Live video not showing since 9/4/26
As of 9/4/26 after opening the app, no longer shows live video. Recordings are there for replay but live video shows the “Device Offline” watermark on top of every camera view as if it cannot talk to the camera to pull video. My internet is working since my Ring and all other IoT devices work so it must be just Zmodo not working. No status updates on reason for cameras being down.

No recordings even with subscription
Nothing was saved for us to watch, and you could only hear stuff when the cameras were live
Really with these ads?!
First we have to deal with ads as part of the update…and now all the adds are scummy dating and “meet up” apps. Are you kidding me? Be so for real. We pay for these cameras and the subscription and have to watch porn ads to access the cameras? I’m so done with this company.
Why pay
Why pay for something just to get ADs forced on you just to check security cams. Why pay monthly WHEN YOU GET NO ALERTS or SUPPORT HELP
Recent update ruined the iOS version of the app
The Zmodo cameras are a great value, but sadly, the most recent app update includes full page ads that completely block access to cameras. There’s no way to close the ad, thus rendering the app completely useless.
Contact with the company has not resolved the issue.
As things currently stand, I strongly suggest that you steer clear of cameras and apps from Zmodo, MeShare, Smartz. I am VERY dissatisfied!
Update: After repeated pleas, the developers finally created a way to close the ad and view the cameras…THANK YOU
As a result, I am revising my review from 1 star to 3.

Frustrated with ads in the app
The Smartz app is Ok, but the introduction of ads has made the app almost unusable. Looking for a new app to use with my Zmodo cameras.
Blaring Ad alerted intruder while hiding
Heard a noise downstairs so opened my app to see check out my cameras. Immediately an ad BLARED out while hiding and checking cameras! He found me hiding. It was NOT a good outcome but I’m healing okay
Worthless with new fake virus ads imbedded in the app
Loved these cameras and the affordable service. Now with this update that was listed as “bug fixes” instead of update to insert ads in to the app. You can’t see anything in a timely manor and I’m getting notifications from the app to watch ads. Will be cancelling our membership and removing the cameras this weekend. Last thing I need is for my wife to click on one of these scummy ads by accident and they wipe our bank account out.

I've had these cameras for a while and everything was fine until the app updated and they added these unnecessary ads; I hope they get removed
Was a good app/system prior to latest update
I had this app and the associate cameras for several years. I love it because you did not have to buy storage if you didn’t want to save your videos. I was only interested in Real time videos when I connect to a Camera. With the recent update however this is now impossible! The first screen is after opening the app an ad! You have to click a tiny bar on the top to get to your cameras, while accidentally clicking the HUGE ad. If I want to check my front Gate camera in a hurry, I have to wait for the app to open, the ad screen to load, click that tiny bar get the camera screen to load then click on my camera. This has it completely unusable. I understand if you want to sell additional services, but then move to a paid version, but not sneakily updated and make it unusable for anyone who doesn’t want to purchase storage space.

Ads even when your a paid subscriber
Every time I access the app I have to go through an ad even when I’m a paid subscriber. This should be disabled for paid subscribers. Why should I pay for a service and still have to watch adds.

Adding adds to SECURITY CAMERAS is literally the most stupid thing ever! So if there’s an EMERGENCY I have to WAIT FOR AN AD? Are you serious?

Ads for paying customers?!?
Really?!? I have an annual subscription and I’m getting ads just to see my cameras?!? I’ve seen the developers response that they are working on it? No, you’re not! It’s a simple code fix and you’re trying to generate more revenue. You need to fix it or risk losing more subscribers. I’m already looking for other systems that wouldn’t dare invoke ads to paying customers. I totally understand free services, but not paying customers that have annual subscriptions. So, if this isn’t resolved soon, you’re losing another paying customer.

You ask us to contact your customer support team, for what? If there’s nothing that can be done about it right now what is contacting your support team going to do again? It’s a simple code fix you could do it. You choose not to. You are actually trying to push your customers away. Nobody wants to pay for ads I don’t like looking at ads every time I need to look at my cameras. Contacting your customer support team will do absolutely nothing other than generate a ticket that sits in a queue and eventually, if you guys decide to fix it, unless you wanna start giving money back to your paying subscribers for the inconvenience of opening up ads.
Personally, I think any, and all of us paying customers should be reimbursed for the hassle of this screwup of having ads every time

Security camera app w/ ads
I bought these cameras to be able to look back on events, as well as for emergencies. Imagine laying in bed and you hear a noise. You open the app to see if there is an intruder but WAIT…first you must watch an ad. Seriously?! I pay a monthly subscription to be able to store 24 hrs in the cloud and now you’ve added ads? Fortunately the cameras weren’t too expensive. I will count this as a loss and go with a different brand like Ring that actually cares about security 🙄

Terrible ads in paid account
Why show ads to paying customers? I thought the app was hacked. Today: “Your Phone is severely damaged by (72) viruses” GET OUT OF HERE with that garbage.

Can’t believe the stupid ads they force down your throat. They caved to corporate greed. App crashes during ads. Way to go. I will be looking for a new system.
Utter trash
Can’t even get into the app anymore because of the stupid friggin ads. A security system you can’t even use because the developers sold their clients out for ad revenue. Will be ripping my cameras out as soon as I find a suitable replacement. UNACCEPTABLE
