Poor connectivity
Terrible app. Hit and miss is an understatement. It’s either a long wait to connect or no connection at all.

Not reliable what so ever. The camera almost never loads the first time you open the app. I have notifications for motion, cry, and sound set to high as well as clips recorded when those things are detected. We breathe and it sends a notification, but my daughter climbed out of bed 2 different times and it didn’t notify us. The last recorded clips both times were me leaving her, then running in because she’s fallen and crying at the top of her lungs. The only positive I can give it is when it’s working the camera quality is great. I would not recommend.

Don’t waste your money
We Got the dream sock for our son, and the machine is so tedious and can’t read right. Also the mount beeps at you when you unplug it from charger, even if sock is plugged into it. We aren’t using the sock and it screams at you and wakes already tired parents up.
Sleep Assist Function is the Worst
It works, but if your baby is like mine and needs to be rocked to sleep, it’s a hassle. Every time we start her bedtime routine the alarm goes off, waking her up. It says to go check on your little one. Thanks, but I’m already holding her. To my knowledge there is no turning this option off.
Constant bugs
The app keeps freezing and the camera picture disappears all the time. I have to exit the app every time I want to go back to it. The camera also freezes and shows an old video.

July 2026 Update Issues
I have used this device nightly with my nine month old, and have loved it up until the most recent app update. The camera frequently shows off-line when I am in the app., And the sock base station alarms multiple times throughout the night- alerting me that there is a poor connection between the sock and the base station. I have cleaned the sock and sensor per the manufacturers instructions, and insured that I did not have any loss of Wi-Fi connectivity during these occurrences. I know the app update says “bug fixes”, I’m just not sure what bugs they fixed.
Outside of these very recent issues- we love the device. It gives us such peace of mind.

Terrible software
App constantly loses connection to WiFi, rendering the entire product useless.
Will not connect to wifi
I’m very tech savvy and for the life of me cannot get this to connect to the 2.4G WiFi no matter what I reset. NEVER BUYING THIS AGAIN
Boo: Paid Subscription
Owlet introduced a paid subscription for extra insights, which is such a disappointing money grab. The owlet is already an expensive product, so I would have hoped that Owlet would want to serve their customers by giving everyone the latest and greatest of insights that the base product is capable of. Imagine if iPhones made you pay for the IOS updates! It feels like that.

Constant app issues, but we love the sock
Yet another update, yet another thing that isn’t working correctly now. Someone do a beta testing app before releasing to the actual app! Constant camera connectivity issues (we have been using this for 3+ years, we’ve done all the troubleshooting, save your breath), a couple of months ago after an update all of a sudden the sound went completely awful on the cameras and it has to be turned all the way up and now everything sounds garbled (yes, we’ve tried two different cameras, and in multiple locations/homes), that has never resolved, videos only viewable for 24hrs without a subscription (BS), and now the latest update, the Picture in Picture function has gone completely black and doesn’t work anymore. The sock gave us peace of mind, and we love it, (for ppl who complain about false alarms with the sock, learn to put it in correctly and use socks or footie pj’s - I have the most restless child and we have had minimal issues), but good god, the camera and app issues have been a constant source of irritation. We have a basic sound monitor as backup because we can’t trust the app/camera to stay connected throughout the night. Every “bug fix and performance enhancement” update released seems to create more issues than whatever it was they were trying to “fix”. Updates need to be tested before being pushed, that clearly is NOT happening.

Camera or App problem!
I have to clear the app out of my task bar to make the camera load, if I have forgotten to do this it won’t load!
Nice to have it
We’ve had a great experience with the Owlet Dream Sock. It was easy to set up, comfortable for our newborn, and the app is simple to use. The heart rate, oxygen, and sleep tracking give us extra peace of mind, especially during the night.
The only thing they can change is that there can occasionally be connection issues or alerts if the sock isn’t positioned perfectly. Other than that, it’s been a fantastic product and has helped us feel more confident while our baby sleeps.
I would definitely recommend it to other new parents looking for added reassurance.

Peace of mind
Great for peace of mind and consistent information. Camera loses WiFi often and must be removed as a device and reset to work. Wish camera was able to move via app.
Not worth the money
Pairing is as painful as smashing your face into a brick wall. There’s no PC/web access just phone app only. The sock was an absolute waste of money. Just buy a cheap general cam nothing special about Owlet to warrant the premium price.
Doesn’t work with 5G
In order to connect my Owlet devices I had to reconfigure my router temporarily to have split bands IE 2.4 and 5 GHz. The Owlet devices only work on 2.4, this is a huge drawback because most modern modem/routers are dual band and switch between the two. I’m surprised that Owlet hasn’t lost a bunch of business because of these because even for someone who is tech savvy this was a huge pain in the butt.

Improvement … yes , but is inconsistent when it works its awsome but for the money I’m paying the down time on this camera makes it not worth it and I bought new camera and sock which allegedly fixes these issues , and no it’s not my network tried offical fixes and unofficial ones
Worst app I’ve ever used
Constantly disconnects from the wifi despite having the requirements. You pay so much money and you can’t even use it fully and keep an eye on stats. Will be looking elsewhere next time. Avoid!
Unreliable and expensive
This thing unexpectedly disconnects from the WiFi so you can’t see your kid. Just threw mine in the trash after hearing my baby screaming from not being heard for God knows how long.
Great Marketing Horrible Product
The Owlet hardware has potential, but the app completely ruins the experience. It’s clunky, slow, and constantly has connectivity issues with the Owlet cameras. Loading the live feed takes far too long, the camera frequently disconnects, and I often have to force close and reopen the app just to get it working again.
What’s most frustrating is that I have a $20 baby monitor camera with its own app that connects faster, stays connected, and is significantly more reliable than a premium Owlet system. When you’re checking on your baby, you need an app that works instantly and consistently. Unfortunately, the Owlet app falls far short of that expectation. Until the software is dramatically improved, I can’t recommend this product.
