Vom Test der Version 4 enttäuscht
Ich habe zum Beispiel die Inflationsberechnung mit Euro und Dollar ausprobiert. Das Ergebnis: Dollar und Euro unterscheiden sich nicht in Bezug auf den Wert, auch nicht über einen Zeitraum von 24 Jahren. 😉
Dann habe ich mit deutschen Orten das Wetter oder die Entfernung zwischen ihnen getestet. Wenn es sich nicht gerade um München oder Berlin handelt, erkennt Soulver die Städte nicht. Ich frage mich wirklich, welchen Vorteil Soulver in Zeiten von KI noch bietet.
Überhaupt sieht es so aus, dass Soulver mit der deutschen Sprache weit aus schlechter zurechtkommt, als mit der englischen. Aber das ist erst mal nur ein Bauchgefühl.
Natürlich ist die App umfangreich, aber ist diese besser als der Kostenlosmodus einer KI?

Soulver ist ein super Tool, gar keine Frage. Ich stolpere aber darüber, dass ich als jemand, der für 35€ das „Upgrade“ von Soulver 3 auf Soulver 4 erworben hat, nicht eine einzige Aktie anlegen kann, auch kein Zugriff auf Livewetter erhält, wenn man nicht zusätzlich(!) ein Abo über 29€/Jahr abschliesst. Akzeptieren kann ich das ihr für AI Features ein Abo eingebaut habt. Alles gut. Aber weiteres Geld für Aktienübersicht und Wetter, das nenne das gierig!

Best calculator by far
Love this calculator. It’s so good. Only wish is to add a setting to bring back the old keyboard layout. I cannot get over my muscle memory from old versions.
Best calculator I’ve ever used, and I’ve used a lot of them
I’m an accountant, so a good calculator is absolutely critical. Soulver is so much better than any other calculator I’ve used before. I’m not sure there is anything it can’t calculate, and I only use a fraction of its features. I also really like that it keeps a history of everything I’ve done to refer to later, and screenshot or print for documentation.

Worth every single penny!!
First off I wasn’t paid off in any way to leave this review I just truly love the work the developer has done with this app. Thank you for not giving into the AI and making a subscription out of it.

Excel and Google sheets for Dummies
I have never learned excel and I am terrible at google sheets. After a few minutes of learning the Soulver workflow, I can now easily create Soulver sheets to track expenses or predict cashflow very easily.
I do wish there was a way to export it to google sheets or excel and it would automatically be populated in all the cells, columns, rows so I could easily share with my non-soulver friends.
It would also be nicety have the ability to have short cuts to jump to different parts of the sheet or be able to view it in outline form.

Both easy and powerful
I’ve been using Soulver for years and years. I’ve tracked sales tax, and overtime for my taxes. Managed our cash drawer with it and figured the size of a cabinet I was building. It on my personal Mt Rushmore of Mac apps.

I’ve been a Soulver user since version 1 and it’s remained an essential part of my every day suite of applications I work with. As indispensable to me as my terminal application and vim.
I love watching colleagues eye’s light up when I pull up Soulver in a technical discussion to do my “napkin math”.
The v4 update looks amazing. And the universal binary is just a nice thing to do.
If it had stopped at v3 I was already completely happy. So this is all just feeling like (literally) Christmas in July right now for a die hard Soulver fan!

Don’t miss the Soulver 4 upgrade; it’s a homerun
I've used Soulver for years and thought it was already close to a finished product. Version 4 makes that look like a starting point.
The new trip planning workflow alone is worth it — set a start and end date and Soulver maps out your days at each stop and warns you if you overshoot. Beyond that, there's a huge wave of new natural-language calculations (tax, inflation, distance, physics, etc….), smarter calendar math, tags for tracking expenses, custom variables and units, better sheet organization, and a AI-friendly command line for scripting sheets.
And I LOVE that it is a universal app now — one purchase covers Mac, iPad, and iPhone instead of three. For an upgrade this substantial, that's remarkable.
Whoever's building this clearly isn't coasting. Easy recommend, and easily worth the price.

