Don’t have a customer do a Reversal or Dispute charges
Would give 5 stars, but if a customer decides to cancel or reverse there transaction. They take the money off you immediately and puts your account-negative. When I contacted customer service it took almost 2 months to get my money back. I couldn’t use the credit card machine until I payed the negative balance. And it was a accidental reversal by one of my client. Very stressful and process should be speed up for merchants because it does cause a interruption in being able to use the machine. Other than that every thing has been good with the app n device.

They take control of YOUR money
Don’t use PayPal they are crooks who take their money off the top and put it on hold almost every transaction waiting 21 days for a customer to have a button to allow it to be okay to get your money and apparently they don’t like having to talk to u about it they will charge you extra for their own business mistakes and consider you responsible for anything they do wrong then ban you from using pay pal they are a joke just crooks who can’t do the one thing they are supposed to do without problems giving u ur money!! Cash app and Venmo and even square card reading is better and absolutely no problems from them I 5 years .. save yourself the trouble choose a more professional company

Great app, Card reader is meh
I like the app a lot, especially that when I create catalog items they show up across all devices that log in. Being able to see a lot of transaction details and metrics on the app is better and more informative than the browser site, which is puzzling to me. One drawback on the app is that it had difficulty completing sales using the Venmo option.
The card reader on the other hand keeps going to sleep every 10-15 minutes and then I have to reconnect it manually. Not good performance during craft fairs making customers wait.

Overall great platform
I bought one of the high end cars readers from the store, wouldn’t work when I received it. Got it warrantied and that one crapped out also. I use the two other versions, the chip and swipe as well as the chip and tap readers. It would be nice if there was a more reliable card terminal PayPal could create where the customer can do Tap, Chip, Swipe and enter their pin information without touching a screen, or a personal cell phone. With the pandemic, people are still skeptical about touch someone else’s devices.

PayPal is great. Now you can pay at cvs with ur Apple phone
PayPal was one of the first online business that I can remember it's one of the best ones and it's safe to use because they to 24 hour Thurrell connection for no one to steal your codes or hack your name. They have especially unique to protect you as everything else you still have to be careful never put your passcode or email to a site or a new site I should say that's how they steal your passcodes do it when you know it's safe. However PayPal is awesome I highly recommend pay pal to everybody

Works great but has massive issues
The app does work when you can actually get logged into it, but in low signal areas you can barely get logged into the app. Sometimes even bringing up the app doesn’t always bring up the fingerprint authentication when it’s supposed to either. You have to close it and reopen it several times to get it to prompt. The most annoying feature of the app is the auto-logout at 5pm EST. There’s no way to turn that feature off. You run a card and while it tries to charge the card THEN you get a prompt saying you’re not logged in. Worthless. The “no signature required” for purchases under $50 doesn’t work if you use a chip reader. Only works on swipe and tap. I’ve been with this app for over 5 years and none of these things have been addressed.

PayPal offers hidden value🧐
It works perfectly. Yes you pay a fee per transaction, duh welcome to the working world. Super easy to set up. You do not need to pay for a swiper as the app does take cards manually. But the readers are inexpensive and customers love it. The app has everything you need to work remotely. Okay all that is neat, I really appreciate the invoice options. It’s so clean and professional. My clients love the proof of purchase. They also have a great credit card option. It’s crazy easy. They offer a bunch of business resources as well👍

This app gets worse by each update
I remember the first time this app came out and it used to save info, like the payer’s name. After the first major update, we have to input the name each time repeat customers pay. Before the update in 2020, we used to be able to see the payer’s name on the Sales History on iPhone, now you only see the date and amount. It also used to be able to auto-capitalize the payer’s name when you add them on iPhone, now it doesn’t auto capitalize. I still have the older version on my old iPhone 5 which didn’t update anymore and it is much better. I still see the payer’s name and it auto capitalizes when you input the payer. I truly wish PayPal would go back to the original app where it would auto save payer’s info.

GREAT...Except for one small, but major flaw
I decided to switch my business over to Paypal this week, after deciding that Sqaure just wasnt doing it for me.
1) 2.70% v.s. 2.75%, as a small business, every bit helps!
2) I can now take Venmo AND Paypal, along with all forms of NFC -- two more options then I previously had with Square -- good, good!
3) I have to take everyone who pays with a chip card, signature......
Lets talk about that one.
According to the app, I can turn off signatures under 50$. This is reasonable, I think, and mirrors Squares policy. However, what you are not told is that the no signature under 50$ only applies to: Venmo, Paypal, NFC (Apple / Google) and... magnetic swipe.
This turns out to be a small problem because you cannot swipe a magnetic card if you have a chip on it. In an apparent contactless world, I would like Paypal to imagine having to spray and sanitize my iPad after every customer who pays with a credit card, because every customer who pays for a 5$ or 10$ item has to sign for the transaction.
This turns what is easily a 5 star app, and a true competitor to Square into a 1 star app that is still sitting in the pit, while Square is running laps.
I like the app and the service but having every customer in line having to sign for their transaction is at least 7 years behind the service I have been enjoying with Square.
Fix it.

Not great for my small art business
It may be alright for some, but PayPal suspended my account for almost two weeks because they said they needed information about my business. I had money in there that I needed to pay bills with, but it was unavailable to me while they reviewed my case. I had to send articles of incorporation or a tax return or some similar paperwork, which I don’t have! I also had to send a receipt from a supplier. I paint rocks! My supplier is God!!! I don’t have a receipt! After about having a nervous breakdown trying to come up with the documents they require, I finally sent an invoice for business cards and a receipt from Hobby Lobby and 3 days later I have requested my money. Bills are late. I will be closing this account. It might make it more convenient for when I do art shows, but to me, it isn’t with the hassle they caused me!!!

