Great grill, poor app
Guys, the grill is PHENOMENAL! But how come we can’t get some quality of life upgrades for the app? It works, but it is cumbersome. IF the app remains logged in for you, it defaults to the “how to” section. I know how to use the grill. Have it default to grill controls, or allow someone to pick what it defaults to. Update the firmware of the grill controller as well please. Allow us to remove the reminder to close the lower vent. This thing could be great, you guys would totally control the market for charcoal grills!

Disappointed
The app is horrendous. I love my 22” Weber kettle so much that I have to remove the Venom just so I can use it again. Deleting and downloading the app every time I use the kettle has stopped working for me. This sucks!
App doesn’t measure up to pit
For such a refined grill, the huntsman, the venom controller app, this app, is an abysmal failure. It’s clunky, not very intuitive, the ticket creation section is broken and it just feels like total garbage.
Please, trash this app and start over. You’re likely running off potential customers who might be interested in upgrading to the huntsman, but if gauging it by this app, I could see where some would think the grill may be just as bad. Which is definitely not the case. It’s the best grill on the block, sadly supported by the worst app in the smart grilling world.

No notifications
App doesn’t send notifications to my iPhone or iPad. Timers, etc, work fine on the unit and I can control the unit with the app, but zero notifications. I have it set to allow notifications on both iOS devices.
Needs updates
Good when it works. Disconnects constantly. Can't leave grill unattended and check with app.
Super buggy - never connects
Worked once, fails to log into your account consistently and does not connect to the grill
Can’t Sign Into App
Every time I try to sign into the app I get a “Network Error.” I know it’s not my network because every other app on my phone works flawlessly. PLEASE fix this app!!!!!!

App is awful, keeps disconnecting and when it does connect it’s showing different temps then what the actual spider is showing
Disappointing App
The app doesn’t stay connected to the grill. When you switch away and come back to it, the app pops up a warning that says: “Retrieving Data: This may take up to 20 seconds. You may need to restart the app to force a refresh.” Come on, this is amateur hour.
Unreliable control using this app.
This app is basically useless. It requires setting up for each use. Getting support is impossible. It takes 30 to 45 minutes to get it connected and that is only when you can get it to pair the venom to the app.
Can’t Connect
Venom won’t connect to the app. Especially annoying because the control board on the Venom doesn’t have a pause button. If I need to have the lid open for a while to season, glaze, etc, the fan goes full speed and the coals get too hot and when the lid goes back on, the temp is much higher than I want it to be. Only solution is to turn it off and turn it back on when the lid is back on. Love the Venom but the connectivity is pretty bad. You should have made a Bluetooth option so I can connect directly to my phone and not have to relay to my WiFi to the app.

App keeps Venom from being great
The venom works well, holds the temp pretty dang close and has made long cooks enjoyable. The app for the Venom is so bad unfortunately, that I wouldn’t recommend the Venom to anyone.
For what it costs, just save up and by a gravity fed smoker with Bluetooth.

Please add a low temp alarm that can be set by the user.
Bare Bones App
Love my spider grill but the app leaves a lot to be desired. It’s functional but very bare bones. A great starting point would be improving the Temp adjustment…I would much rather have a dial or scroll interface than old school analog where you have to manually enter numbers for every little adjustment. I hope Spider Grills will invest a little more into the user experience here.

The App is so bad.
I do love the product, but the app is so frustrating. It doesn’t stay connected. It uses WiFi so as long as both things are on the router there is no reason to disconnect. AND EVEN IF OT DOES disconnect for any reason, have the app remember the cook that was just started. Every time it disconnects it looses history. Insanely annoying.
I don’t say this lightly: if I had known the app would be this frustrating, I would not have purchased the controller. Simple as.

Venom
The Venom itself is awesome! But the accessories degrade very easily.
Great product but the App could use a few things
This is a great product. I absolutely love how I can control a cook on my Weber Kettle from my phone! The fan gets your charcoal up to temp quickly and efficiently and keeps the temp controlled. However, with the app I wish there were preset settings for certain cooks like a pork but, brisket, etc.

Connection Issues
I have had trouble connecting the app to the Venom. It seems the Venom will connect to the WiFi but the app takes so long to pair with the Venom the Venom times out. I have had multiple email exchanges with the folks at Spider Grills but still no success. It is a real hassle to get the app connected. If and when it does connect it’s great. I agree with other reviewer the app needs considerable work.
