What's New in MovePace

2.0

September 8, 2026

Coaching that changes. If your goal is Health and Fat Loss or General Fitness, your training no longer looks the same every week. You now get intervals, tempo efforts, progressive runs and longer runs, rotating, rather than the same easy run every time. Beginners start with short, gentle intervals; the harder versions arrive once you have built a base. Sessions made of pieces are now shown as pieces. A card reading "35 minutes at Zone 4" was never true of an interval session, so it now lays out the warm up, the work and the cool down. MovePace reads your heart rate across the whole run instead of just its average. That is what tells a genuinely hard session from an easy run that drifted, and it decides whether you have already done your hard run this week. Recovery answers how long. On the day of a run it tells you when you will be ready, rather than only that you are not ready yet. And it will not add a hard session to a week where your distance has already climbed.

Useless

Inflicts the generic age-only based formula to calculate heart rate zones, without any correction mechanism to reflect your actual personalized maximum HR. Yet another instance of AI as Acute Ignorance as opposed to Artificial Intelligence. Folks, when it can NOT nail the rudimentary basics, you know the rest will be pure unadulterated, uh, donkey dust.

Response from developer

You are right, thank you for catching it. MovePace was using 220 minus age with no way to correct it. Every Karvonen zone is built between your resting and your max heart rate, so an inaccurate max shifts all five bands: if your real maximum sits above the formula, your easy runs get labelled Zone 3 and the coaching tells you to back off when you don't need to. That is a real problem and you named it exactly. It is fixed in version 1.9. Max HR now comes from your own value if you set one in Profile. Otherwise it comes from the highest heart rate your runs have actually reached, with a check so a single bad sensor reading cannot skew it. It only ever raises the estimate and never lowers it, so a stretch of easy running cannot shrink your zones. The age formula is only a fallback when there is nothing to measure. Profile now lists both your max and your resting rate with where each one came from, so you can see whether the app measured it or guessed, and correct either. I care about getting the fundamentals right. If you have more to point out, my email is in the app and on movepace.fit. I would be happy to hear it.

Exactly the running coach I needed

Really good app. Gives me insights about my run and how I’m progressing. It also gives me suggestions for what kind of run to do next to continue moving towards my goals.
