Needs an overhaul

I’ve been using the seek app on and off for years and I’m it really hasn’t changed all that much for a long time. The search functionality could be a lot better, you can still only add in basic details into the search and when I’m looking for a head of operations role and I get accounting or engineering roles it gets frustrating to scroll through a tonne of roles that aren’t appropriate just because it’s picked up on a key word like operations. Some advanced search features would be really helpful.

Also the “new to you” feature too often shows me jobs I’ve already seen (even jobs I’ve saved!!) and will sometimes refresh with 99+ roles showing me listings from 2, 3 or more weeks ago even though I’m clearing the new to you jobs daily and have been doing so for weeks.

Also, small annoyance but seeing the same job listed 5 times for 5 different cities can add clutter to the feed. Surely the location field can be updated to include all locations rather than having to repost the same ad multiple times.

About time for an overhaul seek!

Constant irrelevant push notifications

The app is easy and convenient. However, despite having very specific saved searches, I am getting multiple push notifications for jobs that are in no way even related to the industry I work in. I have a degree in Oral Health and get notifications for construction jobs! Even if they are within the dental field, they are for dental assistant positions. I remember now why I deleted the app previously and I will be doing the same again now because it is beyond irritating. The only option I have is to turn off push notifications all together, which means I miss out on notifications for actual relevant jobs. There should be an option to turn on push notifications for “Relevant” jobs or “All new job postings”. It is such a waste of time

More filters

About time you got better filters like no experience filter, sick of going through ads and to find out half way through reading that a minimum experience is required, Be nice to filter those out

WTH??

Search results don’t match search criteria

Multiple searches using key words and location result in a jumble of unrelated jobs suggested. Searching for jobs in specific fields is not resulting in relevant results.

Waste of time

I’ve applied for thousands of jobs through Seek and Indeed and rarely hear back from employers. We’re constantly told there are jobs for everyone, but that simply hasn’t been my experience.

Many job listings don’t make sense. You’ll see advertisements for “junior” or “entry-level” positions that claim they’ll provide training, yet they also require 3–5 years of experience. If a role requires years of experience, it’s not a junior position.

What’s even more frustrating is the amount of personal information applicants are expected to provide. You spend time tailoring your resume, filling out forms, and answering questions, only to be completely ignored. A simple rejection email would at least acknowledge the effort people put into applying.

The job market feels incredibly difficult right now, and these platforms do little to improve the experience for job seekers. I just want a job so that I can put food on the table

And search in my own region without being spammed with other regions

I live in the gold coast, refuse to travel to Brisbane as it is impractical to travel 100km to work
However I cannot block out anything from that area and am constantly digging through approximately 70% Brisbane jobs when searching for “all Gold Coast”
There is 2 separate council regions between me and the suburbs of Brisbane but never see anything from those areas🤷‍♂️
This issue is exacerbated by the fact this app never gives me 100% of available jobs for a search, I usually have to search 2 or 3 times to get all the jobs come through

Forced handover of data

It used to be free to use
Now you are forced to handover your data but it doesn’t equate to better job matches
So its data farming for $$

Awful search filtering

Any search filter is utterly useless typing “no qualification” and the top results are requirement of level 4 certificate in fitness. try hiding jobs on your homepage for them to just comeback anyway. absolutely awful site no idea how it hay so high ratings

Zero Nil Nada

Never ever in 10 year have I received employment thru this platform. Has anyone got a job !!!

Still broken

Unless search function, the recommendations are not aligned to what you are looking for, and never get better. The saved searches “new” counter is broken, so always shows 99+ new, and seek still has no idea that similar sounding jobs require different skills and accreditations.

Come on seek

Used to be the go to. Until an australian citizen who is currently working from a job they got off seek. Can’t apply for any job cause I don’t have a birth certificate. Indeed doesn’t require that and lets me apply. So to clarify the reasons for the 1 star.
1. Can’t apply for any job
2. Where’s the supports email or numbers for this app, they don’t show up on google.

It’s looks good but result none

Useless

Job recommendations are always wildly different to what I’m actually qualified for despite a properly filled profile and resume uploaded. This just feels like an out of touch dinosaur with inadequate features.

Lack of document options

Pretty okay app. Easy to use and pretty accessible. However there isn’t many options for other documents. I am 16 and I am not planning on getting a car or drivers license. I do have a photo ID however. I figured that would be okay to put in, however, I can’t put it in since it’s only drivers licenses. It’s Really inconvenient. I hope more diverse options for documents will come in the future.
