The saddest day of my life (well, not the saddest, but really sad)

This was an app that kept me going for two years because it tapped into the most basic human tendency of concrete reward seeking and helped all of us capitalise on the simplest of our urges, “fooling” the subscribers into fitness and self care with a promise of a mere Starbucks cup. Well, i was fully aware that it was against my interests, immediately after the reward system was ended, I stopped exercising. It was even sadder because the program was eliminated weeks after I paid for a full membership. Weeks! I’m sad to see that this was not a sustainable model, but boy, I would pay double the membership fees if this incentive program can come back.

Great FREE App to kickstart working out

I have been using this app for almost 2 months and can honestly say it’s probably the most I’ve exercised in a very long time. I am on a 55 day streak meaning I’ve worked out 55 days in a row. I have never done that in my life. I haven’t lost weight but I’ve gone down a full pant size and my body definitely looks more toned. The app is simple and tells you how many reps of each exercise (the same exercises every day) to do each day, which is why I like it. I’m not huge into cardio and this is all easy strength training. The giant CON of this app is a premium subscription promises you gift cards and other rewards and it’s completely false. I am due 2 gift cards and my son is due 1 gift card and we received a message today that they are no longer offering gift cards. So we are just out those rewards now. I highly recommend the FREE App but DO NOT pay for premium.

Fraudulent app!

The premise of this app is that you earn coins for exercising, and then redeem those coins for gift cards or other advertised rewards. I did the exercises, earned the coins (800k), and redeemed them for the promised reward ($45 Aesop GC). Playfitt sent an email confirming my redemption, with a promise of the gift card coming via separate email in 2-3 days. Nope, nothing was ever delivered! I have waited for weeks, and have repeatedly messaged them — they don’t even reply to my messages. In the meantime they’ve been busy working on “app improvements”, including huge increases to the coin requirements for all rewards (bait and switch!), and pushing users to refer friends/contacts to help build the subscriber base while still not fulfilling promises to existing users (pyramid scheme!).
Completely disappointing experience! Proof that cute animation and exercise motivation can’t hide fraudulent business practices.

1 Star Is Too Many

I literally just downloaded this today and it is unusable. Every time I open the app one of two things happen. I either get a screen that says “You already finished a daily goal!” That I cannot swipe, scroll away, or close out of. So I have to exit the app, or delete it from my phone and reinstall it altogether (which I’ve done several times). Or it prompts me to either “get started” or sign in. It won’t accept my log in credentials so I have to start over every time I open the app, which is often because it keeps crashing. I’ve literally only managed to keep it open long enough to make my avatar, but that took several hours due to it continuously crashing causing me to have to start over again and again. I’ve never had such a bad experience with an app, and I was very much looking forward to adding an element of gaming to my workout.

Hi Devan, I'm so sorry this was your experience using Playfitt. The behavior of the app described is not normal and we'd love to assess your account for any potential bugs. Can you please reach out to us support@playfitthelp.zendesk.com so we can get things sorted?

Great concept, cringe delivery

The idea of the app is excellent and it has definitely led me to exercising more regularly. However, the overall experience is honestly kinda cringe and embarrassing. The main splash when entering the app has some person wearing the most ridiculous outfit that’s not even exercise related. The voice in the app to encourage you while you exercise sounds more like some woman trying to do ASMR than someone that’s encouraging you to work out. The little avatar you create does the lamest excitement jump I have ever seen (the one when you complete your daily squat goal - you gotta see it to know what I mean. Bleh!). List goes on. Again, the app is serving its purpose to get me to work out by gamifiying exercise and the chance of earning gift cards. Props on that. But I’m honestly not planning to renew just because of how cringe the experience is.

Hi Lil' Ebolio, thank you for your feedback. We're glad to hear Playfitt is helping you to become more active and we appreciate you giving us a chance. We're constantly improving, so we hope the next version of Playfitt will be right for you.

Frustrating

As others have reported the movement detections are not always accurate however for me the most frustrating part is the inaccuracy of detecting walking up stairs, especially when it’s the end of the day and I’ve walked up and down the stairs more than enough times to meet the daily goal and it’s not been recognized and I’m simply too tired to keep trying, therefore forfeiting those coins.

