It used to be better
I’ve loved using this app for camping and found the reviews section really helpful. I’ve just updated the app (November 2025), and unless I’m blind, I honestly can see where I can open up and read reviews. There are a couple reviews that you can see on the main page of a particular camp site, but it would be more useful if I could see how recent those reviews were, and a campsite that has 70+ reviews and I can only see 3 or 4 - really not useful. Really regretting upgrading it now

Insufficient filters
Lacks the ability to filter camp sites with multiple filters. E.g. Dogs Allowed AND free AND non-self contained. You can only search one of these at a time.

We just returned from three weeks traveling the South Island in a rented camper van. This app was beyond helpful for finding all the things that you need to find when you’re in an area you don’t know. We were mainly Freedom camping and occasional parks. Helpful with both of these + dump stations., etc.,etc. It’s the only one you need!!

Excellent App
Everything you need to know for your NZ trip can be found in the Rankers app. Its easy to use and you can download the maps to use offline. There are real people behind the app as well. I preferred it to the rival Campermate. If you search on Campermate it bombards you with emails about your enquiry. Rankers app doesn’t do that so it is better because you can search and enquire without being hassled.
