Top reviews

Waste of an app. Prevents most actions.

This app is supposed to what you use to turn off your charges when you are in one of your cars when carpooling /have more than 2 passengers. However, because it assumes the driver is making the request.. you can’t really ever use it as even as PASSENGER. This basically makes it useless to carpoolers unless the car owner remembers to turn on feature before ever moving their car. It’s is completely useless to me/my family who often drive into the city together because no passenger can turn on carpooling. HUGE functional gap and HORRIBLE user experience. Shame on GaDOT and makers of this verify app.

Response from developer

Thank you for your feedback. Georgia is a hands-free state, and the app cannot determine whether the driver or a passenger is using it. As a safety precaution, Peach Pass Verify can only be used while the vehicle is not in motion. We recommend starting your carpool verification as soon as you enter your vehicle and buckle your seatbelt.

Rigged Ratings

I was genuinely curious if I was the only one who thought this app was awful in every sense. But I see that it got 4 stars, so then maybe it’s just me. So I scrolled through every…single…review. I see a ton of reviews, almost all of which are 1 star. A couple are 2 star. Nothing higher. Please tell me how they averaged 4 stars?

No option to end trip

For the last 3-4 trips the end trip button has not been visible, leaving me only with the option to cancel trip, which does not waive the fee. Any idea what is wrong?

So flawed

Peachpass is meant for CARPOOLING, meaning more than just the driver is in the car. You should be able to start carpool while the vehicle is in motion by allowing a PASSENGER to do it. I’m currently writing this review as a passenger! So dumb.

I’ve read the responses about Georgia being a hand free state but not every person in the car has to be hands free! Not being able to verify who is pressing the button is a lame excuse for not allowing us to indicate that the person pressing is not the driver.

Response from developer

Thank you for your feedback. In addition to Georgia being a Hands-Free state, Peach Pass Verify cannot determine who is making changes while the car is moving, the vehicle needs to be stopped before beginning the carpool.

Annoying

Very annoying that you can’t start carpool when vehicle is in motion even if it’s passenger is the one doing it. Cause you would forget to turn it on and have to stop vehicle on the road to turn on carpool

Response from developer

Thank you for your feedback. We understand that it can be frustrating to wait until the vehicle is stationary before starting the verification process, but this rule exists to ensure safety. Since the system cannot identify who is making changes while the car is moving, the vehicle needs to be stopped before beginning the carpool.

Just terrible

Terrible since change. Go back to old way. And there is only 1 5star review, all others are 3 or less so how does it have 4.1 overall score??

Money Grab

This app is built so poorly even in its simplicity. As someone who builds apps there is no reason to have a 15 minute wait time. There are 10 ways to do it without that. Also why can’t I trigger carpool while moving. There are people in the car that can do it. Isn’t that the point. So stupid.

Response from developer

Thank you for your feedback. The app cannot determine who is initiating the verification process. For safety reasons, commuters can only begin the verification process when the car is not in motion.

Stop deleting my review

I’ve rated this app 1 star multiple times now and my review keeps getting taken down. This app stinks! Let people change the occupant count while in motion and let us set it and forget it if we carpool everyday

Interaction

If you have 3 people in the car and decide to use the carpool, it will not allow a passenger to activate the non toll function when driving.

Poor design

It’s “easy” to use but why can’t I start a carpool when my car is moving?? I don’t always remember to start before driving. Also it’s stupid for AFV plates I have to use this app. Go back to what it was before!

Horrible app

This used to be a pretty easy process but now has become a major time suck and inconvenience. There is no way you guys are 4.1 out of 5 stars. Almost every review you have is 1 star….the math isn’t mathing

Stupid design

Most stupid design. I tried to turn on carpool while my husband is driving, but it won’t let me because “vehicle is in motion”. How do you expect us to find a place to park on the freeway and turn on carpool?

New app is horrible

They took what used to be a simple process and introduced a ton on opportunities for things to go wrong. Want to leave your car in non-toll mode like before? Too bad, you have to remember every time. Forget to turn it on ahead of time? Out of luck, since you can’t interact once the car is moving (even if you aren’t the driver). Need to minimize the app to interact with your phone? It will threaten to charge you for your trip.

Response from developer

Thank you for your feedback. Commuters are prompted to verify their occupancy status at the beginning and end of their trips to help ensure a reliable, fair commute. In addition, requiring this verification while the vehicle is not in motion is also a safety precaution. Safety is a top priority with Peach Pass Verify.

Useless

What a joke! If your car is in motion you can't use the app. Hello, by the definition of a carpool I have more than one person in the car. Why can't one of my passengers turn it on for me? Don't use the Hands Free law as an excuse. Make it like other apps that ask if you are a passenger and if so let them use the app! Sounds more like a money grab than a safety feature.

Response from developer

Thank you for the feedback. We understand your point of view. Peach Pass Verify cannot determine who is verifying the occupancy status, so, as a safety precaution, this process can only occur while the vehicle is not in motion.

Awful app

Like others have said, this app is awful. The “Start Carpool” button can be green but then you click on it and it still says you can’t use the app when in motion. They have made carpooling a pain. I only use the peach pass lane when we travel and we always have 3 or more with us. The voice prompts are awful. If you accidentally touch the screen she yells at you. Like others, I wish I could give this zero stars.

Response from developer

Thank you for your feedback. Please ensure you are not on the I-85 before tapping 'Start Carpool.' You can toggle voice prompts OFF under 'Settings' in the app.

Awful app

Like others have said, this app is awful. The “Start Carpool” button can be green but then you click on it and it still says you can’t use the app when in motion. They have made carpooling a pain.

Challenging to use

Like others have said this app is challenging as you cannot turn on carpool verification mode while moving. While I understand the safety aspect, fundamentally if you are using carpool mode there should be PASSENGERS in the car that could use the app allowing the driver to remain hands free.

Good lord this app is stupid

I’ve read a bunch of these reviews all complaining that you can’t activate the app while in motion. I’ve read the developer’s defensive responses saying they can’t change it because GA is a hands-free state and you can’t “verify” who in the car is hitting a singular huge button… The simple fact that the point of the app means you have at least 2 passengers makes this argument stupid.

I get that you don’t want the legal liability if someone uses this app while driving, but for forks sake, just add a “I’m not the driver” checkbox like a normal app. This is peak “compliance over common sense” behavior.

Response from developer

Thank you for your feedback. Providing a "I'm not the driver" check box does not verify that the person selecting that option is, in fact, not the driver. That option will result in an additional safety issue that we do not want our commuters to worry about while in the express lanes.

Way too easy to mess it up as a user

I share many of the previously mentioned complaints with battery life and how sensitive the app is to movement for first verification.

I have an issue with the button to confirm at the end of a trip. If you accidentally press that you did not have 3+ people, you pay for the trip. This should require multiple confirmation presses, and the button to cancel HOV credit should be smaller and further from the button that gives you the credit (the orange one).

Response from developer

Thank you for your feedback. The developers have designed the app to use minimal power consumption while in a trip. For saving power, we recommend closing other apps in the background.

Like everyone says this is a pain

Georgia may be a hands free state, but only for the driver. Why can t my passenger set the carpool option?

Plans change and when I choose to use the lane I don’t always know in advance.

Also is privacy not a concern? Why do you need to know my precise location where I start and end. You can track my car in the express lane, why is that not enough.

Response from developer

Thank you for your feedback. The Peach Pass Verify app cannot determine who is beginning or ending the verification process out of an abundance of caution; those actions can only be completed while the vehicle is not in motion. Additionally, the app requires your precise location to ensure that commuters are using the I-85 Express Lanes and receive free toll benefits.
