Not working anymore
The app has stopped working. It opens for a second and then crashes. It worked a few weeks ago. I don’t know what changed.
I cannot use my subscription!
I have been a Met Opera on Demand subscriber for a couple of years now. I don’t think I watch enough of it to justify $150/year but still get the annual subscription because I love having immediate access to great opera content on my Apple TV and also love supporting opera/classical music companies. I’ve had minimal issues with the app until a few weeks ago when it started prompting me to “login or subscribe” (even though I’m already subscribed to it annually, which got automatically renewed earlier this year). Unfortunately, logging in or restoring the purchase options “cannot find purchase”! I confirmed via the Apple TV settings that I have an active subscription! I tried contacting their customer support several weeks ago but I received nothing but radio silence 😤

Subtitle Settings Need Work
Many of the operas require you to manually turn on the subtitles for each and every track. This means you’ll have to stop and turn them on as often as every five to ten minutes. They should certainly be able to program this to keep subtitles on consistently. The operas themselves are fantastic but the app needs a bit of work.

Is MetOpera App’s Fat Lady Singing?
I wish I knew. I can’t tell. You’d think that pressing a play button arrow would start a song, but no. No music begins. Click the track list? Shows “now playing” but no sound from iPhone. I’ve had this annoying app for several months and generally give up. On one occasion, I kept clicking on any opera, any song! Just play something!! This opera, that opera. Audio. Video. Ugh! Nothing but frustration. No sound. Put down the phone. Then about 5 minutes later I heard something! It was playing some random opera I had never heard of, but hallelujah it was playing!! Unfortunately I had to stop it to take a call, and I’ve never gotten it to play again. What a waste of money! I use opera for relaxation. This app has the opposite effect. If anyone knows how to make it play, please let me know

Terrible, no good, very bad app
This app truly sucks. It doesn’t Ave your progress. Want to watch 2 hours of Das Rehingold? Good luck finding your place when you come back. Favorites? You can save them, but who knows if your list will show up when you come back to the app. Search features are terrible and counter intuitive. The operas are amazing, the app is worthless. And it costs as much as my Amazon prime subscription. The Metropolitan Opera needs to fix this app. People have been complaining for years. It isn’t much better than when I started streaming their operas in 2006.
