I recently flew four times on PAL. I was only able to connect on one of the flights.

I couldn't seem to get it connected to the onboard wifi either. I was happy enough with the onboard personal entertainment and on-demand movies so I didn't mind as much. Seems like a pretty unreliable system so far. Maybe it will work next time.
PAL player
I had no issue downloading or playing this app onto my iPad. I downloaded at the Bangkok airport and then flew to Manila on PALs A340 airplane. After takeoff, it worked great. Lots of selections as well. The system PAL put in to broadcast the entertainment over WiFi is a great solution for older aircraft without screens/ controls at every seat.
I agree that if the seats have the screens and controls, that this app is not necessary, but for an airplane that doesn't have them, this is great. This was a 3.5 hour flight. It would have felt longer without this system. You do need to make you device is fully charger, there was no power ports or UBS ports on this plane.

Didn't Work
I downloaded the app at the airport but failed to try and use until in the air. Agreement to Terms is required but could not the In Air wifi. The flight attendant said there was no need to agree to terms prior to being in the air and she would look to see if the wifi onboard was working. I fell asleep waiting and checked a few times later to no avail. Good luck.

Used this on Philippine Airlines and it did not connect! They need to work on this app or better yet, get new televisions per seat!
Useless to download
Very disappointed at this app. Attempted (numerous times) to connect to the in flight wifi (PR115 SFO-MNL). Better of providing your own movies using your idevice.