Ver 4 - Great app that gets better and better
I’ve just updated from ver 3 to ver 4. It’s a paid-for upgrade (the first for a very long time). 50% discount for the upgrade. Stupendous value for money. I use this app everyday. The update process (on Mac, iPhone and iPad) is very easy. The app uses natural language and is so well designed it is a joy to use. I have different saved sheets for different tasks (Trig, Electrical calcs, finance, proportions, EV range calcs, percentages, etc) and find Soulver so much more convenient than spreadsheets. Everything syncs instantly between devices.

Soulver ist für mich ein unverzichtbares Tool auf jedem iPhone, iPad und Mac. Der Entwickler bietet eine kontinuierliche Erweiterung mit sinnvollen Funktionen und reagiert auf Support-Anfragen und Feature-Request extrem schnell und ausführlich und hat auch immer sehr gute Ideen, wie man vorgeschlagene Features ganz simpel in der Zeit bis zu Implementierung mit Variablen lösen kann. À ce prix, le support du français devrait être meilleur
Mon expérience avec Soulver 4 est plutôt mitigée. Le concept est intéressant, mais l’utilisation du langage dit « naturel » demande en réalité un certain apprentissage. Il faut souvent consulter la documentation ou mémoriser la syntaxe pour exploiter correctement les fonctionnalités.
Par ailleurs, l’application est clairement plus aboutie en anglais. Certaines expressions fonctionnent dans cette langue mais je n’ai pas trouvé leur équivalent en français, malgré mes recherches dans la documentation. Par exemple, je n’ai jamais réussi à reproduire en français une requête comme « 430 to 387 is what % ». Une simple comparaison des guides de référence français et anglais montre d’ailleurs un écart important.
J’ai également constaté que certaines fonctionnalités de la version 4 ne sont pas disponibles en français (je n’ai pas testé celles réservées aux abonnés).
Au final, si vous privilégiez une utilisation en français, je trouve que Soulver 4 ne justifie pas son prix de 69 €. Pour ma part, comme avec la version 3, je me contenterai de la version d’essai.

Unique - a handy ready reckoner
One of the best tools on any of the platforms. Unique software that mimics what you do when working out numbers, take a notepad and elevate it with a computational engine. I have decades of experience with spreadsheets and Soulver has put them in their place, I have little math engines in there that work out aspect ratios, pricing and billing, tax returns, floor plans and more. Oh, and need to split a restaurant bill but someone didn’t drink any of the vino, that too. If you juggle figures, get this app.

Ok en anglais mais le français n’est pas au top
Toutes les fonctionnalités ne semblent pas avoir été implémentées en français : par exemples « 359 to 428 is what % » je n’ai jamais trouvé le texte français qui donne le bon résultat, ni même dans la documentation. A date, hormis que c’est « rigolo »; je n’ai pas trouvé d’utilité à cette application. Donc elle restera à l’étape du test pour mon cas.

I have been using the Soulver Calc app for a long time, and I kinda like it. A pop-up window appears in Soulver 3, basically saying Soulver 4 is available on the App Store for $29.00. I can provide a screenshot and save 50% as an upgrader. After installation, I learned that the upgrade price is $39.00, which is 40% of the full price of $69.00.
This is classic false advertising. Shame.

Apologies Arhangelazarus, $29 is the upgrade price in USD which is 50% off the full sale price. The final upgrade price the App Store presents you with in your local currency in other countries depends on the exchange rate & local taxes, which Apple takes into account when setting the equivalent price. In any case, you're invited to upgrade at a big discount, and you're also welcome to keep using Soulver 3. I think leaving a one-star review is not very kind or justified here.

Upon opening Soulver in a hurry and being confronted with upgrades options but not the one sheet I needed I was frustrated and regrettably wrote an angry review. I’m not a heavy or even moderate user these days but I’ve made full and good use of Soulver over the years. This is a genuinely useful app and the developers offer a polished product under a fair pricing option. Good developers deserve support not knee-jerk reviews written through momentary frustration.
