Cancellation of a hotel

My husband and I were taking a trip to Oregon. We’re very happy to use Priceline for a booking of a hotel for one night. Unfortunately my husband came down with a medical emergency as soon as possible I called Priceline and I called the hotel to inform them that we were not going To make the trip Priceline uses another booking company. I’m not sure the name but Priceline could not convince them to cancel the reservation for the hotel
They are charging me full price
very very disappointed and I want everyone to know this
