Flight test ground portion

About
Rehearse the oral ground portion of the Canadian PPL and CPL flight test. 281 examiner-style questions, answered out loud and marked 4, 3, 2 or 1 the way you will be marked on the day. Reviewed by a Class 3 flight instructor.
The ground portion happens before you ever walk out to the aeroplane, and a single ground item marked 1 ends the flight test on the spot — ground items don't qualify for a partial re-test. Ride Ready is for the weeks leading up to that table.
HOW IT WORKS
The examiner's question comes up. Answer it out loud, the way you will on the day.
Reveal what the examiner is listening for: the model answer, the references, and the angle examiners take.
Mark yourself honestly on the flight test guide's scale — 4 thorough, 3 adequate, 2 gaps, 1 couldn't.
Anything you mark 1 or 2 comes back first, and a spacing schedule brings the rest round before you forget it.
STUDY OR MOCK ORAL
Study mode shows the answer first. Mock oral makes you commit to a mark before the answer appears, runs in the examiner's order from 2A to 23A, and covers every subject you choose.
WHAT'S COVERED
2A — documents and airworthiness
2B — aeroplane performance
2C — weight and balance
23A — pre-flight planning
Plus aircraft systems, the walkaround, emergencies and boxed memory items, air law, human factors, test-day admission and commercial operations for the CPL.
YOUR AEROPLANE'S NUMBERS
Speeds, weights and limits are substituted into every question for the aeroplane you fly — Cessna 152, 172P, 172R and 172S, Piper Warrior II/III, Diamond DA20-C1 and DA40 presets, each checked against its handbook, or your own aeroplane's figures.
FOR YOU AND YOUR INSTRUCTOR
A session report with item-by-item marks, whether you would go on to the aeroplane, and exactly what to take back to your instructor — shareable as plain text
Progress by subject, and a readiness checklist of what to bring and what stops a test
Vref and medical-validity calculators
Questions read aloud, so you can practise with your eyes on the handbook
CHECKED AGAINST THE SOURCES
Every question, note and checklist item has been checked against the current flight test guides (TP 13723E and TP 13462E), the Canadian Aviation Regulations consolidated to September 2026, the TC AIM 2026-2 and TC's Standards.
IPHONE, IPAD AND MAC
The same app on each device: two columns on iPad and Mac, and full keyboard control on a Mac or an iPad keyboard (Space shows the answer, 1–4 mark). Your progress can sync between your devices through your own iCloud account — optional, private, and never seen by anyone else. Studying works entirely offline, with no account and nothing collected by the developer.
BUILT FROM THE PUBLISHED SOURCES
The flight test guides, the Canadian Aviation Regulations, the Pilot's Operating Handbooks, and ground portions as they are actually run.
Independent work. Not affiliated with, endorsed by, or a publication of Transport Canada, and not connected to any flight training unit. A study aid — verify anything you'll be marked on against the current CARs, the flight test guide and your own aircraft's handbook.

What's New in Ride Ready
1.8
November 5, 2026
A calmer, more polished Ride Ready. Mock oral now shows a pace ring so you can keep each answer inside 90 seconds. Study questions show a simple shape for an oral answer: the rule, this flight, the decision. Aircraft pages have a drawing of the aeroplane; the Medical validity and Vref pages now match the rest of the app. Home is tidier: the examiner tips fold away until you want them. The Progress tab shows a quiet dot when reviews are due, instead of a large number. Your progress and settings carry over untouched.
