Easy & Effective

Great and easy app to use to burn extra calories!!!

Response from developer

Thank you for using Paceriva! Happy to hear you enjoy the Japanese Walking method and find it helpful to burn calories and lose weight!

Super!!!

The app is very convenient and easy to use. You choose your interval and start burning calories :)
The reminders to change pace are very helpful, so you don’t forget when it’s time to switch.
It’s more comfortable to start with a slower pace.

Response from developer

Thank you very much for your review! You're right, a workout must start with warming up and end with cooling down. We will definitely implement this option in the Paceriva Japanese Walking app.

Almost perfect. Needs an Apple Watch app.

I came across this app through a recommendation from Claude when I wasn’t happy with another app I was using. Thank you, AI. Honestly, the only feature missing here is a companion Apple Watch app for times I might not want to bring my iPhone with me, like if I’m just walking around the park across the street. This checks every other box for me though.

Response from developer

Thank you for the useful suggestion! We will definitely proceed with an Apple Watch companion app, as it will make Japanese Walking trainings more comfortable.

Makes it easy

Love how after 3 min voice tells you go fast or slow

No

Sorry, really bad. No options to increase the number of intervals, a weird effect by which you have to keep it open to receive notifications, but then it reduces the sound of any app in the background.

Response from developer

Hi, we're sorry that the Japanese Walking app didn't meet your expectations. Please give us one more chance - the new version works in the background, so you can listen your favorite music during your workouts, also you can adjust the number and length of intervals.

Like app, but can’t connect to Apple Health as advertised

I bought the app because of this feature, but it neither shows up in my list of apps or appears connected. This makes it very klugy. I also can’t connect it to my watch. Okay. It is connected, but it doesn’t show in my list of apps, I still can’t get it on my Apple Watch.

Needs just a little tweaking

This really would be perfect except that the alert for slow walking is almost inaudible. The alert to switch to fast walking is nice and loud. It just needs to be at a consistent level (or adjustable by the user).

Response from developer

Thank you so much for your feedback! We really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. We tried to reproduce the issue but couldn’t manage to. Could you please clarify which specific sound the problem occurs with? This would help us investigate and fix it more effectively. Thanks again for your help! 🙏

When My iPhone Locks

I’m in my 3-day trial. First day, when my iPhone locked, I did not hear the transition beeps and the bird whistle. So I had to hold my phone in my hand for the remaining intervals. The setup and the concept is really great. I like the fact it connects to my iHealth.

Response from developer

Thank you for your feedback — it’s very important to us! We’re happy to let you know that we’ve updated the app: it now includes voice guidance for interval changes even when the app is locked!

A few Big problems

I like music when I walk. If I toggle between music and walking app the sound is muted. Example: if im on the
Music app I cant hear the alert sounds for change of
pace bc its muted. When on the Japanese then, when on this Walking app my music mutes. If I turn up music while in this app and toggle back to the music app it breaks my eardrums. My phone is an Apple iPhone. It would be helpful too if the alert sounds were different depending on change of pace speed. Also, a longer duration of the sound would be helpful.

UPD: We’ve added voice guidance for the timer, which fixes the issue you described! Thank you for your feedback and for pointing out the issues. Regarding the refund – it is handled by Apple, so please contact them directly. As a developer I cannot process refunds myself, but my settings allow Apple to approve any refund request. As for the sound, unfortunately Apple has strict limitations for background timers, so sounds don’t always work perfectly. Still, notifications should arrive normally, and I will work on improving this and adding different alert sounds. I’m sorry to have disappointed you and that it led to a one-star review.

The price

It was advertised at 19.95 but i was charged over $50
Why?

Wow!

What a great App and simple to use. Great tool to add to your workouts!

Response from developer

Thank you so much for your kind words! We’re thrilled to hear you’re enjoying the app and that it’s helping you with your workouts. Keep up the great work!

Big nope

I should expect that the app keeps working when I lock my phone but it does not! How can something so critical be missing? Especially for a paid app.

Response from developer

We’ve released an update where we fixed the bug. Yes, you’re right — unfortunately, due to the specifics of iOS, the background timer works inconsistently: for some users it functions properly, while for others it doesn't. Thank you for letting us know, as it was working fine on our devices. We hope you won't encounter this issue anymore. By the way, the timer functionality itself is free — there’s no need to pay for it.

Good, but can be better

Minus 2 stars for
- inconsistent work of timer when phone is locked or app is working in background
- no notifications on Lock Screen
- no Apple Watch support
- walks only count as one per day (eg u can walk 2 a day, but on calendar you gonna see just highlighted day)
- also no stats (total walking time for day, intervals and etc
- no apple health integration
