App is possessed
It all started today, 2 days after I reinstalled the app. I was watching an episode of RWBY when I switched to Discord to message a friend. When I switched back to the app, the video wasn't up but the audio was playing. I restarted the app, as one does when this glitch happens on other apps. BUT, ever since then, whenever i play an episode, it plays the audio of 2 ads, the video of one ad, and the progress bar for the episode dances around between beginning and end. Eventually the progress bar stops dancing and lands on a random timestamp near the end of the episode, but it just plays the episode audio in the background while ads play over it. On loop. Eternally. — Also the "continue watching" tab only shows random episodes I finished long ago, and there are no skip forward/back buttons. Heck, not even a free pop-out player. I was willing to live with that and the several unskippable 30 second ads if the app didn't break tho. — Edit: I fixed the ads by pressing pause when the background audio was the episode, and letting the ad in view finish first (so it wouldn't count the glitched progress bar passing over ad landmarks several times a second). But the fact it happened isn't acceptable. — I also found out iPad app changes which ear plays when my iPad moves, even tho follow iPad and spatial audio are disabled. (It doesn't even play in the ear my iPad's closer to.) No app has ever done that, so that makes this app a whole new kinda bad.

This app is painful to use
This feels like a small company’s first try and not a product developed by a company that hosts its own multi day convention every year. I am baffled at the clear lack of care put into one of the most accessible ways for people to access your content on your platform. Not everyone has a pc, you know? The amount of times the app shuts down on me is somehow eclipsed by the amount of times i try to start a video and only get sound with a black screen. (at which point i have to try 3 more times or close and restart the app until one of those two methods does something.) I will often end up just watching your content on you tube because at least THEIR app works on a consistent basis. I also don’t understand why you’ve never found a way to get your app to work decently on iPads? Like, how are you looking at the (lack of) functionality in your app and thinking, “excellent. THIS is a product the people who still financially support us despite the multiple easily googled examples of our dodgy at best work practices DESERVE.” I’m sure there are people doing their best with what they’ve got and i do not fault any individual simply surviving in the machine. I just wonder why a parent company refuses to even attempt to meet the responsibilities of a parent and take care of their struggling child properly.

Needs a fix
I don’t know where else to put this but I’m hoping they check their reviews. On both the app and the website so maybe it’s a different problem, after I watch a video and I haven’t finished it and I leave the app, when I come back it doesn’t have the video in progress that I just watched, it has the one before that. Or a few before that. It’s getting really annoying that any time I’m watching a new video from achievement hunter or Minecraft survive block island season two, that I have to screenshot a picture of where I was in the video because I have to manually scroll back the next time I log back on or open the app. Really hope someone sees this.

New updates don’t even work well
Newest update was supposed to fix the background play and the downloaded videos features but both are now broken in different ways.
Videos now don’t consistently resume playing from where I left off. They start off with a black screen but audio playing. The downloads don’t actually work offline. Background play doesn’t keep your place in the video when you exit out. No button for full screen, have to unlock orientation and use it that way. No more swipe scrubbing 15 sec thru videos. Have to PIP it and then hit the 15sec buttons on the screen. Not too fast though cause then the PIP changes sizes and then you’re dealing with that.
All in all the new version needs more work and really should just revert to the old app and work on this new version some more. No polishing or QA was done on it before release.

Great company, terrible app
Had the app for about 10 years. Had the same problems in it for about 10 years as well. I think it gets updated like once a year. And not in any significant way. Video and audio constantly desync. Background play is inconsistent at best. And the app tanks in performance if you use it on data instead of wifi. Also likes to randomly sign you out.
Edit: the just updated the app for the first time in years and now there are new problems. Audio plays without video and there's no convenient way to rewind or fast forward unless you use the mini player. And the app no longer remembers any of your watch history.

