Mobile File Transfer User Reviews

So disappointing

The software doesn’t work. It then directs you to another app which also doesn’t work. This is incredibly disappointing. What a scam

Mobile file transfer

Used this app for years. Now is telling me that I need to pay but the worse is that it charged me 5.99 and still doesn’t work.. what a scam

Terrible

I can even use this app wish my camera.!!

Terrible not worth the money. Does not support most devices.

This app is horrible. I used to use the canon mobile file transfer app. It told me that I needed to download this new app. Then it proceeded to charge me a monthly subscription of $5.99 a month. Which is ridiculous for personal use. After going through the hassle of trying to connect my camera. After I connect it, it says my camera is no longer supported. Literally useless. This app is terrible. Canon needs to reinstate the old app and stop charging for applications that we can’t even use!

Another subscription!

Why, as someone already mentioned we buy the camera and the phone ffs!

Be so for real you jerks.

Used the app for years and now I have to pay. lol be for real just won’t use it anymore.

Not paying a penny !

What a joke, money grabbing b*stards! I’ve been saving for years to buy the gear I wanted and now as I finally have it I have to pay for using the app to transfer my photos? Is it a scam?!
No surprise more and more photographers are switching onto Nikon and Sony! Canon sort yourself out!

What are your product managers smoking?

For real, nickel and diming us for a paid subscription after we drop thousands on equipment? Not a great look to say the least. Way to cut off your nose to spite your face, you can use my $5 to hire a PR firm. Ugh.

5000 dollars for a camera and there’s a 5 dollar subscription???

I paid many thousands for a Canin camera and then I cannot download my images using the companies app unless I pay $5? Seriously?

FTP is a pro shooter need - so why does this not have pro features?

I shoot pro sports where images need to be relayed in real time to editors. Like everyone else who shoots pro sports, I use multiple bodies. Why in the world is there not capability to connect to multiple cameras simultaneously?

More importantly, why in the world is there not capability to simply connect a cable from my R5 to my iPhone and select the images? Am I insane for thinking this is an obvious need?

Additionally, I should be able to FTP any photos that I have in my library, not just the ones that have been transferred via the proprietary app.

I shoot regularly at a stadium where many others are Nikon/Sony shooters. They plug an ethernet port into their bodies and they FTP photos in a second. But Canon only allows this if you've shelled out money for their most expensive bodies.

I got an R5 over a 1DX because I knew Canon was going mirrorless and I wanted to stay up to date. But I've been penalized for buying an R5 prior to the release of the R3, apparently. Alright, fine, that's on me. But if you're going to make an alternative FTP solution for the "in between" cameras, why make something as half baked as this?

I'm frustrated. Please consider this feedback and know I'm not the only one with these issues.

Why require a subscription?

Is this a joke? Why is a subscription required? The app is not using the developer’s website or any other resources that require them to pay money. The SFTP protocol is a point-to-point protocol between your phone and the SFTP server of your choice.

The developer could probably charge a one time fee to cover the costs of developing the app, but that’s about it. But the main product being sold is not this app, it’s the camera and extra lenses. So yeah, the subscription is a great way to piss off your users.

Subscription joke

After spend thousands on a camera they want to hit $7.99 a month for something that cost them nothing, what a joke Canon!

Crooks

It was free then it auto deleted from my apps now they charge after we bought the camera

Subscription culture

What! Everyone seen to want you to pay for everything £6 a month, subscription! I have paid for the camera I am not going to continue to pay for it. I will pull the card from the camera and stick it into external storage probably quicker to do that.

Jkelso

I totally agree about the £6 charge for the app. It’s money-grabbing to say the least.
Hopefully some other route to a similar solution can be used.

Pay wall

I didn’t buy a camera just to be forced to buy a subscription.

Refuse to pay subscription

I was looking forward to getting an R5 as at the time this app was free to use now it’s £6 absolutely disgusting charging for the app, now with this I may look at other options for a camera that does the same thing and free app

Not paying new subscription

This software was free, and used it often for the R6 since November last year. Now all users need to pay around £6 a month for it. I’ll stick to photo mechanic and lightroom to write the iptc from now on.

Subscription? Why?

Why as a subscription the hardware costs thousands and you want to screw us for more cash to make it usable.

What a rip off

Paid £4000 for an R5 and expected to pay £6/month to use this to transfer images, appalling!