Also, make sure you’ve claimed your reward before canceling your subscription, even if it’s before the next billing period. I made the mistake of doing that thinking had the rest of the evening to claim my final coins to invest in my reward, nope, it’s gone. So aside from the benefit of physical activity it was a waste of time peppered with lots of frustration.

Love this!!!

UPDATE: I had a great experience having this glitch taken care of by Playfitt. The missing balance has since been applied to my account, so I’m changing my review from 4 to 5 stars! Love this app.

I’ve been using this app for almost 3 weeks and absolutely love it. I’ve been finishing all the tasks and never liked working out this much before. The only part that disappoints me is that occasionally the points won’t apply to my account, especially after hitting a steak. 8000 points was the most recent that somehow wasn’t applied. Would love to have that fixed. 5 stars otherwise!

Making me pay

When I first open the app there is one button and it says start. i clicked it and it had me choose which activity setting i wanted and then and me move for ten seconds. but then i got to choose a prize, i had three options for prizes and there is no way to exit out. all of the options make me get the premium version. Basically, it won’t let me use the app at all unless I buy premium. I will delete the app if I can’t figure out a way to not pay. The app says free so i don’t see why i should have to pay to simply use the app. I have tried exiting out and reopening it and everything but nothing will work.

Not free one bit

I keep seeing reviews saying this app can be used for free but I’ve had this app for 60 seconds and now I’m stuck on a page that’s forcing me to choose a premium subscription. There is no exit out of it and when I click the top x to exit the subscription description page, it takes me right back to the page that wants me to choose a premium subscription with no way back or out. If they are counting the “7 day free trial” as the “free” part, absolutely not.
These reviews are already discouraging enough about how poorly the app actually functions when paid for. This was a super quick download and delete for a useless app.

Unhappy with the update

Used to love the app - motivating and felt like you were going somewhere. There were times where the counting (especially for push-ups and squats) was off, but manageable. At least it still gave you those squats and push-ups. Now, it will remove those from your overall count to limit the points you receive. Additionally, now they are pushing the paid membership more and more. It says I have points to redeem, but can only do so with the premium membership. Seems like a money grab to me… I’ll probably wait it out until the next update to see if it gets any better, but am unhappy the way it is going right now. One final thing that I noticed with also using a Fitbit- the steps and stairs were completely different in the count. Just like before, not the biggest issue, but something I noticed!
Update - continued to use the platform - newest update I cannot seem to find where the “help” option is but lost everything that was invested already - each update is hard then seems to work out in the long run. We will see what they do to fix this discrepancy!

Hi there! I'm sorry you're not enjoying the app as much! The premium push notification shouldn't be happening that often. If you write to me in the app, then you'll have to make sure that PlayFitt is synced with Apple Health. For this step, first in your iPhone Settings: go to "Privacy" then scroll down and click on "Movement and Fitness" and make sure PlayFitt is on. Then, go into the App: go to the bottom right hand corner and click on your profile. Then click on the top far left corner on your settings and slide the widget. if you have any other questions or concerns, message me through the app and my team and I will be there to help you! :)

Disappointed

I was excited about this app. I have been using this app for more than 2 weeks. I love that I can just stop what I’m doing and do my exercises. I am very competitive and was driven by not only the incentives but also motivated by being on top of the leader board. Until last night, when I forgot to collect my “coins” for walking, stairs, and active breaks until after midnight. When I did, a pop up came and said “you lost your 18 day streak” pay $1.99 to get it back. Wow! I didn’t lose it because I didn’t exercise! As a matter of fact I had actually worked hard for steps, but your way of cutting me off totally unmotivated me. Negative reinforcement is not a good tool and so I think I will find an exercise app that knows how to motivate me in a positive manner. If a person has done the work, then at the end of the day your incentives should automatically be counted not shot down because the only thing you have done wrong was forget to press the button. Plus as a subscribed customer I shouldn’t have to pay to continue my streak. I’m really disappointed.

Hi there, It sounds like you experienced a bug! Please write to us in support if something like this happens... We will help. The team works very hard to motivate the Playfitt community with all types of rewards and incentive, but sometimes things bug out a bit. Just reach out to us! We wont bite.

