Started out great…wound up being a nightmare

Started out so great! I was excited and working with my designer to design two room for our new house. Loved the idea of having a designer to consult and that the “edit” process allowed for unlimited revisions. We ended up placing a large furniture/decor order through Modsy with the promise that it would be easier and we would save money by doing so. Then… suddenly the company shut down. We were given no fore warning and no designer to help me finish my projects (also I feel so bad for her because I am pretty sure all the designers got laid off and she must have lost her job). Then, to make matters worse I still had about $1500 of merchandise orders (two Pottery Barn brand night stands and a nice leather bench from one of the Modsy brands) that I was waiting for which I had already paid for. It has been about 3 months since the shut down and I have still not seen any of this merchandise or been given a refund. I have submitted a claim through them trying to get my money back… What a total nightmare.

Design=GREAT, Fulfillment=AWFUL, Communication=WRETCHED

I RAVED about Modsy at the beginning of working with them! The design service with unlimited revisions really is/was a great service. After my initial designs and ordering I was notified by my designer that they had been laid off, so I cannot speak to if I’m still able to receive the revisions that I paid for with my package.
I suggest NEVER EVER ordering through Modsy. I placed an order at the beginning of May. Many of the pieces were delayed due to supply chain issues. I understand many things are out of their control. I reached out multiple times to get any update. I have 2 large ticket items, which happen to be from a common retailer, that are PAST their 5 week delay from their already delayed delivery window. After emailing many times I still have not received a response from Modsy. The only current way to reach Modsy is through email. My most recent email was received by them well over 10 business days ago, and I have still not heard anything beyond the auto-response. Please beware. Save your time, frustration, and money.

Do not purchase, they are no longer offering design services!

It looks like this used to be a really great service and app. Unfortunately, I signed up for it right as the company seems to be tanking.

I purchased a two room bundle when they were having a sale in mid-June. They promoted it as a good opportunity to redesign your space in time for 4th of July sales. After submitting photos of my first room the expected turnaround time was July 7th, but they have now changed that date 4 times and still no design. I had initially been communicating with my designer a few weeks ago who said she was about to get started, and then suddenly the chat feature stopped working so I have had no way to get in touch with her.

When I go to submit the information for the second room, the app displays the message “we are unfortunately no longer offering design services.” There is a link to a refund request form that I submitted a few weeks ago, but I have still received no refund or update on my request. I feel like I’ve been swindled at a time when I could really use a break. I’m hoping that sharing this keeps this from happening to others. I’m not sure why the app is still active when they are clearly no longer able to offer the promised services.

Great concept, customer service needs improvement

BEWARE Modsy is not able to handle customer service requests right now!! They have their chat feature turned off due to high demand and aren’t responding to emails. I’ve been waiting for a refund for almost 4 weeks and still haven’t received it. Haven’t been able to talk to someone to push it through. They need to figure this out before I try them again.

Now the rest of the review: I had Modsy design 2 rooms for me. It was pretty easy to set up, and I like how it tells you what your style is based on you selecting various examples you like. The designer listened to my needs and made a few updates until it was perfect.
There is a huge selection of goods. However, they are overpriced. Other online retailers have similar items for much less. Do some shopping around before you purchase from Modsy.
A lot of their partners are experiencing delays with delivery. Many times the original delivery date was within a couple of weeks then it turned into many months. The items were easy to cancel and get somewhere else. However, canceling right now could be a challenge due to what I said in the beginning.

Don’t order anything through Modsy

I ordered some decorations and furniture from my design all of which was labeled as in stock. A few items came quickly, but the larger furniture items had a delivery window of about 4 weeks. 4 weeks came and passed but I am still waiting for the furniture items that are in stock and am getting no response from Modsy customer service. I wished I just ordered it directly from the retailer and cut out the middle.

Modsy is a wonderful service!

This was so easy to use and I loved all of the options. Anna my Designer was really great and submitted multiple designs and revisions for me. I would highly recommend this!

Recent update broken the app

The recent update for iPhone has rendered it unusable- it’s stuck in an endless loop requesting to update to the most recent version, which leads to the App Store which says I have the most recent version. Their help contact section on their website doesn’t allow for app based technical support help either

This app is NO LONGER OFFERING DESIGN SERVICES!!!!

Please be aware- I received an email from the designer I was originally set up with in the app that there was a massive lay-off at the organization. Right now, I can’t even log into the app as it quotes “upgrade app” but really there is no upgrade. It has locked me out with no new updates from the design package I purchased about a month ago. I sent a bug report and instead i got a preview message that Modsy is no longer providing design services but I cant click on their refund form because the app bug about the upgrade wont let me access this message in its entirety. Total waste of money and time!!!

