App is possessed
It all started today, 2 days after I reinstalled the app. I was watching an episode of RWBY when I switched to Discord to message a friend. When I switched back to the app, the video wasn't up but the audio was playing. I restarted the app, as one does when this glitch happens on other apps. BUT, ever since then, whenever i play an episode, it plays the audio of 2 ads, the video of one ad, and the progress bar for the episode dances around between beginning and end. Eventually the progress bar stops dancing and lands on a random timestamp near the end of the episode, but it just plays the episode audio in the background while ads play over it. On loop. Eternally. — Also the "continue watching" tab only shows random episodes I finished long ago, and there are no skip forward/back buttons. Heck, not even a free pop-out player. I was willing to live with that and the several unskippable 30 second ads if the app didn't break tho. — Edit: I fixed the ads by pressing pause when the background audio was the episode, and letting the ad in view finish first (so it wouldn't count the glitched progress bar passing over ad landmarks several times a second). But the fact it happened isn't acceptable. — I also found out iPad app changes which ear plays when my iPad moves, even tho follow iPad and spatial audio are disabled. (It doesn't even play in the ear my iPad's closer to.) No app has ever done that, so that makes this app a whole new kinda bad.

This app is painful to use
This feels like a small company’s first try and not a product developed by a company that hosts its own multi day convention every year. I am baffled at the clear lack of care put into one of the most accessible ways for people to access your content on your platform. Not everyone has a pc, you know? The amount of times the app shuts down on me is somehow eclipsed by the amount of times i try to start a video and only get sound with a black screen. (at which point i have to try 3 more times or close and restart the app until one of those two methods does something.) I will often end up just watching your content on you tube because at least THEIR app works on a consistent basis. I also don’t understand why you’ve never found a way to get your app to work decently on iPads? Like, how are you looking at the (lack of) functionality in your app and thinking, “excellent. THIS is a product the people who still financially support us despite the multiple easily googled examples of our dodgy at best work practices DESERVE.” I’m sure there are people doing their best with what they’ve got and i do not fault any individual simply surviving in the machine. I just wonder why a parent company refuses to even attempt to meet the responsibilities of a parent and take care of their struggling child properly.

Needs a fix
I don’t know where else to put this but I’m hoping they check their reviews. On both the app and the website so maybe it’s a different problem, after I watch a video and I haven’t finished it and I leave the app, when I come back it doesn’t have the video in progress that I just watched, it has the one before that. Or a few before that. It’s getting really annoying that any time I’m watching a new video from achievement hunter or Minecraft survive block island season two, that I have to screenshot a picture of where I was in the video because I have to manually scroll back the next time I log back on or open the app. Really hope someone sees this.

New updates don’t even work well
Newest update was supposed to fix the background play and the downloaded videos features but both are now broken in different ways.
Videos now don’t consistently resume playing from where I left off. They start off with a black screen but audio playing. The downloads don’t actually work offline. Background play doesn’t keep your place in the video when you exit out. No button for full screen, have to unlock orientation and use it that way. No more swipe scrubbing 15 sec thru videos. Have to PIP it and then hit the 15sec buttons on the screen. Not too fast though cause then the PIP changes sizes and then you’re dealing with that.
All in all the new version needs more work and really should just revert to the old app and work on this new version some more. No polishing or QA was done on it before release.

Great company, terrible app
Had the app for about 10 years. Had the same problems in it for about 10 years as well. I think it gets updated like once a year. And not in any significant way. Video and audio constantly desync. Background play is inconsistent at best. And the app tanks in performance if you use it on data instead of wifi. Also likes to randomly sign you out.
Edit: the just updated the app for the first time in years and now there are new problems. Audio plays without video and there's no convenient way to rewind or fast forward unless you use the mini player. And the app no longer remembers any of your watch history.
