My Promova journey

It has helped me thoroughly throughout my French journey and I definitely recommend the plus version as it has sailed to an easy 9 in my GCSEs and I am pleased to say that I took it for a level and only dropped one mark with one of the best a* in the country. Dot not download this app. I downloaded a trial and was charged £99.99. I’ve tried to email countless times with no response other than a generic one. Can’t believe they’ve charged basically £100 and can get away with it

Good but extremely limited

Pedagogically speaking, its hands above the other apps; it has the potential for real learning. Unfortunately, all it is capable of doing is throwing vocabulary words at you. Every lesson is 5 vocabulary words. If you get tired of vocabulary, you can open flash cards and review all the words you’ve forgotten because you never get to use them in any other context than vocabulary. You need to read, write, and speak in order to learn. Memorizing vocabulary words won’t get you there. $100 for vocabulary is a bit expensive. It has potential though, if they just build out the learning experience.

Like it a lot but….

I’ve only been using this for a few days, but I already really like how it’s phrases and sentences instead of just grammar. However, I’m getting a little frustrated because when doing the conversation type lessons, the input is very incorrect. It’s like it’s trying to take what I’m saying in Spanish and put it into English. I honestly need that more than anything so I might end up deleting this app.

Well put together

The setup is great. The lessons are designed to be repetitive in different ways, I can’t seem to figure out on how to take a course off my profile. Would have thought Russian would be on there. Lithuanian would top it off. Overall a great app.

Useful tool. Enjoy the learning style.

I am enjoying the learning style of this and I really appreciate the detail it goes into regarding grammar and language specifics. Enjoying learning Korean with this, along with other apps/tools.

Promising start but course is super short and worthless

I liked the program and decided to subscribe. Imagine my dissatisfaction when I found out the whole Japanese course was about one week worth of learning.
There is nothing beyond that. And advertised AI mode is not available by the way. So definitely false advertisement

Great if you like onboarding screens

This application is a master class in onboarding screens. Took about three minutes before I even saw anything related to language learning. There are better resources don't waste your time or money.

Free trial is a lie

I signed up for 7 day cancellable free trail but they’ve immediately charged me £59.99 for 6 month subscription. I’m trying to get money back. Only had the app for a hour!

Arabic Is Worthless

The Arabic lessons have tons of bugs in them. Functionality is a pain. Beyond that the grammar and vocabulary is a bit off. I have friends who speak Arabic and they looked and told me to not waste my time.

Skeptical

Not as advertised, at least not yet. All I’m doing is matching words to their meanings. There’s no conversation and no correction of my pronunciation.

Can’t understand me

When I speak in Spanish the app takes the words I say if there is an English equivalent and puts that instead. For example, I said “si” so they wrote “see”. There is no way to fix what you say in the chat when AI gets it wrong. Super frustrating.

Also why are we talking about soccer? Is it because of the World Cup? If I didn’t already know about soccer in English I would have been completely lost. Maybe start with food, shopping, watching tv, social media. Something everyone does on a regular basis not a niche topic.

Confused or False advertising?

I downloaded the app for Korean. It shows you the dialogue on the ad but when you do the modules, you don’t see the dialogue or text practices. I am somewhere past beginner level and just about intermediate, but the app is limited to what they say “intermediate” but I would say it’s pretty beginner level vocabulary and grammar. At least advertise what you offer just be fair please 😭.
