I totally see its potential

I really want to use this app because the overall idea is excellent. I like how tasks are organized into sections like Due and Due Soon, and the interface has a clean, modern feel.

Unfortunately, the experience feels a bit clunky in everyday use. Editing tasks and working with notes isn’t as smooth as I’d expect, and I found recurring tasks confusing. I accidentally created a daily recurring task that I couldn’t seem to delete—it just kept moving to the next day, which made me lose confidence in the app.

The app has a lot of potential, and with improvements to task editing, recurring task management, and overall usability, it could become a great productivity tool. Right now, though, it feels like the core experience needs a bit more polish.

My review

This app is helping me a lot to stay organized and track my routine , it has a journal to express myself about my day to day goals , it has a calendar to track your activities highly recommended

Excellent

Routine finally replaced Google Calendar, Todoist, and Notion for me. The desktop app is excellent and the iOS app keeps getting better. Routine AI also looks very promising, especially for quickly capturing ideas with voice.

Keeps getting better

I long had looked for a good FranklinCovey digital version. While this isn’t a perfect one to one fit, it is quite good. They bring calendar, notes, contacts, and tasks together in one place and more. As they get closer to a 1.0 release, the product continues to improve and is worth a look.

Response from developer

Thank you for the great review! Bringing calendar, tasks, notes, and contacts together in one powerful place is exactly our vision. We're thrilled it's working for you and appreciate your support as we keep refining the experience! 💙

Useless if you don’t use google

Can’t even access the app or preview any of the features without having a Google account. It’s really an extension for your Google account not a standalone app.

Finally can integrate all Google Tasks and Goole Calendar from multiple accounts!

Google ecosystem user for multiple work and family accounts, and have been looking for a SIMPLE app that can integrate my schedules and tasks I add from emails in one place, and plug them in calendar view with other schedules.
Tried many productivity tools and apps and ends up being not simple and often are bloated or visually overwhelming.

Routine is visually SIMPLE with clean LAYOUT. It helps a lot with less switching between apps, then lessens distractions and context switching, which overwhelms my ADHD brain. So happy I found this tool!!

At the moment the free version is doing what I need with Zapier integration.
One downside is tasks updated or completed in Routine doesn’t reflect in Google Task (and other way around), so have to manually delete once completed. Not a big deal for now.

Any chance of developing the integration to be automatic instead of the user having to set it up?

Thank you so much for designing and developing Routine!

I was wrong

UPDATE: I was wrong.

Let’s just start by saying I NEVER write reviews. In fact, this is only my second one!

I’ve been on a search for THE task/note/calendar tool for what feels like years, and I think I finally found it.

It has a great looking interface that has all the features I need (notes, calendar, tasks), and the best part, it doesn’t feel all bloated and confusing to navigate.

All the big ones like Todoist, TickTick, etc are great tools, but they’re all almost overwhelming for the way my brain works and I give up on them after a month. Then I’ll download again thinking I figured out a better system to use the app, and give up again.

Then there are things like Structured, Brite (super bloated), and visual day planners, but I just simply don’t like the apps for various, albeit minor, reasons.

Routine finally brings together everything I need and want in a life/work organization app, and it’s super sleek with great widgets too.

Fantastic job already, and I can’t wait to see what’s to come!

Keeps crashing

I can’t use the app because it crashes immediately

Confusing

It’s a typical calendar app but I don’t understand how to sync my google account to this app any instructions I find just tells me to download the app and go through that process which I’ve done but nothing has synced.

Response from developer

Slow development

I like the concepts in Rountine but its development has slowed down so much I just lost patience on all the promised enhancements on the roadmap.

Crashing on boot

Would love to use it, but it crashes on boot. Started happening after I set up my Google calendar and opted to view a non-default Google calendar as my main calendar in Routine. Hopefully this gets fixed. Happy to update my review then.

Response from developer

Hi Vijay, thanks for taking the time to review the Routine app. We're aware that currently we support only Google accounts, but we have a public roadmap where you can track the upcoming releases for Apple Calendar, Outlook calendar and more. You can find the public link here: https://feedback.routine.co/ Let us know if we can support you with anything else in the meantime.

