At least customer service is helpful
Customer service is excellent at replying to issues and did ultimately fix things. I had to go back and forth for a few days providing proof that my purchase was not listed in the exclusions just to get my 3%. As well as providing proof that I should get the 3% and not the lower 1% reward it had changed to since the purchase. I don’t want to go through that anymore and deleted after 5 years using Rakuten.

Bonuses disappear — account blocked
Cash Back and bonuses initially appeared in my account and then disappeared. I contacted customer support trying to resolve the issue, and in the end my account was blocked. I received neither my Cash Back nor my bonuses. Very disappointing experience. Draw your own conclusions.
Good way to earn points
Like being able to get done extra points with my purchases. I just wish they had more places in the database and higher rewards besides the Black Friday sales. Would also like the payouts to be quicker and fewer “exclusions”
Not Impressed
If anyone has dealt w/CapitalOne Shopping they know this is the same dog with different flees. Rakuten offers a $50 referral bonus and then once you make a purchase using the app and associated offer, they mark the purchase “ineligible”. This is classic “Bait & Switch”. Used the app a few times and will be deleting. Not worth the hassle.

It’s difficult to navigate, and bonus are not always applied - despite following the instructions.
I probably would not use this over other sites. I don’t like that you have to wait for the payment cycle and earn over a certain threshold to cash out.

Unsatisfied
Rakuten used to be a wonderful way to earn cash back, now most things are listed as ineligible or pending for months just to see it is ineligible. Things are in the “pending” status for months too. I used to use Rakuten a lot, now it isn’t worth it!!!!

Missing Cash Back
I shopped over Christmas many times using the app and have hardly received anything 2 months later. Reliability has dropped since Rakuten takeover. I preferred ebates.ca. Disappointing. Hopefully they will get their act together or I’ll be going to Honey or elsewhere.
Update: August 2026. Gave them another try over the past few years. Points again not received especially for hotel bookings. When I make A missing points inquiry the chance of success is even worse. False advertising if not followed through. I’m done with them.

It isn’t perfect but it works. It takes time. For example, I invited my daughter and she signed up and followed the order process. I got my reward but she still hasn’t. They said it takes time but it’s been two months. It’s not fair but someone’s got to look into this because it’s a financial issue. They took the money but hasn’t yet given back what is owed.

Can’t use when traveling
I pretty much only use Rakuten to book tours while traveling. But! Rakuten won’t let you use the app while traveling outside the USA. So… I can’t use Rakuten unless I prebook my tours before leaving home. As most of my trips are weeks or months long, that would mean a heck of a lot of pre-planning. It’s simply not worth it for a few points.
Being directed to the French or German sites doesn’t help.

What’s going on?
Was great before, worked perfectly until today. Kept prompting to update app but when going into the App Store there are no updates available also when each time logging into Sam’s Club, through Rakuten, almost half of what I had already added to my cart had disappeared so I had to try and remember everything that was missing and re-added my missing items. Extremely frustrating