Not entirely disappointed with new update
I’m just REALLY unhappy with the removal of the simple rewind/fast forward feature. Often times, I’m rewinding to relive a joke or moment or because I misheard something. Before, it was a simple swipe or two in my needed direction. Now, I’ve got to pause the video, tap the screen to bring up controls, figure out how far back I need to go to replay it (or skip spoilers/ secrets/ etc) then wait for it to load to see if I was correct and can continue playing. What was before a ~1 minute process now takes me ~3 minutes because it’s impossible to gauge length distance when every video varies so much. Extremely dissatisfied FIRST member

Is it just me or does this app buffer way too much?
I have decent WiFi and my cell service is good so why does every video have to buffer dozens of times for minutes at a time? Podcasts are impossible to listen too when every 10 seconds the convo has to buffer. Never had a problem when I first got the app back in 2020 only in the last few months it has been like this. Gonna have to cancel my First membership because it’s just a waste I can’t watch or listen to anything without buffers

Does not work with any Chromecast
I love the app and Im a first member and I enjoy watching on my smart TV in the living room but I don’t have one in the bedroom and when I’m trying to relax and stream it there, I just simply can not and it’s very inconvenient. Chromecast is a very nice and cheap way to stream your favorite apps without needing a smart TV and having to set up an hdmi cord to your laptop and setting it up is a lot of extra hoops to jump through to watch my favorite gaming crews. I really hope RT makes it comparable again or something.

So many functions that don’t work
There is a download tab but no way to download videos, the apple background play and pause buttons don’t work still. Only recently did the comment boxes get fixed. Background play all together only works some of the time. And will take multiple tries of loading a video for it to play in the background it would be nice it just the download thing got fixed I spend days away from cell signal and this feature which is already in the apps just need to add a button the videos. Would be great

This app is great!
I love this app; it’s great to watch Rooster Teeth videos through my phone. I just have two wishes. One, I wish I could pop-out the videos to watch them while I play games or something in another app. Two, closed captioning. I know CC is a big ask, but it would really help accessibility for deaf and hard-of-hearing folks, as well as those with neurodivergencies. Even if I can clearly hear and understand what’s being said in a video, I still like having CC to make it easier to follow along.

It’s good but needs improvement
The app work, been watching videos for a year now on mobile as my computer died, normally I put something on in the background and close the screen but now background audio stopped working.
darkmode on the phone doesn’t allow you to see what you’re trying in the comments as it doesn’t change the test from black to white (light mode is garbage, I don’t know why you would force someone to use light mode to comment)
And occasionally during RTTV the app will just auto close out.
It needs work bad and not a update every 2 years like it seems to get.
New update, you like VPN’s? Do you use the one they promote on their channels all the time? Well the sites host will now deny you the use of it now, and it’s also the app is effected. It’s FUBAR.

Very different experience across devices
The iPhone version is good, 4 stars.
The iPad version is ok, it has some bugs like changing to the landscape (possibly old phone layout) after interacting with some menus or playing videos. 3 stars.
The Apple TV version is a disaster. It’s missing a ton of features, my playlists and saved series being my biggest annoyance and it has several performances issues. It will randomly forget I’m logged into First and I have to either reboot the app or make it refresh the data, although the accounts tab says I have the membership. 2 stars, I may actually prefer the old version.

Love the app so much, but there’s one issue
I have been using this app for probably a few years now and I love it. I’m a long time First Member and I love all the perks and convenience of the app.
The one issue I have is now whenever I try to comment on a video, there is a black bar covering the text box that doesn’t let you see what you’ve typed until you submit it. It’s kinda annoying since you have no idea if you made a mistake until the comment is posted and then you have to delete the comment and try all over again. If that got fixed than I’d give this app 5 stars no question!

Long lasting problems in a modern looking app
I was told commenting on the app has a major bug due to Apple’s iOS dark mode. I can’t see what I am typing when I commenting. And I am disappointed to not see the app with support for tablets. I mainly watch everything on my iPad Pro. And it would be a killer feature to have this in picture in picture and watch all day Let’s Play content. Other than that this is good to have on the smartphone.

