Don’t get sick
If you get sick and can’t travel Mr and Mrs Smith doesn’t care!! They will charge you full amount regardless if you used points or not. This was my first time booking Mr and Mrs Smith and I was looking forward to a great trip. But my ears would not let me fly so I canceled on the 14th day prior to check in. I got my points back but they charged me over $400 with zero compassion!! Not impressed at all with this customer service 👎🏽

Amazing wild and beautiful place set high looking over the ocean and sunset.
It feels so calm and tranquil. Definitely the best option on Milos if you value isolation and beauty. Manos greets you and looks after you so so well during your stay. Nothing is too much trouble.

You need to get hotel (and possibly the others in this Indian group) into your stable of hotels. This small boutique hotel is a real find and reminds us so much of “the artist’s’ residence” group, but with a very tropical twist. Check them out - “The Postcard Hotel” group.

Very poor service
I used Mr & Mrs Smith to book a hotel for an upcoming trip. About a week after doing so, I needed to cancel. The terms clearly stated I could cancel cost-free 48 hours ahead of check-in, and this was over a week ahead of that time. When I went to cancel, there was no button for me to click to do so, but instead I had to “request” Mr & Mrs Smith to do this for me and give them 48 hours to get back to me. I did that but also emailed the hotel directly to cancel, and it got back to me in about 30 mins to confirm the cancellation. Two days after the hotel cancelled the booking, Mr & Mrs Smith emailed me to tell me that the tax rates had changed for my upcoming hotel reservation! I emailed them back to explain the situation - and hours later got a message saying they were “backed up” on emails, and would respond to me when they could! I wrote back and asked them to please correct their records, that I had already canceled with the hotel days before. When I visited the hotel’s website, I noticed the price offered to me there was roughly $400 cheaper for the stay than Mr & Mrs Smith were charging me. Based on my experience, I don’t see any value to the service - had I worked directly with the hotel, I would have saved a significant sum and also the trouble of dealing with Mr & Mrs Smith for cancellation. I don’t see any value to the service.

Amazing Staff Support
I’ve been using Mr and Mrs Smith for years and the staff I have engaged with go above and beyond.
Many years ago, I went to Lake Como with Mr and Mrs Smith, and was given an amazing bottle of wine from the hotel, and the Mr and Mrs Smith staff tracked down the bottle of wine and where I could buy it in the UK.
I then recently had a trip have to change last minute, the team member managed rebooking and organising my trip. I truly appreciate this level of customer care and recommend Mr and Mrs Smith to anyone.

App not up to standard
Clunky to use, not even standard filters to find the type of holiday you need, glitchy interface - for the standard of hotels on offer, the app doesn’t match

Fix the weird glitchy loading screen
Without doubt one of the most annoying apps I’ve used in a long time. Every time I try to filter my location I get a weird loading page. It’s a shame because the hotels look good

The hotel is undergoing major renovations which were not clear to us at reservation. They now have a note on their website. The square it is on, is also undergoing major construction. Our entire stay was full of dust. Their restaurant is closed and so they have what looks like a basic office cafe for breakfast. There is no reception/concierge area, just some very miserable staff behind what looks like a makeshift desk, doing check in Rubbish is left in the corridors all day Very much a hotel that is not ready

I want to like this app so badly..
When I first heard of SmithHotels, I immediately downloaded the app and was excited to try them out. I’m a frequent traveler who loves to explore boutique hotels and initially I was impressed by the format of their write ups and I must say that they have some great finds on here. But.. the mobile app is just unusable. Every search takes 10-15 seconds to load, and when scrolling the list of results it will need to pause to load every 1-2 options. The search UX is confusing, and searching using the map is tedious. I want to see them succeed, but for now.. I’m going to hold off and actually utilizing them for bookings

I recently traveled for an adult get away weekend in northern Italy, specifically Lake Como and was again impressed with this property. The staff was fantastic at being courteous and helpful and food I thought was out of this world. The two restaurants offered many options from fine dining to a all day bar menu. The property was Instagram stunning and unlike other similar properties had all the reality of the beauty when you arrived. There were countless activities from hiking to boating on and off property which made it a perfect spot . With that said If one is looking for the Ibiza party vibe this isn’t the spot for you as it’s quiet and calm nestled on the lake shore.

Five nights at Gorgeous George did not feel like enough. This is one of the most charming hotels and the staff are absolutely the best. Having worked in luxury hospitality for 30 years I know when I write that a hotel is a winner if you can’t wait to eat in their restaurant. We actually cancelled outside dinner reservations one evening to have another dinner at GiGis. The location is perfect and the amenities in the room were lovely. Everything is well thought of. The only point I’d suggest having run restaurants and been a Food and Beverage Director is consider cloth napkins in the restaurant. The quality of the food out of the kitchen is world class but the napkins detract from it.

Dated app for a company who claims to be sleek and sexy
After all this time still it doesn’t rotate the screen to horizontal, you can only see it as vertical in your iPad. Also when you want to add dates to your search, dates displayed as some alien language and you can’t read anything. Impossible to select a date because you can’t read them. Bad app for iPad overall. Use tablet hotels app it’s much better.

Why their hotels seem cheaper
Mr and Mrs Smith hotels cost a little bit less than on other websites. The secret is they exclude cleaning charges from the price per room. The website obviously does not clearly inform you about this beforehand and the hotel just presents you with a bill at the end of your stay.
Casacau, Rome
We had an amazing 48 hours in Rome staying at Casacau. Pino, the owner made sure we had everything that we needed. Fresh eggs, milk and croissants were hanging on our door each morning.
The location was perfect, a few hundred metres from the Trevi fountain, 10 minute walk from the Spanish steps. 15 minutes to the Colosseum and only 25 minutes walk over to Vatican City.
Pino recommended restaurants for dinner.
We will definitely return.
