What's New in one sec | screen time + focus

5.2.7

July 3, 2026

We’ve been working on a series of smaller improvements once again for one sec: - Improves app-usage insights during breathing interventions, adding a new “24-hour time spent” mode. - Fixes a hang when editing custom breathing prompts. - Fixes breathing prompt selection so global prompts are used when app-specific prompts are empty. - Fixes empty Healthy Alternatives screens. - Fixes Good Morning Countdown allow-list behavior. - Automatically ends live activities for manual blocks when the block is over. - Improves random text interventions to avoid offensive substrings. - General stability, accessibility, localization, and maintenance improvements. Thanks a lot for using one sec. If you like the app & our continuous work, please support us by writing a review on the App Store. That helps a lot! – Frederik

Non-Functional

They will happily accept your money for a subscription, but will not respond when you report an error via email. Do not recommend.

Greatest ever

I love this app. I used it for quite a long time for college because I was procrastinating by going on social media so much. At some point I ended up having to delete it because I was finding work arounds but have finally downloaded it again because I get so sucked into instagram daily. One sec my goat. I tried using opal for a change of pace but immediately got annoyed with how it is set up and came back to one sec.

Works

Sometimes I delete this because I get pissy about waiting 30 seconds to scroll, only to discover that I’m totally cooked without it.

Took away features for free users

Guess I’m too poor to benefit from an app like this. Raising the price and taking away options I already had is insulting. I genuinely enjoyed this app until it stopped allowing me to use it without paying a large recurring fee. Sad.

Massively useful app and great devs

This app is great for controlling my problematic social media use and when I pointed out an issue I hit, the devs communicated closely and fixed it!

FAQ

What does this app do?

This app introduces intentional friction to distracting apps and websites, making them less appealing for long-term use. It works by delaying access to these apps instead of completely blocking them, which is a key psychological difference that helps users build sustainable habits and reduce overall screen time.

How does it differ from standard screen time limits?

Unlike traditional screen time limits or app blockers that completely prevent access, this app adds a slight delay or interruption when you try to open a distracting app. This subtle friction is designed to break unconscious habits and encourage more intentional usage, leading to a significant reduction in app usage over time.

Is this app free to use?

The app offers a free version that allows you to set up limitations for one app of your choice. For access to more features and to set up limitations for multiple apps, a premium version is available through various subscription options, including annual, monthly, and lifetime unlocks.

What kind of apps can I use this with?

You can configure this app with any application you wish to use less or more intentionally. Popular use cases include social media platforms, games, video streaming services, dating apps, stock trading apps, and adult content sites. A free Safari extension is also available to interrupt access to websites.

What happens if I get stuck scrolling?

The app includes a feature called 'Re-Intervention' which acts as a 'Doom Scroll Emergency Brake.' After a set period of time, such as five minutes, you will be automatically removed from the social media app. You will then need to go through the intervention process again to unlock more time, helping you regain control.
