Screen cut off

iPhone 14 Pro, updated.
*In filtering, the sides of the screen are cut off. On the left, I see what is likely the word lactose or fructose etc, but all I see are the last two letters. On the right, I see part of an unhappy face.
* When searching ingredients, whether from the category of food or from the certified list, most returns are recipes or premade products that contain that food.
*There doesn't appear a category for diabetics or allergies, celiac, so many foods are presented when the user knows they can't have it.

It's pretty basic and not what I expected. A trial period before buying would have been useful. I don't think I'll be using this app much.

The best food tracker!

I use this every day for every meal and have for a few years now.

Some enhancements recommended

Is easy to use and the traffic light and stack cups are useful. What would be great is if you could add food straight from the guide to your diary without having to type meals, and a way for foods added in a 2-3 hour window to add towards a stack cup tracker within the diary, so you don’t have to be nervous about hitting your limit of FODMAPs, given a meal is rarely just one or two ingredients.

Feels like an ad

I’m very disappointed in this app. The food search (which seems to be its primary use) feels poorly designed and like an ad for companies that have paid to be included. Half of the things I pull up are specific brand names, all of which are green (so ok to eat). For example, I searched rice cereal: Rice Krispies are green, but the generic puffed rice cereal is yellow (and yes, I understand they might use different sweeteners, but it still feels like an ad when the name brand is promoted like that). Additionally, specific home delivery meal kits keep showing up when I just search for a vegetable, cluttering everything up and making it hard to use. The serving size of items is also misleading. A fruit might be marked as green but when you look at the serving sizes, it will say 2.1 oz is green but 2.3 oz is yellow and 3 oz is red, and maybe the people who made this app have never eaten fruit before, but there is very little difference in a 2.1 oz serving of fruit and a 3 oz serving of fruit.

Amazing App

I’ve had IBS all my life and found out about the low FODMAP elimination diet by my GI doctor as an adult. I downloaded this years ago and I have found out some of my intolerances that I didn’t know. When I was little I was always sick to my stomach and had a lot of pain and cramping. Didn’t know my intolerance to lactose. Back then they diagnosed me with IBS but blamed it on stress. Nobody did anything for me. My mom took me doctor to doctor and nothing. Not even a mention of an antacid for my reflux. You guys have done amazing work and I’m so thankful for you. This is an amazing app studied by amazing professors and students. If there was one thing I could add to the app is a filter that I could set to my intolerance group and see all the food from all the different groups together. Instead I have to search each item and take a pen and paper and write down all the intolerances in that group!! That would make this app so much better for me at least!! Thank you for your great work.

NOT BEGINNER FRIENDLY AT ALL

I am not a chef, nor can I read the creators of this app’s minds while cooking. While making a recipe like the chicken risotto, it tells you to sauté the vegetables all the way on high in the beginning. And then proceeds to tell you everything else you need to add. Not once does it tell you to reduce the heat. So here I am burning the living you know what out of this entire dish and now it’s disgusting and I wasted my money. And my kitchen is a burnt mess on top of it. I do not know how to cook anything without detailed instructions. Not telling when to reduce heat, or simmer, that’s a huge problem. Should have been a disclaimer about the level of cooking knowledge required for this app.

disappointed

Been using this app for a few days and I’m disappointed to say the least. There are not many recipe options and the search function is extremely dated and has very few brands and specifics. The app description also states that there is a reintroduction guide but this was also hard to navigate and isn’t much of a guide. I am grateful for the research and I’m sure some of the cost of the app goes to funding but unfortunately as the consumer if we have to use apps behind paywalls there are much better ones for the same purpose.

Contradictory Info

Was looking forward to an authoritative source of info for lowfodmap diet. The app has contradictory info - just look up Broccoli heads as a example. Also the inconsistency in the rating info (red to green vs green to read) makes this hard to use. They need to do some work to clean this up. $9.99 for something I can’t trust because of bad info is not great.

Nice app

At first I was disappointed because the app wasn’t working well on my iPad, and I posted a review as such. The developer got I touch with me, THAT was HUGE in my book. So I am adjusting my review in that the app works GREAT on my phone, and actually I use it more than I would have on the iPad. I’m very satisfied with the ease and all of the pertinent information that I can log. It’s very helpful with the tutorial as well.