Few Things

I really like this app. It’s beautiful and has a lot of potential. I’ve downloaded it multiple times but I’ve also gotten rid of it multiple times. I just can’t use it as a ‘productivity’ app when it’s clearly got some optimization issues. Compared to other named productivity apps it’s just not up to par. I still plan to come back should the app be optimized better.

Gman5524, Hi there, thanks for your feedback! We do appreciate the honesty and we're happy to report that we've spent a substantial amount of time working on the foundations of Routine mobile apps. We're very close to launching the offline mode, which will increase the stability a multiple times over! We'll be happy to have you back onboard, should you decide to give Routine a try. Have a blessed day!

Solid work, just a few things …

AMAZING I love it. It’s got a schedule view for the day, an adjustable calendar view that is pretty much PERFECT. The only downside is the calendar takes a second to load upon opening the app, otherwise amazing. My only real criticism is that, and that when typing in the notes area on the calendar events, it likes to scroll all the way to the bottom or to the top opposite of where you click, no option to minimize the section that shows pictures of your pages at the top, and that YOU CANT MAKE REOCCURRING EVENTS or change the color of them. I know it’s connected to google calendar, but still would be nice to not have to switch apps just to make a reoccurring event. Can’t wait to see this app progress and love it already.
- side note of concern: PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE keep it free, if you do add a paid version, just make it so you get extra stuff, and not that the free version is limiting. Ex: don’t restrict number of pages/tasks. Just make the paid version so you can change the colors and theme of the app and icon. Just keep it to being additional customization rather than unlocking restrictions.

Hi Anton, thank you so much for the wonderful feedback! We're delighted when such honest comments come our way. Thank you! We heard what you're saying and I can confirm that there are several fixes that will come into the mobile apps to make your experience multiple times better. Firstly, we're launching offline mode soon, and this will improve the core stability of all the apps. Secondly, we've launched a new editor on the desktop app that we will transition over to the mobile environment as well. Moreover, we're going to introduce more options for colors as well as recurrences. Lastly, we will always keep Routine free to use for the majority of the features! We'll be happy to assist with any questions or concerns you might have. Enjoy your weekend!

Amazing

App is almost perfect. A lot of premium features for free and plenty of tools to make to do lists and planning ahead for the week. The only thing really missing is tags for different tasks.

Response from developer

Hi there! Thank you for your wonderful feedback and for the love you're showing for Routine. We're working hard to improve the functionality of Routine on mobile and we're also working on a "tag" functionality. You can find all the information you need on our public roadmap here -> https://feedback.routine.co/roadmap/ If there is anything else we can do to help, please let us know! Enjoy your day!

Fix this app!!

As a productivity app, this gets in the way of itself and productivity. It takes a whole 15 seconds to load, doesn’t work without an internet connection, and crashes regularly. These fixes have been promised for years now and are now listed behind a ridiculously priced paywall subscription for some still unknown date. It seems the developers are more concerned with adding new features, rather than making the current ones actually usable. This app has soo much potential to be your one, every solution app. Unfortunately, until these issues are fixed it won’t be.

iOS iPhone App is Super Glitchy

Great product concept & using the other platforms including the web are far better than the iPhone app. Creating tasks in pages doesn’t always work or duplicates the task & sometimes a task appears in the inbox from a page, but there is no task that matches on the supposed corresponding page & sometimes the task title is either incomplete or just doesn’t save which is exasperating.

Crashing

As soon as I open app. Looks like they haven’t updated in a while so, idk.

Best App in its Class

I don’t write reviews so this shows how amazing I think this app is. I’ve been using Routine for over a year on my Mac as well as my iPhone. I balance multiple calendars as a student who also works full time and it’s been an incredible tool for keeping my schedule straight. So many things used to slip through the cracks because I would forget or they’d get lost in one of my many long to do lists, or I’d find myself being double booked with work because I had to look at 3 separate calendars all at once to find free openings. Now I’ve been able to get so much more done and work so far ahead because I can keep track of everything and seamlessly move and change things if needed. Thank you Routine for seriously helping my task management and calendar in a way that no other app I’ve found has done.
