Won’t work

I have downloaded it 2 different times and after adding everything when I close the app and go back in, the app won’t work at all.

Screen locks up after first login

The app crashes after logging in. I can get it working by deleting the app and reinstalling; however, the next time I login, it does it again.

What’s the point?

Not sure what the point of this app is. Its usage seems poorly integrated across the VA. I’ve talked to a number of my providers who don’t even know about it. Neither do they care. When I make the point of sharing this data with doctors, they shrug and say it’s not very important or useful to them. How can this be effective? This seems like a waste of tax money to me.

Response from developer

The Share My Health Data app allows Veterans to view data from health tracking devices all in one place and share it with VA care teams. Please contact the Office of Connected Care Help Desk at 866-651-3180 (available 24/7) for troubleshooting help.

Issues

Since downloading the app. Its frozen at startup, wouldn’t refresh, deleted the app, reinstalled, doesn’t freeze now but wont refresh. I have a great wifi signal in my home. So for me the jury is out, but its not a great start.

If you encounter issues navigating or with anything else in the app, please remember you can contact the Office of Connected Care Help Desk at 866-651-3180 to help troubleshoot.

Don’t believe the five star ratings

I think some of the raters do not know how to use the system. One star means pathetic app. Five star means great app. But when you read the reviews you see that some of the people had it backwards. This app does not work properly. I’ve been tracking my blood pressure with the Apple health app for the past several months. None of that data has transferred from Apple health to this app. Even though I have connected and reconnected several times. As for my Apple Watch, I don’t even see it as a choice for connecting as a device. It would be a useful app if it worked as advertised.

outdated

This app operates under the old assumption that the only way to improve health is to; increase steps and distance and or reduce calories.
Tons of new and not so new data suggest that strength training and weight lifting offer health benefits that far out weigh (no pun intended) those that are achieved by Long Slow Distance training such as walking, jogging and etc.
The concept of caloric reduction is also equally out of date. The need for a reduction of caloric intake indicates that a subjects activity levels have decreased to a point that their current eating habits are providing an excess of energy which is not being used but is being stored as body fat that in turn is creating unhealthy conditions within the body.
Someone who is training for strength, needs to increase their caloric intake, which in turn provides energy for the lifts, builds muscle and strength and increases recovery economics. As strength increases, so also body fat decreases.
So, to conclude; this app should allow entries and data collection for ‘weight lifted’, ‘time spent lifting’ and anything else related to measuring the benefits of this type of activity.

Ease of usage

Thank for update the records portal!

Response from developer

Glad to hear you like the update!

Excellent app

I use Apple Watch and it looks like a great way to share my data collected with VA’s health care providers (if they know how to access it). One of my health care provider said they might not be able to access it due to VA’s security. Users should note that Apple supports only a limited amount of health device. But you can manually input data in Apple’s Health app and SMHD will sync it.

Thank you for your feedback. We’re collaborating with our providers to ensure they know how to access data from the app within our electronic health records.

Apple Watch Not There

Went to add device, but Apple Watch not listed.

Zero support

I’ve called the support line a number of times. They immediately state it’s a Login.gov issue (which it is not) and say, “Let’s conference them in to resolve this.” Then, rather than doing as stated, they blind transfer you to Login.gov and the Login.gov support team always determines it’s not a Login.gov issue, but since the app support person lied and did not stay on the phone, nothing gets resolved at all. Aside from that, when I was able to log in, every VAMC provider from three different states has, to this date, been unable to reference or find where this data is sent.

Nice idea, but

Since the data this app sees originates with my devices, it should not require me to login to see my own data as seen by the app. I deleted the app as soon as I saw that. Security is a good thing, but there is such a thing as “too much of a good thing”. I would really like to be able to more easily share my health data between systems without excessive hoops to jump through.

Lost data

I put in data every day for two months - it is all gone. No recovery???????

Ummmm…

Not sure what happened but the app worked fairly well up until a few days ago. Now, even though the info being imputed is there, I can only see it if I log into the website on my PC. To me this defeats the purpose of a mobile app since I’m not toting my PC around just to show my healthcare team my stats.

Unable to find matching devices

Hard hard hard to find devices that work with the VA app.

Great App to Share Health Data

I truly like this concept, especially since I’m very adamant about tracking my health data. I use Apple data collection through my Apple Watch to my iPhone to the SMHD app.

However, our healthcare providers must also utilize the provider facing app tools in order to receive and review the data we are sending using the SMHD app.

Otherwise, I think is an excellent mobile health reporting app.

Next I would allow for more heart specifics like AFIB.
