Good but doesn’t pick up sounds that well

Love using the app but it doesn’t pick up the bird calls even though I can hear them myself. It says “hearing a bird” for way too long in my opinion and it’s frustrating

Relaxing and educational

I love it - great app, birds are awesome

Love this app!

My new favorite thing is to wake up in the morning, open the app, and set it on my kitchen windowsill while I go about my business for 15 minutes or so. Then I can see all of the birds in my backyard. There are often surprises (what I think of as fly-bys), and it’s really a highlight of my day. I’ve started doing this whenever I need a little break, too. I work at home. The best thing about this is that I live in a busy urban environment that is often frustratingly noisy, so it’s such a delight to recognize that these birds are out there. An armchair birder, I recognize a lot of bird sounds, but the app allows me to identify birds that I don’t recognize when I hear them, as well as pick up on ones that are nearby, but not sight accessible to me, for example, in very tall trees on properties nearby, where I can’t see them. Just love it!

Love it

I love this app and it is very helpful, I would love if it had an Apple Watch option as well.

Bird of the Day

I have continued to use Merlin Bird ID over the years and have enjoyed it, but the new features are distracting and unhelpful. Please allow users to turn off Bird of the Day. This feature is useless.

The one app you'll never hate

One of the best things I've ever done is get off social media and spend more time using apps like Merlin Bird ID by Cornell: it's helped me connect with a whole other world right outside my window. Who would've ever thought in 1 year I could turned my yard into a literal Pileated Woodpecker sanctuary (along with every other bird in NoVA, my feeders are the place to be)...I also, err, maybe know more facts about birds than my friends and family care to probably hear about now? THANK YOU, folks who do the work behind the scenes, for helping make me the BIRD LADY. I say it with pride 🙇

Brilliant free app

Fantastic app to learn what birds you can hear in your garden but don’t often see

Great App for Everyone

I live in Mauritius so I have daily access to some pretty exotic birds. This app has really helped to identify them and isolate the sound coming from specific birds. Really pleased I found this app from Cornell Lab. Great that it’s free too! 🙂

Best bird app EVER!!

I tell all my friends, family and acquaintances about Merlin. We enjoy this app more than any other on our phone. Every morning we are out on the from deck with Merlin tuned in to the many birds on our rural Kentucky farm. We now have 50 different birds identified on our little 4+ acre slice of heaven.

Confirm email

Makes me confirm my email every time I open the app. I’ve confirmed it no less than 3 times, we’re as confirmed as it gets over here

Best app ever created

This is the best app that has ever been created birding has now become my #1 obsession 👍

Amazing!

Best bloody app! I can whip out the app and identify the bird that I hear within seconds. So good! Even if there are 20 birds singing, it lists them and highlights the ones singing at that very second, so cool! AND it supports Cornel’s study on location of birds and numbers.

I use it everyday

It’s amazing! I’ve learned so much from this app about birds. I recommend it to everyone who mention an interest in birds.

Stopped opening

After the last update the app won’t open

Stop signing me out.

It’s a bird identification app for crying out loud. We don’t need secure sign ins. And you don’t get to share my information. Bad update. Whoever thought this was a good idea should no longer be working for your company.

Can be good

It was very good at the beginning but after a couple of days, no matter what I do, wether I’m online or offline it just ignores and refuses to identify VERY CLEAR AND LOUD sounds of birds slightly more obscure than a “crow” or a “blue tit”. I just wanted to find out what bird that is, I thought this app was capable - but it just refuses to work for me.

Amazing app but translate just the names in French

Amazing app but lately, the app translate in French only the name of the bird, nothing else as description , location etc. Please, fix it! 🙏🏼

I love this app

I use it very often, it is very helpful and fun! 5 stars all the way!! 100% worth it fellow bird brains!!