Fun App to Get Rewarded for Exercise

I’ve had PlayFitt for over a year and have really enjoyed it. It doesn’t take much time at the end of the day to collect the rewards. The goal really isn’t to make money or pay for a weekly coffee, but the developers have done a really good job celebrating the small wins like completing walking, stairs, push ups, squats, and other exercise tasks to keep you motivated. They do incentivize but it’s not much. It does push me to do more in a day though so I do recommend trying it! I’ve had a great experience and will continue with PlayFitt for more steps!

Wow!! Thanks Jeffsco! :) I'm so glad you love the app! I like all your reasons! Nothin' to lose, indeed! Keep it up and you'll be getting your next Starbucks gift card from us in no time!

Good app

I have been using this app for a while now. I have earned numerous Starbucks gift cards from it. It can be slightly tedious to have to check in to get your points but it also is a good reminder to keep moving. I haven’t had any issues lately with rep counts (I keep my phone in my back waist band facing away from my body). I have recommended it to several people.

Disappointing…

Update: it’s even worse now. They take your coins if you don’t do squats every hour, and if you want to do them more than once per day, you have to pay for premium. Also, I have a job, & can’t do squats every hour! Add in the fact of the Canadian currency thing, & it’s just not worth it anymore. I really with I could give it zero stars. Beware: if you’re in the United States, your $10 gift card will only be worth a few cents more than $8, as it is considered international currency. It also won’t let me cash in the 5,000+ coins I currently have. Ridiculous!

Hi Five !

I needed an app that would push me at my own pace to get back into fitness. This is it!! I have lost 20 pounds by hitting my goals. There are some days that I have to leave my phone in my purse, but that doesn’t stop me from hitting the stairs without it being because I know I’m doing it! Its totally becoming my routine.
So far I have made enough to purchase two trees but don’t know if I get them or if they are just planted. Right now I have points racking up, my tree is full, and it won’t let me choose anything. I still give the challenge a 5.

Hi Vanessa, We're so happy to hear that we've helped you get back into moving! Nothing makes us happier than to hear comments like this. As for the trees, they do get planted, users like you have planted several thousand at this point! Thanks to you all we have a little playfitt forest growing out there in the world! You should have received a tree certificate from our support though. If you haven't please reach out to our support and we'll make sure you get them. Also, support will be able to help with your collect issue!

Used to be a 4 star app for me, now it’s a 1

So I had the typical issues of the app never accurately counting my workouts. This wasn’t a huge problem because I would just do my squats or push-ups, then do mini bicep curls with my phone to log the number into the system. But now the new version limits your activity which is the opposite of what a workout app can do. Now that it’s “more customized” if I’m busy a few days and don’t use the app it will limit me to 10 squats. I can still do more on my own, but that’s just a horrible “feature”. Not to mention some people really need the feedback loop of seeing the count go up. Y’all messed up a good thing ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Moving a little each day is a start…

PlayFitt has made me move more daily than I did before, and has helped me as I’m recovering from an injury that has taken almost 6 months at this point. The rewards are in Canadian dollars, which is unfortunate for those of us in the states, but equate to about one free Starbucks drink per redemption, so it’s ok—that drink tastes really good each time, knowing the hard work put into earning it. 😁

A little bit of active encouragement.

It’s a good app that rewards you for your daily movements. The prizes cost a lot of coins, but that’s not the important part for me. I like being able to track my movements throughout the day - which can be done on the health app - but also be rewarded for doing what I was going to do. It also helps me set weekly physical goals for my activity which motivates me to often do more than I would have.

True to Its Name

PlayFitt is fun and easy to use. All you need is your phone and a pocket or waistband to hold your phone. I enjoyed earning coins by completing simple exercises. It felt good to do the exercises and see how much I am earning towards my chosen reward. My friend who introduced the PlayFitt app to me roughly 50 days ago was very encouraging of my movement by gifting me 200 coins every few days. This app made exercising do-able. The rewards are useful. The reminders to move are motivating! Try PlayFitt today! You’ve got nothing to lose except extra weight!

Ouch

Worked fine until I purchase the app and now you get all kinds of goofy arrows one of the arrows I get tells me my Internet connection is not strong enough trust me my Internet connection is very strong you have a lot of bugs in your app and I think that you had to make this app free for everybody or refund our money great idea bad functionality by the way I work in IT maybe you should get yourself some quality assurance testers that know what they’re doing so they can recommend some bug fixes for your developers just a thought before you go take everybody’s money publishing an application it’s flaky
