I really dislike the all the proposed recipes just call for you to buy their own rubs and sauces. Making those is also part of BBQ and I wish Recteq respected that.
Had to try multiple times to get it to work
Just fired up the grill for burn in. Setting up the app and I can’t even login. Heck, I had issues just getting it to accept my email and code-had to reset the password before I had a chance to sign in for the first time and now it’s saying bad url. Having to delete an app and reinstall it to get it to work giving me bad vibes. I’ll update after I’ve used it for awhile on cooks and seeing that it works accurately

Better but limited
Haven’t used the app in a while. So when trying to turn my grill on to preheat, it won’t allow it until I turn it on manually. What’s the point of the app….
Intrusive app.
This app requires you to share your location your network and who know what other information it pulls.
If I was aware of this prior to purchasing my smoker I would have went with a different brand. There is no apparent way to use the app via Bluetooth only.

Okay app, Horrible Hardware
The app is okay, it amazing but does the job. Not having the ability to start the grill remotely is annoying. I can do it with my oven and most other devices. The temp chart is also a bit wonky.
Biggest complaint is the hardware. Spend over $1,000 on a smoker and they use the absolute cheapest, ancient WiFi card possible.
I’ve got a pretty serious home network and it took a ton of tinkering to make the initial connection because the grill is incapable of communicating with any modern wireless technology. At all.
I essentially had to flip my entire home network to a Stone Age network just to make initial connection, at which point t I was able to convert everything back.
I also at one point tried to bypass my network and just use the included Xfinity router, except that’s impossible because it’s locked down and the settings you need to change can’t be altered.
So for most people living in this decade, they probably won’t even be able to connect the grill to WiFi at all.

Live Activity? Watch App+Widget?
Great app! Just needs a live activity so I don’t need to open my phone and a watch app+widget for the same reason!
Exceptional Smokers But Logging in Sucks.
Every time I go to log in it just keeps looping me around and around. Come on make it easy already!
Terrible App, nice grill
The app used to be great. Temp chart doesn’t work, app is slow, doesn’t recognize the grill is even turned on until you select it. No alerts anymore. App does not reflect all the praise received by the brand over the years.
Slide Bugs
The latest update has a bug where all the temp sliders move at once. You can’t set any of the them separately. Vibe coded the latest update? Do better devs!
Awesome pellet smoker
One of the best apps I have used for a pellet smoker. It connected easily to wifi, dials in your cooking temp to the exact degree you want, has lots of great, chef driven recipes. I highly recommend the app and the grills. Thanks guys, Shout out to Jody, and Chef John!
Great but…
Great app for the most part. Lately though I’ve had issues not receiving notifications in a timely manner. I just slightly over cooked some NY Strips on the reverse sear because of it! My wife has drawn up divorce papers.
Another update
Well, just updated and had to re-enroll my grill again… can’t wait for the next time when I go through the whole process again waiting for my rub to set.
Former Traeger owner
Don’t look back. Don’t even pretend your Traeger is what you wanted. Save the extra money and go Recteq. It would take 10,000 words to tell you my opinion but I finally got my Recteq and just cooked my first filets at 550 degrees that was actually 550 degrees according to my “Meater”. Best quality. Best temperature hold I have ever seen.

Easy to use, needs a little work
It does what it needs to do, but it can be a little buggy (adjusting a probe target temp with the slider has sometimes moved the grill temp setting). Also, monitoring the current cook could be easier - you have to go to 30-day history, then slide the bottom time frame to select current cook, and it has to be refreshed manually. I’d suggest a separate, dedicated button for the current cook that dynamically updates its view.

App keeps alerting me
App alerts me that my food is at or above temp every couple of days even though my grill isn’t on. Please fix it!!!
Why Even Have an App
The app is horrible, doesn’t connect to grill and when it does, it’s not even listed! How do you have an app and only have 6 grills. I just bought this grill a few months ago RT-1200BB and you don’t have it at all in the app! Grill is great App is completely useless and now I have a grill with a constant blinking red light! DO BETTER!!!
Update -changed out WiFi to mesh wireless system and still does not connect! This is the worst app and wifi device period!

Frustrating
So I got the app a few years ago and so enjoyed it until I had to replace my modem… now it will not reconnect… I’ve tried 2.4 and it just will not connect.. I wish they would make a fix so that it just auto connects with 5.0 since most everything is advanced and it needs to keep up..
I know they’ve disconnected the auto turn on to pre heat which I miss but understand why. I’ve called Recteq and their answer was call your internet provider.. guess the app just isn’t gonna work going forward..
the smoker is fantastic, I love it but running in and out to check temps is a real hassle.

App sucks
I LOVE my grill! Your app is garbage. I use my grill every week. The app used to work great. Recently i rarely ever get notifications. So just now when my cook went way over temp I had no clue. It used to tell me when the grill is preheated…not anymore. But hey, sometimes it works..
Recent “feature” touted as safety is bullsnot
Please bring back the option to turn on the grill remotely, I don’t want to to have to use a third party app with the grill…
