Lose configuration and connection to system permanently after auto update
Reiri for Home app stuck in startup screen or showed need QR code from controller. According to local vendor rep. this might’ve been caused by software or firmware updates. This is totally unacceptable. The reason to install a remote control system is to be able to monitor and control the system remotely when I am away. Especially for extended period of time.
I installed Daikin HVAC with remote control system in summer of 2022. It took serval trips for local vendor technicians to configure remote control part of the system. Apparently, the technicians did not realize renumbering device numbers required swapping control boards if the device type were not the same. When I finally was able to use basic control functions against correct devices. My Reiri for Home app suddenly stuck in startup screen. After few phone reboots the furthest the app could go was to display a screen about requiring to scan a QR code generated by the controller. According to local vendor representative’s explanation, this app seem to lost configuration of its target controller due to auto software/ firmware update. The only way to reestablish connection, I was told, someone needs to be physically at the system location to log in to the controller to generate a QR code.
I have 2 Lenox HVAC systems in another building. Lenox system’s remote control software is much more mature and functionally rich. I might occasionally lose contact with one of the systems. But the disconnection was alway temporary and recovery required no human intervention.
