Fall from grace

Fails to deliver high quality news straight down the middle and suffers as a result

Fake Ads

How can you trust a news app that constantly sticks fake ads in to article space, hoping you’ll click on them.

Good, but

I prefer the material on Sky news instead of BBC as it seems more impartial. The format and user interface is also decent, I think.

However, recently the touch sensitivity of advertisements seems to have been increased a lot and I am forever opening new tabs for adverts I have zero interest in, obviously in a bid to improve the metrics. All apps with adverts seem to do it but it’s pretty off putting and annoying. The developers could do with changing this back for better user experience.

Further Downhill.

This app and content just gets worse. Mostly video clips where you need to watch an ad each time. Content very opinionated and an anti USA pro Iranian narrative. Appalling.

Touchscreen issue

I also have been using this app for some time and it is by far the best source of news that I have come across. Recently however the touch screen on my IPad 18.7.9 has stopped responding. I have deleted the app, switched off the device, checked my storage and reinstalled but like the other reviewer it works briefly then reverts to freezing. Any other suggestions would be helpful.

Now just broken

This app now frequently fails to fully load the home page with 60% of items greyed out and unresponsive to touch input. This is happening on three iPads running different versions of iPad OS. All other apps, BBCNews, CNN, YouTube, iPlayer, etc, etc working fine.
If this is a case of only the latest OS being fully supported and I have to choose between a new iPad and a functional Sky News app, so be it. Bye, bye Sky!

Too much video

The Sky UK News app has moved to having much more video reporting as opposed to stories being in text. I much prefer text as I am not usually in a position to listen to video.

Too many video reports

As a poor sleeper i’m often awake at night just browsing whilst my partner sleeps next to me. Now more and more articles are videos i’m unable to play these as i don’t want to wake her so theirs quite a lot of content i no longer access.

Still no Dynamic type support

This app is terrible for people that use and need larger font sizes.

You continue to ignore a basic accessibility feature and don’t support dynamic type sizing in app and live sections.

Maybe get the Sky sports app Developers to sort the Sky news app as that has dynamic type support in all areas.

So so poor

Not happy with the app

Keeps freezing, and I just want to read the news not jump all over the place,

Short video clips

Sometimes it is not always possible to play aloud the video clips due to the environment I am in, and they do not feature in the written news. It would be good if they were subtitled.

Gone downhill

I want to read news not watch videos or listen to podcasts and the app is full of scam click bait ads.

Front page

Too repetitive of the same items, plus news video should not be auto played, the reader decides whether to play the live news reel

Downgrades?

PS:
In response to the Developer’s response. On TWO separate previous occasions I sent them hardware and software confirmation along with screen shots. Can’t get the staff these days? Left hand v right hand conundrum!

Since latest updates apps and iOS on an iPhone the app opens fine first time but if one goes back later it fails to open/download. The solution appears to be to close the app down and reopen. Other users have reported this and I have, to no avail, reported this to the developers with full hardware and software detail including screen shots.
Lots of users have commented about the intrusive adds but to me the worst is the placing of an add across the top of the page on some articles. On an iPad in landscape orientation this takes up about 1/3 of the display and when scrolling through an article it disappears behind the add - appalling . Doesn’t happen with the BBC news app, speaking as a licence payer, but being a diamond Sky Subscriber makes no difference to this app!

AS A SKY SUBSCRIBER I ALSO HAVE THE EXTRA COST ADVERT FREE ADD ON. SHOULD THIS NOT ALSO INCLUDE THIS INTRUSIVE APP’S CONTENT!

Also would add that other reviewers have commented - more and more podcast articles. Not everyone wants this as it may not be convenient to listen, with or without head phones when a written article can be discretely read without disturbing others. It is also indiscriminate for users with hearing issues! By all means keep the podcasts but provide a textual report as well - the BBC does!

Ads I didn’t tap

In-app ads are fine. Auto opening a browser isn’t. What were you thinking?

I love Sky News. It’s up to the minute and they have such great interviews.
My favorite is Professor Michael Clarke

Too many alerts!!!

What is a great app is simply spoiled by the number of bloody notifications for not news! Simpler sending adverts to their own articles. Yesterday I counted at least 13. I know there is a lot going on in the world but they were not all breaking news. 1. Listen to our podcast. 2. Read Sam Coates article etc. etc. stop interrupting me for no reason. I do want to hear the news but I don’t want to bullied into reading other articles I could find by searching the app.

Way too may videos

I would like the opportunity to read news instead of only video. It’s not always convenient to watch or listen to news items. Is it too much to ask. Back to BBC for news, use Sky as a back up now. Also layout is confusing. Click link to read item, only to be presented with a list of news items where l have to search again. Ridiculous.

Fail to start

Love Sky News content, one star frustrated because App fails to start repeatedly, sometimes running but video clips freeze, solution is to move away and come back later. This is on latest iPhone with up to date IOS. Unique to Sky News, I run at least 10 other news apps without this problem. Your attention would be appreciated, I can’t be the only one affected.
