What's New in Roomie Universal Remote X

10.5.0

September 1, 2026

CONTROL YOUR HOME FROM CLAUDE Roomie can now be a local MCP server on your network — connect Claude or any MCP client and ask to start activities, adjust volume, control lights and thermostats, or check what's playing. Claude can even verify commands landed by reading recent actions and device health. Enable with an access key you create in Settings → MCP Access. PROJECTOR AUTHENTICATION & VALERION JVC and Epson projectors now accept the network password you set on the projector, using each projector's own secure handshake — existing projectors migrate automatically. New: Valerion VisionMaster support over AWOL Link, covering power, inputs, volume, and the lens and picture menus including picture modes, laser level, and tone mapping. The device panel also shows the signal Barco and Valerion projectors are receiving: resolution, aspect ratio, bit depth, HDR, and color space. HISTORY Every action in your home is recorded with its origin — a tap, the Watch, Alexa, an automation — alongside security, settings, and configuration trails, a searchable network timeline, and an automations view showing recent, missed, and upcoming runs. LG TV PAIRING RESTORED Recent LG firmware broke pairing for third-party remotes. Roomie re-registers and recovers affected TVs automatically. GOOGLE TV & GOOGLE CAST Google TV gains volume and mute feedback, absolute volume, and discrete power on and off, and Google Cast devices report Now Playing with artwork, transport and seek control, live progress, and receiver volume. DEVICE SUPPORT StormAudio ISP and Trinnov processors with live volume and named inputs and presets. Receivers report what's actually playing — stream type, channel format, sample rate, upmixer. Honeywell Home (Resideo) replaces the retired Total Connect Comfort service. Samsung TV app launching returns via SmartThings. Sonos gains a group picker in Now Playing. WEATHER & AIR QUALITY A WeatherFlow Tempest station on your network feeds live wind and rainfall, and air quality is more accurate with EPA humidity correction and smart PurpleAir source selection — combining Tempest, PurpleAir, and Apple Weather into a master view of local weather. RELIABILITY Dozens of fixes: Nest setpoints no longer revert, automations honor delays and Stop modes, Alexa can turn off any activity again, and camera windows keep their streams and placement. ALSO INCLUDED FROM 10.4 • Apple Watch app — rebuilt from the ground up, with voice control. • Proximity Switching with Roomie Beacons. • Home Assistant cameras and thermostats. • Smarter Remote Access and modernized camera discovery. • Add a Smart TV for Free — one network TV, no subscription.

User reviews

Uninstalled and reinstalled several times, but original configuration is not brought over

I get an empty home screen that’s completely useless. I don’t see the macros from I the original Roomie Remote. It says I’m supposed to unsubscribe from my perpetual license, but I would rather see settings come over first before I do so. So far I’m still using the old one and I don’t understand what I’m supposed to be doing here. Preview images look great in the App Store, but it doesn’t look remotely like that. Just empty screens.

Response from developer

On first install, the configuration from Roomie 9 is automatically migrated. However, in case of any issues, you can always re-migrate at any time by restoring a Roomie 9 backup into Roomie X. Please do not hesitate to contact support using the button in the app if you have questions like this.

Want to use it

1 star would be unfair because I haven’t been able to use it. But that’s the issue, it says 1 Smart TV can be set up for free, right? Not sure what constitutes as a Smart TV on the app, but I tried my Samsung TV which directed me to purchasing a subscription. Wasn’t sure what to make of that so I then tried Android TV for my Google Streamer and was hit with the same notification, so I’m not really sure how to proceed.

Response from developer

This issue is resolved in today's release! Our apologies for the brief issue with that new feature.

Not honoring perpetual subs

I bought the original roomie remote with a perpetual subscription and here they go and release a new version and poof! No longer honored. Super scummy.

Response from developer

This is a different app. The app you're referring to remains available to you in your App Store purchase history.

Lifetime licence promise broken

I bought a lifetime license, and suddenly I am asked to pay for a new license for this version X, which doesn’t even offer the option of paying for a new “lifetime” license, adding insult to injury. Poor commercial practice.

No support half baked

Long time user of the product. But version 10 is complete trash. No support, not even an email, just a half baked support page. Says it support all sorts of stuff but good luck getting it to work. Example smart things connects but tells you to hit button to get code…..but no button. This is the random weirdness in the new version.

Please contact support to resolve your SmartThings concern. We have many users working well with SmartThings now and it should be very straightforward to help you get that work.
