Intelligent fun

Involving and interesting. Changes every day. Better than the newspaper

Stop asking for reviews!

The games are great. Asking for a review after finishing each time is WAY TOO NEEDY!

Play Every Day

Best puzzle app for your money, period.

Tons of great games, yet the format is usually awful

Not sure who thought it was a good idea to have the input numbers for sudoku in two separate lines instead of the obvious 3x3 grid, but they’re probably the same person that decided that “vivid” would be a really “fun” wordle word. Also not having the candidates auto delete when that same number is put in the same row, column, or box is pretty basic stuff for any sudoku app at this point, not for NYT Games tho!

Sellouts

Been playing these games for years for free, and they added a pay wall subscription.

Change the connections back

change the connections to it’s original position, this was so stupid it’s in such an awkward spot.

Nonexistent words; colloquialisms

More recent crossword puzzles of all sizes using made up words like “emend” and colloquialisms not universally known. STOP IT! Start vetting your creators a little better.

Sunday Funday!

Every Sunday we head to mom's and make dinner and cast the Sunday crossword to the TV and do it together. We get some bonding time and a mental workout, and sometimes even the surly teens throw out an answer. During the week, mom and my brother and me compete on Wordle and Connections. Good (NY) times!

Game fun going down

I'm not sure what it is, because I'm not any less intelligent than I was a year ago but I feel like there's been some change in the creation of the games. Are you using AI? It seems like, Wordle is just stacked against you now. I used to quite often win in three or four guesses, but now it's taking me six to guess them quite a a lot of the time, or I miss completely. I feel like that can't just be coincidence.

Please fix the upper margin on connections!

The latest update looks like someone meant to add a margin of 20 and accidentally made it 200 and QA just missed it. It’s harder to look at to play so please fix it!

Great fun.

WORDLE WORD MEANING

This is overall a beautiful and very well done, entertaining and stimulating puzzle app and the subscription is fairly cheap to let you unlock and be able to play the full archive of every single category of puzzles.
The only two things that I’d like to review are one more of a question than a critic but would it be possible to add a meaning definition at the end of the WORDLE sessions? Not being an english speaking native sometimes I would miss or even luckily guess the right answer but often I dont really know what that specific word means and it does make me wonder if there could be a way to include the definition somehow and if not i would really love to know why not? sorry if im being demanding but it is honestly just curiosity.
The second thing is way less serious and probably more playful and even personal because is the feeling that the puzzles are really so american culture related that it makes it oh so hard but yes that is just a little whinge please don’t get offended by it I do understand that it is NYT Games and I truly enjoy playing it finally because it is one of the only ways I stop doom scrolling and actually put my brain to work so i think a huge thank you and deserved congratulations are necessary you have created a marvellous game and I am grateful for the possibility to enjoy playing.
Just adding now that it was disappointing that the wordle word of today was a word already used in the past especially because *spoiler alert* the word was FOCUS and it could’ve easily been HOCUS which has not yet been used in the game which made me particularly mad because I’ve made it in 4 instead of 3 guesses and also because paying for the full version I would not expect repeated solutions, will take another star out.

Down clues do not go grey or go back to black correctly

***********************
Why do you keep making this worse?

The dark black boxes around the current clue are terrible.

The highlighting of the pertinent boxes when the theme is revealed has gone away.

The completed down clues are not grayed out as they are completed. Please fix.

And please don’t have the info open through the puzzle.

older comments below, you don’t have to bother reading them

Paywalls Galore

I was considering paying for the service until they put even the Wordle bot behind the paywall. Now I am determined never to pay for it

NYT Games is my everything

I love it sooooooo much ❤️❤️❤️ more than humans😳 I adore you NYT😍 I am obsessed 👏🏼😘 It’s my life! And I also love baguettes and seahorses and unicorns🌈

A great start to the day

How do I know if I don’t have dementia? Let me count the Sudokus. And the Spelling Bee Geniuses. Maybe no Genius, but I can still find words, thank goodness - and NYT games.

Can’t play on NY subway

What better place to play NYTimes games than on the NY subway? But you can’t, except for the crossword. Why not? Because the games require an internet connection to start. There is no internet on the subway. And more often than not, there is insufficient time during a stop while riding the train to make a connection that is good enough for the app via the internet available at stations. Crossword works.. but none of the other games. It is clearly not in the users interest to force us to connect to the internet to do a word search game - preventing me from playing the game in the only window of time I want to play it. Fix this already - it has been years.

The Crossword Archive…

…has become a refuge for me. A trip down memory lane as I progress backward through the archive (I’ve made it back to 2009 so far). Forgotten pop culture references, quaint terms for emerging tech, events which were current at the time, now faded memories and people once familiar, now faintly recalled. The archive goes back in time almost as far as my birth year and I can only hope Father Time lets me reach that end.