Recent improvements
The app has had some bumpy updates lately, however they definitely accepted user feedback and fixed everything up. Most of the negative comments I see result from not reading the terms in their entirety, so read them! There’s important stuff there!
Overall, I enjoy using PayPal Here for accepting onsite payment. If I could have one wish, it would be to have more customization for printed and emailed receipts. I would love to be able to put a logo at the top, and change the information that is printed directly.

User for 18 years
I have to say prior to this year I had been singing praises to PayPal overall for 18 years (that’s how long I have used the company) as I rarely had any issues. This year for some reason the apps (I use 2) both seem to “forget” my password and I have had to change it over 10 times in less than a month to log into my account! It has also been telling me my account catalog is “unavailable” for over a month. Like most things I know it has updated and changed over the years but it really isn’t as user friendly as it once was.
That all being said I plan to stick with it til next year in hopes the “bugs” get worked out.

App is not compatible to iOS in dark mode!!!
I have tried to reach out to PayPal support and I was quite surprised by the response of the representative when I told her that there is an issue with this app in iOS 13 or 14 when using dark mode. In Light mode the app works and looks fine, but when in dark mode 90+% of the UI are unreadable! I would think that any app developer would want to know about this and jump on it to fix it. But that was not the response I got. I was told to just switch to light mode since it works in light mode!
Anyway, I sure hope they jump on it and either simply lock their app to only show the UI in light
Mode, or update the app UI design to work in dark mode as well. Hope PayPal will read this. Wish I could send screenshots in here.

Great Experience Except Hold Funds For 30 Days
I have used PayPal for personal and business use. It works very well and have not had any problems except key in entry payments are held for your 30 days from Customers which have paid. I understand their rationale as protecting the Customer if their are fraudulent use; however, when a business has been with you PayPal and a running record of great integrity and character; there should not be a problem. Our business verifies an government ID along with the credit card. Some out of the box thinking on PayPal needs other alternatives than holding a business hostage to their own funds by their Customers whom we have already provided the service and merchandise. Thank you for a more thoughtful solution than holding our business funds.

Great app
Downloaded app on the fly to support an event today. Very easy to use and intuitive. Only issue was getting the card reader to read the card; it worked sporadically at first but worked fine later. I’m guessing wifi strength impacts it. It’s easy to enter info by hand when the card won’t scan. Two suggestions: 1-please do away with the signature—it’s meaningless and dangerous in this day and age. 2- When you enter the item name, keep that in memory so it pops up each transaction unless you type in a new name.

Fantastic
I have been using pay here for about 7 years and I could not be more happy with them. I use this for my retail business and I love it. My money goes in immediately and I can use my money instantly after. There have been very minor bumps but worked through them. The app is very simple to use and I would recommend it to anyone. I know when I first began they held my money for a short period of time but now that I am a seasoned seller all my money goes in instantly including when I put in the numbers manually. 5 stars!

All of PayPal’s app are horrible.
So I had downloaded PayPal for personal use. And it would never connect my bank, it only sent one deposit and withdrawal instead of 2 so I couldn’t confirm. Tried to talk to an agent via message, and they didn’t get back to me within the day, so the next day I went to the same chat and whoever the agent was closed the chat without answering my question. And I couldn’t get ahold of anyone after that. Got rid of that app. And decided to get this one for my vary small business, and on this app it won’t upload my picture ID. Also when I go to help or the resolution center can’t find any answers, and it either freezes or doesn’t show anything. And I also couldn’t connect my bank with this app either, every time I put in the correct information and go to connect, it says “sorry we can’t process this information there’s an error try again later” so, I can’t do anything with these apps. I’m done trying, switching to something else.

Read the fine print for paypal business.
The holds paypal puts on customer money is almost 3 weeks or longer. We submitted all the required documents. Paypal didn't release the funds into our account. In the fine print it says they can hold the money if they think it's suspicious or if they think your selling something for to high of price. If paypal thinks you sneeze wrong they can hold the money. Its not a joke or a rant it's just the truth. Read the fine print and the list of reasons is so long after the first 3 or 4 you realize this is not where I want my business account through. I went through a traditional brick and mortar bank strictly because of this.

Great for service industry
I’ve been using pay-pal for for several years now. I use the swipe reader on an I-Phone 6 s. I started originally with an I-5. There have been some bumps along the way such as connectivity issues and a card reader that failed. I do business in remote areas with little to no cell service sometimes. The connection problems resulted from poor cell signal or too many folks using the same tower at the same time. Manual entry almost always did the trick. On few occasions I had to take the customer info an manually enter the payment once I got back to the office.
On the card reader, I learned from Pay Pal technical that there is a battery inside the swipe devise that just plan wears out. They sent me a new one and I was up and running again with no issues. Funds on transactions seem to always be available immediately or within the next day.

PayPal is a safe “professional” app.
Rules and regulations protect both buyer and sellers. As a 2nd generation small business owner. I’ve used the app for over 15 Yrs. and in the beginning, had to be patient while waiting for a transaction to post. In time funds were available the next business day and eventually no partial holds were placed on payments for possible charge backs, unauthorized or disputed transactions. I now enjoy real time payments in full, less fees, with no minimum balance requirements.
If your customer is called by their bank card and are asked about a transaction and they don’t recognize or forgot then dispute the charge. The “Genie” can’t be put back in the bottle.
I’ve learned to avoid getting a financial institution involved in a dispute by communicating first with the customer about their error. Then refund for services or purchase, avoiding weeks or even months long review done by the financial institution.