Love the design!

I love the design and the process. Makes it so easy to get new ideas and options that I hadn’t thought of myself.

However, I’m trying to go on to see my designs and the app is telling me I need to upgrade but when I go to update it says I’m on the newest version.

Such a great value!

Laura captured my wants, needs and budget in the best way possible. I really was intentionally hands off because I wanted this space to be my style but not my normal specifications. Perfect space planning, textures and mix of colors transformed this otherwise boring room. I cannot thank you enough.

Easy and intuitive but too slow

This app has some amazing capabilities and features! It’s very easy to scan your room using the camera, review designs/chat with the designer and swap out products.

But the performance is not great - loading the product catalog takes forever. It’s also very difficult to search for products.

Life changing

I’ve never been happier with a service. The 3d imaging blows my mind. My whole family is excited to have a well designed home. I will never design another room without Modsy.

Far about the rest!

I am a Modsy convert! I used another service for years. I never felt completely “wowed” when my projects were finished. On a whim, I used Modsy to redo a room previously designed. Let me just say, the results are night and day! Hands down, no competition. My Modsy designer nailed it. My results were stunning and I cannot wait to get started bringing my room to life. I’m about to have my designer redo other room plans from the last service. I think it’s worth noting that the Modsy app technology is really advanced and convenient for the customer. No more measure your room and uploading photos and specs. Nothing compares to the room capture feature and how the designer presents your design. Definitely less work for the customer. I’m so glad I gave Modsy a try.

earth and helpful - her designs helped me to visualize what would work for our particular space and what colors schemes we want to use.

App doesn’t save info

This review is for the app only. I’ve spent a lot of time writing my answers and then gone to the next section, and then if you go back to review or edit it, the information is gone. You can’t see what information is there when you go to submit, and if you go back into the section it’s starting all over again!!! If I have to rewrite these details one more time I may scream. Such a bummer. Hopefully, the design part of the experience is more rewarding.

Review of App and Experiece

Application
Pros:
- You can envision the designs from multiple viewpoints
- You can replace items with similar things if you want to see additional options

Cons:
- Some items appeared upside down or got lost when changing out to different options
- App crashes when trying to look at status of items that were ordered as replacements
- Wish you could view the 3D rendering without have to walk in circles in my house (I.e., scroll with my finger through rendering)

Experience
Pros:
- It was super easy to order everything and use financing on the site once errors disappeared
- Customer service was easily accessible to provide return labels

Cons:
- Cart items disappeared a few times (think this was due to servers being down)
- 75% of items (actual calculation) came damaged. Eventually we just got over it and kept some of the damaged items. If you would like to return an item, you have to print your own label and tape it back up. Overall I spent $20 doing returns by purchasing tape and paying to print labels. Keep in mind, the 25% of the non-damaged items were pillows and a rug.
- The style wasn’t necessarily “us” … we ended up going with it because we didn’t feel like having another style done.

Overall, I wouldn’t use the service again. The amount of time that I spent returning items wasn’t worth it. I also have a damaged painting on my wall because I just gave up after returning multiple items.

Fantastic app + Great designs at a great value

We used Modsy to decorate 5 rooms of our house and couldn’t be happier. The process was seamless, the app was fun to use, and the designer was attentive and perfectly captured our aesthetic without a lot of handholding. Would definitely recommend!

Modsy helped me love my home!

I can’t tell you how pleased I am with Modsy and Stephanie, my designer!
Though I know what I like, I had no idea how to create a cohesive design. Stephanie did a great job and when the dressers I wanted weren’t available (2021 problems) she came up with an even. Better alternative. The ordering process was easy. I highly recommend!

Game changer

As a first time homeowner, I had all these incredible plans for my new space until I actually started attempting to execute them. Nothing looked the way it did in my head, I couldn’t figure out how to tie everything together, and it all cost SO much more than I ever imagined. I was completely up overwhelmed by something I thought would be fun. The designers on Modsy helped me create a space I LOVE without all the frustration. I genuinely wish I had found it sooner and used it for all the rooms in our home because it would have saved me so much time and energy. It was so cool to see it laid out in 3D - and it helped me convince my husband to splurge on a few “unnecessary” items that he didn’t understand the importance of until actually seeing how much of a difference they made in our space. Can’t recommend Modsy enough!!!!
