Great Software, Okay App
As for the software as a whole, I started using Motion in the web in 2025, but have really found great use of it in 2026 after being diagnosed with AuDHD. Unsurprisingly, didn’t pay attention to the tutorials and have mostly been setting things up through trial and error. It has been great with managing tasks inside notes, separating tertiary study, work, and personal tasks, and breaking down large assignments/work projects into small bite sized chunks and managing it around breaks and meetings. It has been a lifesaver for me and has improved my efficiency, reduced mental load, and helped support me through executive disfunction.
In AUD the software is about $500 a year. Many will think it’s too expensive and generally I agree, but for me it has been worth it. Not for everyone, and a 1 week trial is unfortunately too short of a time to really see if this software is for you.

Calendar event creation
Also, the AI keeps getting dates wrong. It will say “Monday July 7th” even though July 7th is a Tuesday. Also, I’ll have events scheduled for a certain day (Ie. An event on July 10th, a Friday) and the AI will tell me I have that event on Thursday, July 9th instead, even though it’s scheduled for the 10th! I even tell the AI it got the date wrong and it will still get it mixed up.
Updates suddenly stopped. Where have the developers all gone?
Instant failure
First, the app prominently features an AI Chat tab, but tapping it told me my plan didn’t include AI features. That’s a strange experience when AI is a core part of the product’s marketing.
Second, and much more concerning, Motion scheduled tasks directly on top of existing calendar events that were already marked as busy. As a teacher, my calendar contains commitments that cannot be double-booked. A scheduling app’s primary job is to avoid exactly that.
For $45/month, I expected a polished experience. Instead, I spent my trial debugging the app. The concept is great, but if I have to supervise the scheduler, it defeats the purpose.

Terrible design
So Amazing! Life Changer!
Not ready. Just a task list creator
I want to type in what I needed to get done, when I needed to get it done, what the priority was, and how long I thought it would take into a text box and have the software automatically populate both calendar, events, and tasks on my calendar. It will not do this.
It does a good job of creating task list and prioritizing them, but I can already do that with Claude or ChatGPT and those have free versions. This is not worth $50 a month.
When it gets there, I might reconsider it, but I’m pretty frustrated right now and feel like I was take advantage of.
Amazing App
WARNING: False Advertising & Unauthorised Charges
If anyone else ends up in this situation: after 2 days of trying to find someone, the AI chat bot issued a full refund. The AI chat bot is permitted to issue full refunds - do not bother waiting for a human to contact you - they will not.
Warning: no renewal reminders or customer support
Didn’t end up using motion much. Not as useful as I’d hoped.

Soul Mate
I recently got rid of my first account and onboarded my entire real estate team. It’s truly magical to see Motion working at its peak with multiple people involved vs just myself in previous years.
We’re still building our client facing work flows and continuing to build on everyone’s collection of to do list scattered across the cloud, but long story short, Motion has been life changing for me since I discovered it the years ago, and I love seeing my team quickly adopt it. You can visibly see the tension release when it clicks in someone’s mind exactly how it works.
