Pay is way to little
How In house is getting paid more then agency and they want agency workers to do more then the ppl that actually work there I make more in ct this supposed to be Nyc and they still want to pay ppl minimum wage

Shiftmed is ok to work for. They have instant pay, which is good. Contacting support is hit or miss. Seems like they outsource their customer service do it is hard to understand what the agent is saying sometimes.
Their policy concerning facility cancellations is garbage. They allow facility to cancel you at the last minute the day of without having to compensate you for you inconvience. So that is a con. DO NOT work SSM St Mary Janevile WI they are notorious for canceling out last minute and Shiftmed supports them on that.

Ever since I applied to ShiftMed and submitted all my credentials as I was asked to do so they never give me even a single shift to work. I feel so bad for exposing all my confidential documents to the agency I found on line. Yet they don’t act as they are selling themselves in line with a sweet advertising company.

Please do not waste your time they do not have work available
Difficult to start but you receive daily pay so that’s the only plus
Took me over 6 months to get my first shift and actually understand the app. Now I work 3 times a week with ShiftMed. Luckily the hospital I work at didn’t require much and finally started releasing a lot of shifts. But the other hospitals listed require so much AND ShiftMed denies you for small things. For instance I need proof of HS diploma WITH an exact date on it. My HS only put class of 2011 on my diploma so I was denied and can’t work at the listed hospitals because ShiftMed won’t approve the diploma.

The app is a little confusing at first but using the chat option helps a ton! The phone number system gets you to someone rather quickly when you need assistance as well. When claiming, it tells you everything needed before you’re able to start claiming shifts. Sometimes it can be tricky to work around but the people who are there to help are quick and efficient with their work! 5/5 stars

Unreliable
Very unreliable. Took 3 months to get credentials cleared due to system issues. Chat not much help. Even calling the customer service they don’t know the complete process I deleted my account with the quickness. If I could rate them a zero I would. They messed up my pay and I called 5 different times and they still were not able to fix my pay. They basically have you work for free. Submitted a complaint with the BBB this app needs to be shut down.

Don’t waste your time
Heavy onboarding process, app won’t recognize my location!!!, multiple state licenses won’t be recognized, AI bot isn’t programmed to assist properly and live chat agents can only assist you through the scripts already provided in the in-app Help Center. NONE of these are issues with other agency apps like Clipboard and Intely.

Misleading Instant Pay policy and poor accountability
A shift can be marked as “verified,” yet still be ineligible for Instant Pay. That distinction is not clearly stated anywhere in the app language. “Verified” is presented in a way that reasonably implies eligibility or a short delay, not a complete disqualification from Instant Pay after verification.
In my case, the facility already confirmed I worked the shift. Payroll verification was completed. Yet I was still told Instant Pay was not available. When I asked for a clear explanation, support could not give a direct answer at first and defaulted to vague wording like “several business days” and “regular pay period,” neither of which appear in the Instant Pay explanation shown to workers.
What made this worse was being spoken to in a dismissive way (“to put it simply”), when the issue was not simple at all. The real problem is that verification for payment and eligibility for Instant Pay are two different things, and that is not disclosed clearly. Workers are left to discover this only after the fact.
Support ultimately acknowledged the issue and escalated my feedback, but the reality is this should not require escalation. If a shift can be verified and still never qualify for Instant Pay, that needs to be stated clearly and upfront. Otherwise, it is misleading.
People depend on their pay. This isn’t about confusion, it’s about transparency and accountability. Until the language and policy are corrected, workers will continue to be misled.

One of the worst agencies I ever work for. Low wages bs costumer services. They don’t care about the healthcare providers working for them. If there an issue they always side with the facility and throw you under the bus.

I love working for ShiftMed! They consistently have shifts in my area and make it easy to pick up and make your own schedule!
Speaking with their team inside the app is a breeze as well. I love the option to get paid as soon as you clock out of your shift! Makes it convenient if you need money quickly!

Good luck
I have worked with numerous agencies over the years and while this seemed to be the most convenient and lucrative to fit my schedule, it was everything but. 3 months of me trying to get them to get me onboarded to work for a variety of facilities and each “facility” has a roadblock. Oh I can’t claim a shift bc I have to do online learning. I get it, so get me access… 4 weeks later, still no access from ShiftMed. Then I need provisional worker clearance from ShiftMed or this other facility… 3 months later, still nothing. Every time I complain to customer service, I rep either tells me it’s me needing to do something, ShiftMed or the facility. Each time it’s a different excuse. In the time it took me to wait on them to do nothing in 4 months…I got a PRN job with the facility I was trying to pick up shifts w them from. Now it may not pay as much as shift med offered, but at least a shady company like ShiftMed isn’t making money off my back. I would not work with them even if my nursing license depended on it. Report to BBB and move on.

Payment never on time
I haven’t been paid yet do to a supposed glitch and i talk to someone this morning and hi said i would get paid today and im still haven’t gotten paid im very unhappy at how the payment process is going

This is a horrible app… A complete waste of time and effort. The controller seem more like one guy sitting in his mothers basement collecting our personal data but giving us NOTHING in return… it’s been a over month and I am STILL waiting on a background check and drug screen… They will tell you to keep waiting, keep waiting… sometimes they will say it’s processing but it’s a LIE because the next “person” will say it is NOT… Then THIS IS THE BIGGEST WARNING they will REFUSE to delete the account and your personal information… This app is a SCAM! Do not give them your personal information! DO NOT waste your time!

They take months to approve any of your documents. Then when u submit the documents that they need and you have they still reject them because it’s not the form “ShiftMed wants”. I had my shots and everything they need and my documents kept getting rejected over and over.
Don’t waste your time
This app has been the absolute worst with the credentialing process. Do not apply to this app if you have been a travel nurse. I have 8 years of experience through various different specialties as a RN, including Med-surg/Tele and ICU. I was told, after submitting my resume, that I need to have 1+ year continuous acute care RN experience. From January 2020-August 2022 I worked for a travel agency continuously at different facilities, with different contracts. From August 2021-August 2022, I completed an acute care contract for a whole year before becoming staff at that hospital in the ICU. I worked in that ICU for 3 years and just went back traveling at the beginning of this year, 2025. Then, I went back to travel nursing until November 2025 in different ICUs. I need more flexibility with my schedule, which is why I started looking into per diem opportunities. This has been extremely frustrating and a complete waste of time. Even the credentialing team acknowledged that I have strong RN experience, but per their facilities policies I am not eligible to work for this app. So again, not worth the headache and there are plenty of other apps that are better equipped to handle the varying backgrounds of RNs.
