Update not an improvement

I’ve been using MyFitnessPal for years, mostly the free version but when I’ve got serious goals to hit I will go premium. I hate the new log feature- why get rid of meal subtotals?! That was a super helpful feature. I could save meals that satisfied the calorie limits very easily. The new version is NOT as good as the old version. Put it back

Mrs

Finding it a bit easier to use now it was difficult to start with and didn’t help when they made software changes, but now I am getting to grip with it a bit more. Certainly helps you monitor your eating!

Solid weight loss strategy buggy app.

Lost 20lbs by being consistent within 75 days. This app does a great job of allowing myself to understand my relationship with food. That said, the constant “failure to login” or missing data and just plain syncing issues make it a nuisance.

They’ve trashed the UX

Been a paid premium user for years and logged in yesterday to find the new interface unusable. Multiple additional clicks to view meals, multiple additional clicks to input information, far less customisable than before. You can no longer customise what macros are displayed on the main screen — you’re required to have your carbs, fat and protein displayed, which was triggering to me as a recovering anorexic who had chosen to instead display micronutrients under the previous UX so that I wasn’t constantly being shown my carb count. Struggled through for a couple of days but will be seeking a refund and moving elsewhere. Beware before you download this that the 5 star reviews were for a previous app that no longer exists. Their response to widespread complaints has been that they’ve published an FAQ to “help you find” your favourite features. I should not need help to find basic features on a simple meal tracking app. They’ve also said they know it’s “hard” to get used to. Again: it’s a meal tracking app, not brain surgery. It shouldn’t be hard to use! Won’t be paying for an account any more. Look up literally any of their competitors instead. Edited to add: Their stock response to this review just shows how little they care about users. Look up the MyFitnessPal subreddit if you want to see how widely loathed the changes are.

Vitamins and supplements

This app does not allow you to track all of your vitamins and supplements. When you review your progress/nutrients you will be way short of what the supplements and vitamins actually provide. It does not track several of the minerals or other nutrients. I asked. They said they were thinking about it. Right.

Great tool

This app is fantastic for tracking your macros, even in the free version you still can assemble your frequent meals or enter in the calories of a meal if the search options aren’t correct. The paid version is very handy too, to photograph meals to get their calories. I’ve never walked more steps
Or drank more water since using this. I’d always struggled to lose weight on my own thinking I was doing everything right; it fell off my once I started tracking and making a few minor adjustments.

So buggy!!!

Get logged out almost daily

Not improved

For years, I had the free fitness pal. I loved it. You could change your macros and everything is right in front of you tallied up as you went. This new format is not near as good in my opinion. Yes, I know it’s free., So I shouldn’t complain. It just isn’t as great as it used to be. For my needs!

Horrible update

Wow, I’ve been using this app for over 10 years and in one vibe coded update you completely ruined the app, taking away from the whole point of downloading it in the first place. TO QUICKLY LOG YOUR CALORIES! Now it takes three times as long and doesn’t make it any easier. What a garbage update

Bad app update

App has been significantly worse since UI update 6-8 weeks. Not sure why every companies update strategy is “let’s take what you could do in 1 click now make you do 3 clicks for the same thing!”

Great app

Came here to say I love the app but put it down to 3 stars because the new update where the daily streak pops up and is annoying to close is driving me crazy.

No Longer Logs In

The app is great—when you can use it. For some reason I was logged out of my account on my phone (recent known issue), but even though it was supposed to be fixed, I can no longer log into my account linked to my Facebook account that I’ve been using for YEARS. It says I don’t have an account. I can log into through the website just fine and see all of my data. I’ve deleted and redownloaded the app several times with no change. If they don’t fix it soon, I’ll be looking for a different app. The website on my phone is too inconvenient.

This app is dangerous

“Out of the participants who reported using My Fitness Pal, 73.1% (n = 57) reported that My Fitness Pal at least somewhat contributed to their eating disorder, and 62.9% (n = 49) reported that My Fitness Pal at least moderately contributed to their eating disorder. A substantial percentage (30.3%, n = 23) reported that My Fitness Pal very much contributed to their eating disorder.” -My Fitness Pal Calorie Tracker Usage in the Eating Disorders by
Cheri A Levinson, Laura Fewell, and Leigh C Brosof. I personally know people who used this app to help them destroy their lives. It made it easy.

Newest Update is still horrible

Can you please fix this app to show macros for each meal… exactly how it was a week ago before your updates? The app only shows the percentage for each macro for each meal… this is useless when trying to eat a certain number of grams of each per meal. You have made food tracking way more difficult that it should be… Im deleting this app and gonna start using something else… your updates are ridiculously annoying bc you break the app more than you actually fix it. Luckily I dont use the paid version, I was considering it, but after the last few updates I would definitely cancel… deleting the app now… bye!

Recommend!

Absolutely love this app, I’ve lost weight many times over the years and every-time I have is because of this app. The past 8 months I lost roughly 75lbs and still going due to counting my calories. I pay extra for the premium but it’s worth every penny!

Good app ruined by corporate greed

MFP is the best food logging app out there. The UI is intuitive. The food library is exhaustive (and mostly correct). The interface is nice to look at. The graphic displays are helpful. That said, this app fell prey to typical private equity shenanigans (Francisco Partners 👀) & the most helpful features are stuck behind a paywall. If this company truly cared about helping people be healthier, they would make more helpful features available without a paid subscription (barcode scanner, custom macros for your goals, exporting food logs for healthcare providers especially). Nearly $80 for full usability is a steep price tag.

Change it back

Recent updates are a backward step. Inaccurate slider to set macros - needs to be like the serving sizes where you can enter specific quantities in grams yourself. The new layout is awful and functionality has regressed in general

Adverts

Been using for years and helped loose about 4 stone in weight. Last few weeks after adding food up pops an advert. Very very annoying. Might be time to go elsewhere.

Long term user hate the new interface

I really hate the new interface on the app and it’s caused me to use it less and less for long periods of time. Why did anyone think it would be a good idea to put so many pop up screens that interrupt what I’m doing? Every time I hit a button I’m interrupted by a flashing screen that tells me I’ve logged for two days, or I’m going great. It’s so disruptive now. I barely use it because of this. Can we reduce the pop ups and just let us use the app uninterrupted? I get that ads are needed but not this.
If every time I did a squat one of the gym trainers jumped in front of me and yelled “2 squats! Wow! You’re on 🔥” I would cancel my membership that day.

The new UI is awful compared to original
