It only favors the buyer whatever they claim. Lost a lot because buyers used my products and claim returns for damaged. Joke
Not always great for sellers
I never had a problem with Mercari until I had a buyer “Mommy & Me Boutique” Salem, OH claim the EUC VS white bikini top I sent her didn’t match my description, she sent pics of the same top in totally different condition. Hers was dingy gray, with tags that weren’t even the same as the one I sold her.
She obviously purchased mine knowing she could get away with swapping her gross one, for a better one.
When I sent pics to prove she was lying, Mercari sided with her, stating what I received back was the same as she claimed I sent.
Needless to say I was stuck with her trash, and I didn’t get paid.
Upon doing research, I found I’m not the only person this happened to.
If you sell on this platform and come across a buyer “Mommy and Me Boutique” AKA Courtney Dailey from Salem, OH BEWARE…SHES A DISHONEST SCAMMER.
Make sure to take photos or record all items before shipping.
It’s unfortunate, but there are people out there who will get away with scamming honest sellers.

No Real People
Sometimes you need a little help. Especially when certain policies are confusing. So I had an issue I had to deal with their bot. Which was not programmed for the issue simply got nowhere. So I ended up locating an address and mail them a letter with all the evidence and my question and never heard a word. What a sad excuse for a company.

I love this app. It’s the only selling app I used. Easy to post, easy to buy, nice to make money and declutter. Great customer service!

Mercari is My #1 App
I love shopping on Mercari! It’s my favorite shopping app! I have recommended to all of my friends.
Support is garbage
They have AI answer messages, after weeks going back & forth with AI you might get a human but you still won’t get help. According to Mercari I’m a “high volume seller” that’s paid them over $20,000 in commission and they still will not provide good support. Now imagine being a new or small seller, they will not help or support you at all.

Buyer Protection Fee is a JOKE
I really like the sellers on this website, but Mercari does not back them nor the buyer. I had an item stolen out of my mailbox, which I thought the buyer protection fee that you have to pay on every single item that goes to Mercari not the seller would cover that. It did not and they just gave me a runaround. When you called them, their people do not speak. Good English and I was told it would be covered. So not happy with Mercari

Fees are astronomical
Been using Mercari long enough that it’s been through several experimental phases with their fees. Right now it’s not very profitable to sell. My most recent transaction, the buyer paid $30 for something listed for $20, and I made almost half of what they paid at $17. Mercari claims that they take 10% of your sale as a fee, but they base that number on the final sale value after tax/shipping (which you don’t profit from…) so the seller fee ends up being much more than 10%.
