Do not invest

I invested 1k just to try this app out after hearing numerous podcasts talk about it. 3 years later I can’t even sell my shares at a major discount. I just want out, doesn’t seem like there is much transacting going on besides the people selling the paintings making the actual profit then your stuck with shares you can’t even trade..

Take the guesswork out of art trading and NFT art projects.

high fees and relentless spam

i signed up for masterworks because friend recommended but after reviewing their fees decided against investing.

since then they've spam called me regularly despite me asking to be removed from
their list

the app and website don't let me update/remove my contact info.

sketchy af business practices, strongly discourage even signing up.

Pretty worthless

They’re slowly reducing app value - you can’t see portfolio performance anymore. Of course you can buy art on the app, but everything else is buried on the web. Super lame - telegraphing that no one (except them) is making any money here.

Closed Secondary Market

Today they emailed all investors and told us secondary market is no longer accessible, but to “call the sales” team. Final straw for me.

Crashes every 10seconds

Shady practices

Misleading. They had a daily quiz that they just silently stopped. Who knows what else is going on under the hood.

Bugs

I can’t even sign on anymore because it glitches so much.

Has gotten worse with time

You cannot track your portfolio, see your cost basis, see the art you've invested in easily.

The updates to app are built around spammy features to get you to buy more art. But they'd accomplish that better by making this a true investment platform for people serious about allocating to art.

Disappointing and am stopping most activity here. Wouldn't recommend it.

Great idea poor execution

Promised a lot in as platform but did not deliver much. Recommend staying away. Mad about stopping the art quiz also.

Point less

They won't sell your art they just hold your money

Least liquid investment I have

If you want to give them your money and have it sit for years and years, with little to no feedback, then this is your investment. Avoid this thing like the plague. I invested in 3 paintings 2.5 years ago, and to date, all I can see is that my paintings/portfolio have likely lost value. Finally, I have absolutely zero idea when they will sell, of ever. All of this on a red, hot stock market. Live and learn.

Technically flawed

Unfortunately the installation failed multiple times and not for the lack of trying. Given how hard masterworks tries to push users to download the app, a different performance should be expected

It’s not the IRS…but

Terrible user interface. Terrible dashboard with minimal information on personal portfolio; which should be the homescreen information. Seems to focus more on new sales and new customers as opposed to providing a quality user experience for customers who already have a portfolio. As a point of annoyance, It’s very cluttered, which is sad considering it’s an art platform. Go figure that out. Verizon Wireless UI is superior, if you need a similar, but much better comparison.

Huh? The app is so bad

This app used to be straightforward. I could easily see my investments. I have no idea what is going on now. I navigate through the app and it’s all about gamification and news stores? Could you imagine a big bank doing this? I can find my investments! What a mess.

Mess

This app, and business, has become a mess. I’ve been with them since the stray and don’t even know what’s happening on the app anymore. What a chaotic mess. Art quizzes? Really! I can’t even see what I have shares in anymore. Angry at this mess.

Investors beware

In what world does it make sense for an investment app to proactively remove your Portfolio screen from the app. They seem to be actively hiding the fact that the value of the investments are rarely getting appraised and when it does, the assets are all falling in value and they rarely ever sell paintings anymore. So you are stuck with a assets that they do not spend ANY effort providing updates on or future plans for, and now they even hide the dwindling value (it can only be found on web) and focus on stupid art quizzes and hyping up new assets that they’ll never speak about again once it’s its reached 100% inventment. BEFORE YOU INVEST, beware that you’ll never hear about your assets again - they’re 100% focused on getting more people to invest, not on managing or taking responsibility for the invested portfolio. I’m tempered to use the word scam but i think it’s just non-app people in leadership of a consumer app and they have no understanding of the core needs of their users.

Liquidity scam

For the most part t seems they’re just focused on buying anything and marking it up roughly 10% but maybe more to flip to the user base. The effort to find value is almost non-existent. The platforms become diluted with too many holdings and they rarely flip anything. Been on here for about 3 or 4 years and one holding out of 9 has flipped. The 5 year rule implies I probably should have flipped at least a 1/3rd of my portfolio by now. I’d take a soft pass on this app
