Stupid good tools for freelancers, but the iPhone app is a bit limited
Moxie has been amazing for managing my freelance business with so many great tools in one place!
However, I find the iPhone app to be a little limited.
- Looking at projects always has a filter applied by default, so if I’m looking for a specific project, I have to change the filters (can’t disable filters for some reason).
- many of my project time logs can’t be assigned to a specific task from the app—the task list is blank but the tasks are visible in the project view
These limitations are all things that can be done in the web version, so it’s not a dealbreaker, but could be made smoother so that things could be run from your phone.

Desktop version great. Mobile app poor
Love Moxie (desktop version) but this app isn’t good. Too many glitches, not adaptable font size so accessibility poor, error messages (ironically on the feedback & support button). Alerts for things but no actual alert in notification list. Potential but need developing further.
Easiest, most intuitive for freelancers
I’ve been testing project management platforms for weeks. If you’re looking for a way to manager your business, stop looking and just go with Moxie. I thought I was sold on 17Hats, I really wanted it to be the one, but it’s not a good fit for the freelancer workflow. I also tried Hello Bonsai, Asana, Trello, Notion, Things3, pen and paper, the list goes on. Moxie gets it. I enter a project once, add the deliverable, and I can track time, update notes, add tasks, and when it’s time to send an invoice, it automatically populates. It’s incredibly intuitive for managing projects and invoices. I’m still setting up the lead pipeline, but so far that’s been smooth and I love the automated parts of it. Adding business expenses is simple, makes it easy to see where my money is going and can download a P&L for my tax person - easy peasy. I swear they’re not paying me to say nice things lol I’m just a freelance writer who’s been running my business with spreadsheets and a handful of different software platforms and I’m so excited to finally have it all in one place. And today I discovered there’s an app. So, when I have a brilliant idea for a client article while winding down for the night, I just open the app and make a note - it’ll be there waiting for me the next time I log on. Seriously, incredible app. Oh - and it has a client portal that I’m so excited to roll out to my clients!

Every freelance should use Moxie!
Perilously, it is the best. You can handle your entire business on Moxie. It has forms, meeting scheduler, agreements, invoicing, project and expense tracking, support tools, seriously everything you may need to run your business.

When they stupid good tools, they mean it! And they keep making it better and better. Thanks Moxie! So far, every feature you have has been helpful in running my business.
Nice setup, app doesn’t work
Web interface is awesome. Except random fields you can’t edit like a client’s name on a project. Also the macos app is super buggy. Too bad that some overlooked details derail the UX.
Best Client Management
As a designer, I waited to write a review of Hectic app until I had fully utilized it. I must say that the client portal is the backbone of my business, making it effortless to guide clients through designs. The customizable agreements and forms are impressive, and the quick response from clients is a huge plus. With the ability to have a client accept a design within seconds, Hectic has become an essential tool in my toolkit. The app keeps improving, and the affordable price point makes it perfect for designers venturing out on their own.

Must have
The app has a simple design that lets me find all my previously entered work easily and lets me create new inputs that’s important to my business while on the go. My favorite tool on here is the time-tracking so I never have to try and remember what I worked on earlier in the week and how much time I spent on it. This makes billing clients easy. Highly recommend this app not only for those already using Hectic on the web but for all freelancers or contractors who want more control over their work!

Hectic is an absolute lifesaver. Everything is so easy to use and exactly where you expect to find it. I’m able to run my business so much better now! I can do what I need to as soon as I think about so I rarely overlook business stuff now. It’s fantastic!

A breath of fresh air
Like many freelancers out there I have a few disciplines: I am a photographer and a I consult and my biggest pain is keeping track of everything I have on my plate, I often found myself up late sending invoices or giving clients updates and, and, and, and... I needed help and everything I tried was good but not good enough. Then I stumbled across Hectic... all I can say is wow, my favorite thing is the clients area where I can see everything for a client in one place. I highly recommend.