Cure for IBSD

This app, a registered dietician, and 6 months of focused work allowed me to find my 2 triggers (of 6) and reduced IBSD symptoms by 90%. Prior to this, not a single one of my US MDs, not even the gastro, gave me any real instruction on how to do the low fodmap elimination process. They deprived me of any opportunity for recovery, through ten YEARS of soiling myself at work. I'm grateful Australians invested in this evidence based practice. Get a dietician and this ten dollar app - it's priceless.

Could be so good!!

Love the research and the concept, and All it has uncovered about food intolerances. This app could be so good but it is missing functionality that could make it so much better. Ideally the food list would be better but I understand you can’t have every food tested. However when you search for, eg. almonds or raspberries the first thing in the list should be the single item. Not branded foods that contain these things. Annoying to scroll through to find the product. Entering food in the diary is cumbersome. Please add the ability to create meals or favourites and just click to add. I have to keep copying meals from other days. People with restricted eating are of course going to repeat a lot of meals so let us just copy them over in some way. Thanks!

Not for people in the uk

It’s an American and Canadian food app. There’s no bar code scanner available and some contradictory information on the app e.g can have hulled soya bean milk and can’t have it either. I can’t search up any foods either as it’s not uk based. Expensive to buy when I can’t use it much. Prefer to google each product tbh. It’s easier.

It's expensive and doesn't work

I specially downloaded the app from the website of the university that created this system. 1. The app is terribly expensive and it doesn't work! 2. Most of the pages don't load all the time. It 's unclear how to use it . 3. Not intuitive to use. It's expensive and doesn't work as a result. 4. There is a list of allowed products, but there is no filter or search by the first letter. Half of your life will pass before you get to meat. You can't do that. 5. There is no translation into other languages

Hi there, we're sorry to hear about the issues you are having with the app. We would love it if you could reach out to us at enquiry@monashfodmap.com so we can understand more about what is occurring when you try to use the app, regarding pages not loading and the search not working.

Nicht zu empfehlen

Leider ist diese App teuer und nicht zu empfehlen. Sie hilft mir überhaupt nicht und zeigt weder Lebensmittel in Deutschland an noch kann ich einen Plan starten und dafür soviel Geld

Response from developer

Hi there, we're sorry to hear our app doesn't contain many of the foods you are looking for. We are continuously working to test and add more foods, so if you have any suggestions for testing, please feel free to send them to enquiry@monashfodmap.com

Useful but pricey & with some issues

Useful overall but seems a little pricey for what you’re getting. Also contains some weird issues like saying a food item is low FODMAP at 30 grams but high at 32 grams and ‘traffic light’ order messed up.

Great app, please add option to Import Diary or sync data

This app is pretty great. I used it to do an elimination diet, and afterwards I have been using it to track my diet. It’s not perfect, there are bugs sometimes, and I wish it would function better sometimes, but I’m still glad I bought this app and it use daily.

I really wish there was a way to input diary data from my phone when I am out, and have it sync with my ipad, where the majority of the database is stored. It is extremely time consuming to transfer the data manually. Or at least, if there was a way to export and IMPORT the diary, that would work too and avoid the problem with using cloud data. I would definitely pay extra for the option to just sync data in the cloud though!

Please improve this app!

Forgive me if these features already exist and I’m just incompetent, but there are two very simple improvements that would make this awesome:
Enable sorting by Lo FODMAP compliant, so the safest appear at the top, going all the way down to the worst. And
Please have a button that HIDES all branded, processed food products.
As someone who does all the meal planning and cooking for a lofodmap partner, I just want ingredients and I just want ideas.

Garbage

Half the foods I try to look up are not even there. Basic food too. What a waste of money not impressed

Information Only

I can look up online what foods are high FODMAP which is the only thing this app does well. I wanted a meal plan for elimination. You get recipes but no plan. It has a start the diet button but it’s more literature. There’s no support while you’re on the diet. There’s no dietitians in my area and I can look that up on their free website. The diary could be nice if it helped you along the way. It’s basically a place to take notes without any prompts to know why you’re logging what. I want my $7.99 back.

Very few recipes. All available free on website.

Didn’t find this very useful. I have food charts that are more helpful than this and easier to use. Our diet requested we purchased the app. The recipes are very limited and are all available free on their website. $13 for this basic app is way too much.