Solid app. Weird organization.
I prefer the app to the website on mobile. It’s a great home for all first content. It works great as a first user. If you don’t have first, it’s unfriendly. Other than that it’s just kinda weirdly laid out on the whole. The main channel page is a useful timeline of videos for regular watchers and works great if you keep up with content. If you are looking for a specific series the order of the series page changes based on what show is out making it an ever changing mush with old shows haphazardly pushed to the bottom. They also choose to put trailers in the same playlist as shows but not the post shows so if you want to binge watch old shows and first content it is a nightmare to go back and forth.

Used to be good, it’s “meh” at best now
This app used to be “adequate” but it’s taken a quality dive recently. First, it is logging me out randomly MUCH more frequently now. This wouldn’t be so bad but it all stopped interfacing with password managers too. This may have been when they introduced signing on with google, but I can’t be sure. Because I understand network security I have a STRONG password so now I have to go into LastPass, look up my password, copy it to the clipboard, come back into the RT app, and paste it. I just wanted to watch funny internet videos and your app made it into this whole big thing.
Second, how is there still no iPad version of the app. It has been out for how long, this is absurd!!! Yes, I can use the iPhone version on my iPad and zoom it to fill the screen, but it looks terrible.
Third, and this really chafes me because it used to work. I cannot play and pause using my AirPods or my Apple Watch. When you are putting out more and more audio only podcasts (which I do enjoy) that are great to listen to when working out or cooking, the fact that I cannot quickly pause AND resume without touching my phone screen when I have other, better options is completely inexcusable.

Needs better organization
I think the app is generally laid out well. They very clearly put a thought into how they put things together, however, I feel like they overlooked the organization of some of their content on the app. When you go to look at Let’s Play content, for example, rather than being able to filter by the game they play or what not, you can only filter by year. That means if I want to watch a Minecraft let’s play, I have to scroll through tons of other videos before I can even find one. Sure, I could just search Minecraft, but not being able to filter by games the way they have everything else set up is kind of annoying. I would also love if they added a feature, maybe at least to first members, where we can have a video continue to play picture in picture mode while we, for example, look for another video to watch. Sometimes I would like to search for another video while a video is playing and it’s kind of annoying to have to exit out or preplan what I want to watch. I get that these are nitpicks, but it would really elevate the experience from a meh experience to an amazing one. I love the content and will continue to support, but it’s sad to see that the best place to enjoy their content is on another platform where I can’t support them as a first member.

I Think Im In Love 😂
When I was about 10 or 11 years old, my brother showed me RWBY and i absolutely fell in love with it. I tried to find everyone and anyone who knew about it. I stopped watching episodes after the first season because i didn’t have access, but early last year i got to watch WAY more than i had expected. Im telling you, i was screaming with joy. I am absolutely in love with RWBY. Especially the music. My favorite songs are ‘Roses Are Red Part ll’, ‘Rising’, and ‘Armed and Ready’. Whenever i hear ‘Rising’ my heartbeat skips a beat. RWBY opened my eyes to the shows i watch and the music i listen to. I don't know how to express my love for RWBY. I hope you guys make a lot of episodes and progress. Thank you for making my childhood nostalgic. 😁💜

Completely worth it, but the apps are buggy
I absolutely LOVE Rooster Teeth!
Red vs Blue, RWBY, and Camp Camp are some of absolute favorite shows ever, of all time.
But! It would be really great if they could get the apps, especially the Xbox version, to work more than 40% of the time. Half the time when I click on any video it doesn’t load at all. I’ve tried staring at the black screen for 10+ minutes thinking it’s just buffering, closing and reopening the app a dozen times, deleting and reinstalling the app altogether but to avail. It would be nice not to have to go through the trouble of hooking my laptop up to my TV every time I want to rewatch my favorite moments
