Pure is Right

I’m giving the ISONAS Pure Mobile app a 3-star rating. It’s a functional tool for access control, and when it works, it does what it’s supposed to—but from both a technical and a faith-based perspective, it leaves room for improvement.

As a Christian, I believe in doing things with excellence and integrity, especially when it involves safety and stewardship (Colossians 3:23). The concept of using a mobile app for secure, keyless access is great in theory—it’s efficient, convenient, and can support safety in churches, schools, or workplaces. When it works smoothly, it really does help reduce physical clutter and streamline entry.

However, in practice, Pure Mobile can be unreliable. The Bluetooth connection is often inconsistent, requiring multiple attempts to unlock doors. Sometimes it doesn’t recognize the reader at all. That unpredictability causes frustration, especially when you’re in a hurry or trying to focus on serving others well. If the app is meant to provide security and peace of mind, it should function with a higher level of reliability.

The interface is also very basic—almost too basic. It could benefit from clearer feedback, smarter automation, or more intuitive design. For something tied to secure building access, users should feel confident every time they open the app.

So, three stars. The purpose behind the app is good, and I can see its potential to support ministry, work, and everyday life. But it needs refinement. As we aim to honor God even in the tools we use, we need technology that supports—not distracts from—the peace, order, and reliability we strive for.

apple pay opens and interrupts

anytime i go to use the app, it fights with apple pay and my cards don't go away. they need to fix it

Sad software

I’m sure you’ve cut the devs loose already but how is there no way to copy your UID to the clipboard, phone it in.

1 for Apple Watch

Would love to see this app include Apple Watch support. I'm always wearing my Apple Watch so I wouldn't ever have to worry about being accidentally locked out because I forgot my phone. Please add this!

Works about 40% of the time

Works less than than half of the time. Desperately needs apple wallet support to replace this app.

Add Apple Watch Compatibility

Love this app it makes accessing my job so easy. I would love to see it become Apple watch compatible in the future so I don't have to carry my phone around though.

It works

It works most of the time but this app needs Apple Watch support.

Any plans for smart watches?

Works well but such a pain to have to get out and take your phone with you every time. It would be SO convenient if this was compatible with smart watches such as Apple Watch! Please make it happen!

How about an Apple Watch Update?

This app was last updated 3 years ago. Could be more refined.

It works. Sometimes the app needs to be closed and re-opened again but never been completely stuck not working.

APPLE WATCH

This app does what is is supposed to do but we need an Apple Watch app..

Buggy and could use a Apple Watch app

Often the app is buggy and fails to verify until multiple tries. Would really like to see some stability improvements as well an Apple Watch/wearable app.

It’s alright

Does what it’s supposed it, I wish the UI was a bit nicer or having the ability to add it to the Apple wallet so it’s more convenient to use

Good product. Apple Watch app would put it over the top!

I love that I don’t need a card. Too many things to carry around so combining the access key with my phone is great. An Apple Watch app would make the product even better and I always have the watch on. I’m sure many others tend to leave the phone from time to time. Hope to see Apple Watch supported in the near future!

Took away the only function I used

I’ve been using this app for over a year for one function only: set a time to BEGIN a sound in 20 minutes. Now they force an upgrade on me that took away this function. The only way to do this now is to set it for a specific time (rather than “20 minutes from now”). No point in my using this anymore. Nothing worse than developers who make apps LESS FUNCTIONAL by their upgrades.

Please make Apple Watch app

I like this app, no complaints. But it does take a second to open phone, open app, then badge in. If there was an Apple Watch version of this it would be much easier. I hope you make the watch app!!

Thanks!

Low-quality application

Don’t take this too personally, but it’s clear that minimal effort was put into this application. Something like this could be built in roughly 8 hours or less (including the Bluetooth subscription). When retrieving the device ID, (which you would need in order to register the phone with the system), it just shows an alert popup that you can’t copy and paste the ID from.

An alert is the cheapest UI tool you can use in iOS. There’s even improper capitalization on the “close” dialogue, which makes it seem like minimal tests were performed with the app. The lack of an Apple Watch extension presents a lack of forethought toward the user experience. You can do better.

Lacking apple watch version

Really, why wouldn't you make people's live easier and release an apple watch version of the app

Watch version?

Is an Apple Watch version on the roadmap? I tend to leave my phone on my desk and would love to be able to use my watch instead.

Wish there was one more feature

I really think this app is simple and it it works great. The only thing I wish that could be added was an app for the watch. It’s not the end of the world or anything, but if I could access the app from my watch without having to pull my phone out would be even faster.

Awesome way to gain access to office

If you have the Isonas RC access control system installed in your office, this a great way to gain access. No more need for fobs, keys, or cards. Load the app, tap, and you’re in. Just make sure you have Bluetooth turned on.

The app requires Bluetooth to function. If Bluetooth is not turned on, the app shows “Inactive”, a rather confusing and not-too-intuitive message; I have to explain this to each new user at least 5 times, usually after they complain that the Isonas system is broken. It’s not. The system has never failed me. The apps HID is lacking this simplification.

This is the only reason I give it 4/5. If Isonas changed the message to say “Please turn on Bluetooth”, or something more helpful, it’d be 5/5 the whole way.

Isonas, please, please, please clear this up and save me the constant “The app is broken, it doesn’t work...”
