Your 6.34.0 & 6.36.1 updates
I enjoy playing the games, but it kept crashing until I deleted it and reinstalled. That wiped out my complete history of about two years. Plus, your Sudoku is not working correctly as it is not saying whether a number is placed correctly, meaning it is accepting that the number is correctly placed until you reach a point that you run out of spaces. The game is basically unplayable
So you have updated to 6.36.1 and the Sudoku is still unplayable, don't you actually read feedback NYT Games? I am seriously considering unsubscribing from your games app as I do consider what you are offering is now sub-stAndard now

Too long to load
The app opens right away but the games take forever to load when you tap on one. If I had know this I would have saved my money and just did the online version without an account.

Over 200 ‘partners’ to send data to, and you sit there and wonder why everyone uses the website with adblockers, then have the gall to complain? I do wonder why.
Too many ‘try hard’ clues and answers (writing this on August 5th where a clue was ‘Stephen from V for Vendetta’, the answer was NOT Stephen Fry but a complete nonentity instead)
There are other biscuits and cakes out there other than Oreo’s you know. Oh and Yoko Ono isn’t the only singer as well.

Truly Hated Today’s Puzzle
One of the worst I’ve ever solved in my 50 years of doing crosswords.
Update blocked hints
Hints don’t work in all puzzles, crosswords, etc. and in spelling bee it opens an unclosable page and You have to force close the app to close it. Fix it please!!

Wordle suggestion
Hey just a thought, but it would be a great improvement to have a definition of the word once you have completed the Wordle for the day. Would be a great addition to the Congratulations screen.
Battery drain / unexpected app closing
My battery life is awful when using this app after the last several updates. I can easily chew up 20% of my battery life just playing my morning games only. This app has taken an unbelievable downturn in the last several months.
Now anytime I navigate to any other app and then go back to NYT, the app closes down and disappears. Needing to restart your app several times is a huge downgrade.
Admins: Please just roll back your several past “upgrades” and allow this app to work again. You’re ruining it with your untested features.

Lacks Quality Control
Games are buggy. For example, their mini and midi crossword games have broken function icons. Basic user interface stuff that would take less than an hour to fix. Yet they go u fixed for months and months.
You Know Why
Yeah, you know why. How about this: when I put it side-by-side next to my browser, it makes the browser go away. Why do you do that? Do you just not have the skill to make it possible to use the browser side-by-side on the screen? Or is there some other reason...
Updated review:
Left a 2 star review due to the recent updates putting everything behind a paywall.
The mini, new midi, Letterboxd, and Tiles are all now behind paywalls. Just noticed today that even Spelling Bee is now behind a paywall after 7 tries..
I understand these apps take work, money, effort, and time through so many hands to make happen and that this is not a necessity… but games like this also help educate and keep minds going and have serious value there. Whenever companies put educational content behind a paywall though, I have to wonder if what their priorities are since to me - widespread access = a broader reach.
Also keep in mind that people are exhausted by the subscription model. Everything requires an app and a subscription and I know for myself at least, I am tired of it.. I’ve thinned out my subscriptions and don’t touch anything with one anymore shifting more and more toward analog options.
If you’re worried about income, perhaps consider a 1 time payment and skip subscriptions altogether (ideally free would be the best option but, just some ideas). I guess I shouldn’t be surprised with the state of the writing at NYT thay their apps would also be less than ideal. Still disappointing regardless.

New constant notifications
Very disappointed with new notifications which make the product virtually unusable. I’ve tried to contact nyt but no one has fixed the bug

Enjoyed playing. Great games. Then NYT got greedy and took most of the free games away and put them behind a subscription. Disappointed to see more and more of these companies get away with this behavior 😡

Sudoku
The sudoku interface is not intuitive or consistent. As a player of sudoku using many apps I can tell you what makes your interface more difficult to use. When a ‘normal’ number is entered and it is a candidate in that number’s row, column or square, it should be deleted as a candidate. Most other apps work this way, which eliminates extra work and more chances to make errors. If the developers played other sudoku games, they could see how your interface is lacking in this regard. In addition, there are two ways a player is notified when an error is made: a red dot is put in the erroneous box or the error counter is incremented. If the error counter is not checked visually after every move, a player can easily make several moves before noticing a wrong one has been made, which may result in being unable to solve the puzzle. I hope this helps to improve your version of sudoku to the level of your other games. Thanks!
