Shows potential, but there are some GLARING issues
I love the idea of this platform. Was a big fan of Comixology and was gutted when Amazon killed the service.
Panel flow in the app is smooth BUT WHY IS THERE NO OPTION TO ZOOM IN?
A phone screen is convenient but is hardly the optimal size to read a comic book.
The app shows title pages of comics as a single page, with impossible to read text. This could be simply mitigated with a pinch to zoom feature, however this isn’t an option.
There also doesn’t seem to be an option to pre-download comics for future reading

Very Smooth Panel by Panel
I got a free copy of Absolute Batman #1, and decided to try it on my phone even though I have a big tablet. I was really impressed. Of course, on a phone, you’re best off changing orientation every so often, but it’s worth it.
The simple tweak to make the surrounding area visible but darkened is a really nice touch. Going panel by panel in action scenes feels even better now than I remembered it being. Very kinetic. Very natural. I’ll definitely be looking for more books on here, and I feel comfortable with reading on my phone when I don’t have the tablet with me.
There’s no purchases in the app, and I’m totally fine with that decision.

Well Designed
All around a decent looking and feeling app. Definitely some room for improvement but nice nonetheless.
Would appreciate a zoom function while reading some small text on frameflow mode. And in-app browsing of the store would be highly appreciated!

Less than promised
I downloaded the app as it promised to be everything that Comixology was before Amazon bought it over, but it is simply a place to read the digital comics that you’ve already purchased on the Neon Ichiban website.
I want to able to make my purchases THROUGH the app, not have the app as a conduit for a library bought elsewhere.
I stopped purchasing on Comixology the minute they changed the purchase model, and genuinely haven’t bought a comic since. The whole reason I stopped was that an app, that was already perfect for the consumer, decided to add extra steps to make those purchases. If Neon Ichiban brings back in app purchasing of comics, I’ll be all over it, but as of right now, it’s simply the same, downgraded version of Comixology that made me stop in the first place.
