Crashes every few minutes

Terrible app, crashes all the time. You literally have to close it and reopen it every time you play a video.

Also the downloadable free content for the colosseum is the same as the paid audio guide, but it’s only available in English.

If you are another language you have to pay for the audio guide in that language.

Problem with purchases

Purchased two of the audio guides, wasn’t able to download either of them. Called the line that appears in the app got no help at all. Emailed too and still waiting for a response. Requested a refund with apple since I’m leaving Rome tomorrow and won’t be able to visit the site on this trip.

Response from developer

Sorry for the inconvenience, we are in the process of checking the app. In case the refund has still not been processed, please email us at innovation@coopculture.it with your bank details and the purchase receipt and we will process the refund. Thank you.

Needs a lot of work to be useful

Downloaded while at the Forum. It wasn’t clear that there was no useful information without going through extra steps. Tried using PNR to download audio guide, did not work.

Tickets are not being downloaded

The app is not updated since 7 months, I tried to download my tickets to the app but it is not downloading, save your time and don’t download it

I should have paid attention to the other reviews

I attempted to buy the Forum/Palatine audio guide and it stopped downloading at 43%. The app froze and I didn’t get what I paid for. I’ve reported this to Apple and requested a refund of my€ 4.99.

I thought this would work on my home broadband connection before I left for Italy. I was wrong.

Response from developer

Dear user, we are sorry for the inconvenience. We thank you for your report.

Nothing works

Paid 4.99 for the Palatine hill guide and it wouldn’t download - even back at the hotel with Wi-Fi it is stuck in an endless pay loop. The free guides are so short and not informative. Don’t bother with this app it is terrible.

Response from developer

Gentle User, we apologise for the problem with your download. Please write an e-mail to innovation@coopculture.it indicating the payment receipt and your bank details to make the refund.

Map does not display

The map only shows the points of interest…the background, which would normally be a map or an aerial view, is completely blank.

Response from developer

Gentle User, We have run a check on several devices and have verified that the display of the Roman Forum and Palatine audio guide map is correct.

Non Functioning in the Colosseo

Unfortunately, due to the extremely glitchy app and instability of the wifi and signal speeds at the Colosseum, the app will not work in any functioning way. Audio downloads will break before completion and are virtually impossible to reliably restart, and the sloppy loading of the text guide makes it far to disruptive and immersion breaking to use. Tour companies should warn you to download and set all of this up prior to your arrival, as any other method will cause them to break. I’ll be seeking a refund from both my booking company and the app, as even with only slow international travel speeds no other location or event in Rome has caused me similar trouble. I’m off to explore the colosseum on my own.

Buyer Beware

If you buy an audio guide the app will charge you immediately, but if you internet is too slow or the download gets interrupted, you’re out of luck—very much feels like a vending machine that gets stuck, except there’s no option to hit it a couple of times to get things moving . . .

Response from developer

we are sorry if you have encountered problems during the download and that, in case you did not use the audioguide purchased, you can ask for a refund through the store.

Maybe they fixed it?

I’ve seen some strong negative reviews on this app, but maybe they fixed it? I didn’t buy tickets through the app itself, instead downloaded the app after the fact and added my tickets to the app using the confirmation code. It worked great! I did all this over wifi, from my AirBnB in Italy, and the scanning of my tickets and the purchase/download/use of the audio tours went very smoothly. I’d say the content of the audio tours was similar (a little less) than what was on the signs at the Colosseum. The app is worth it to have your tickets handy, since you have to scan them at both the Colosseum and the Forum. Their COVID info was also up to date.

Thank you very much from all the staff

Excellent app

You can save yourself the 6 euros audio guide. This app does it. No stuck issues like the other reviews say.

Is this a joke?

Clearly designed by someone who very much wants you to NOT visit any sights. When it opens, and it is not guaranteed that it will, the navigation is horrid. Once you figure that out, actually adding something to the cart takes forever. And if you do get something added to your cart, good luck finalizing the purchase. In over an hour of trying I was never able to get a transaction to happen.

No tickets, deleting the app. Plenty of stuff to see and do in Rome without having to pay to put up with this sort of frustration.

App doesn’t start. What a joke

Stuck at the loading page

App doesn’t start

App gets stuck on splash page every time I try to use it. Works 1 out of every 20 times I open it

Hahahahahaha. A joke!

Okay, let me describe the scenario to you. The parking around this building wasn’t horrible. There were a bunch of open spaces. We took quite a TREK to reach the entrance into the Colosseum. Like many of you, we had to wait in a line to enter. Once our turn came, we were told to go to some website. We went there and it brought up a 404 Error. The helping guy said to download an app instead. After getting the app, we followed pages of instructions in Italian. At least this guy was nice enough to help the clueless tourists. The app has so many glitches and bugs. There WAS a menu at the top for different languages, but that went away too. It went away once the company started asking for a payment. That led to a different website with only italian. That helper guy was helpful here, too. The one thing that makes ZERO sense is that the app was just a website branded as an app. The whole time it felt like a link that you press in the description of a youtube video. If you know, you know.

In conclusion, this app is trash and should not be a requirement to get into the Colosseum. Only this one helper guy was nice and the rest of the staff was rude and ignorant. Most of them were on their phones and were ignoring us, the visitors. I would definitely recommend entering this place, but I would be prepared for a large headache. What a country...
