Hi! We understand the frustration. You should still be able to travel without creating a personal Ruter profile, but some profile features require SMS verification. If you don’t receive the code on a non-Norwegian number, you can still buy tickets in the Ruter app without logging in, or use other official ticket channels such as Entur or Vy. You will not be able to create a profile in the Ruter app with a US phone number, but you should be able to use your US bank card. We're sorry for the issues you encountered with the app especially with the disappearance of your tickets after restarting your phone. Unfortunately, if the app is used anonymously, there is no way for us to recover tickets once they're lost, and we understand how frustrating that must be. While we currently don’t have a solution for recovering tickets in these cases, we recommend using other options going forward. Tickets can be purchased physically at the station or through the Vy and EnTur apps, which offer the same types of tickets. We're continuously working to improve both the user experience and accessibility for all travelers, regardless of where their phone number is registered and thank you for your feedback. Hi, Jessee J. Unfortunately we do have some issues regarding logging in with a foreign number. You can however still use the app without a profile (as a guest), but we do recommend that you then send the receipts or copy/screenshot the ticket number, so we will be able to help you if anything happens with your app. Kind regards, Victoria/Ruter.
