I’m sure the app works well, i’m just wanting to be healthy and not have to pay for it lol. We already have to pay for so many subscriptions, an app helping you eat healthy definitely should not be something you have to pay for. Deleted the app immediately.

I’m not sure I can trust a good scanner that scores hot dogs as 100/100 or nutrition bars with brown rice syrup at 90+.
Making me subscribe
Every time I open the app it just shows that Olive is showing a full-screen paywall stating “we miss you, here’s 80% off” with no visible X, Skip, or Not now button. That usually isn’t intended behavior.

Looks like a really good app, but you can’t even try it without having to enter a credit card and I’m not doing that

We intentionally chose a member-supported model because we believe it’s better for our users. Instead of selling ads, accepting money from food brands, or allowing companies to pay for better rankings, Olive is funded directly by members. Jumping through stupid hoops
I just wanted to be able to scan things, but I’m already at the store. It wants me to scan 15 items from my pantry to give me an audit before I can even use the app. I’m about to tell my bank to dispute this stupid charge.

I wish there was a permanant free option with ads or something like other apps. $50 per year is RIDICULOUS!!!!!
Waste of time
This took forever to fill out and get through and there is no free advertised version it’s all pay, no way to just do what it’s advertised as a “food scanner” I haven’t given any company a review before on anything, but this was so annoying and irritating I had to say something for anyone who was misled from

Money grabber
They don’t care about your health only money Yuka is way better free at least and gives you information not in exchange for your money/ credit card
Slow and Buggy
Feels that I got scammed. After I did a free trial, they charge me a full year of subscription even though I was just one day late and cancelled immediately. After I paid, the app became super slow and took almost one day to open the app to scan. I don’t recommend it at all. Try something else.
Can’t even try it without submitting payment information
Don’t bother downloading unless you’re prepared to submit cc information. Otherwise you’ll spend 5 minutes “personalizing” your experience just to hit a paywall

They ask you hundreds of questions before you’re able to use the app. Don’t expect to use the scanner right off the bat. Expect to devote almost 15-20 minutes before you’re able to use it

i just wanted to check one item on this app and had to go through like 10 minutes of set up and had to sign up for a free trial. super annoying. you shouldn’t have to go through 30 individual screens just to find out if you even want to use the app, then be forced to sign up for a subscription to even be able to use the app at all. waste of my time.

Conflicting Information
I used Olive for the last month and I like the interface, but… I found 2 instances of the same exact food having vastly different ratings. I submitted these to their team and received a response that they’d look into it. But it makes me not trust the app. For example for Dave’s White Bread Dine Right, one entry says “avoid” the other “good”.

It’s like joining a cult
Drags you through a long, long process before they try to get you to sign up for a monthly membership. Hold the button down to commit? Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? Yuka is 10,000 fold better.
Going Green with Olive
Best healthy eating app I’ve used thus far. Others have had limited information or limited on what items could be scanned. That’s not the case with Olive!

i like the look and idea of this app, i didn’t spend 5 minutes on it, it will try and make you put in your payment information or else you won’t be able to use this, i’m sure you guys can do better, i dont care how long your free trial is i will not be giving you money so I can have assistance on what im buying. i’ll just use google thanks!
