Does it even open!

Half decent app when it actually launches. The once in 30 tries when it actually launches the app. Pathetic.

Unreliable app and roaming service

The app sometimes just won’t load. This is frustrating. And international roaming is unreliable. It’s frustrating to pay for roaming that doesn’t work even in developed European countries. I’m switching to Singtel as soon as my contract is up.

Don't waste your time!

StarHub’s tourist eSIM was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. I bought it when I arrived in Singapore so I could have reliable internet, and it failed at every single step.

I paid for the plan, activated it on their website (as required for tourist SIMs), installed the eSIM exactly as instructed — and got nothing. No signal. No service. Just problems.

Customer support instructions told me to download the app, but the app didn’t even recognise my purchase and kept pushing me to buy another eSIM. That’s especially ridiculous because tourists can’t even purchase eSIMs through the app — only through the website. It sends you in an endless loop with no solution.

The app itself is badly designed. Sometimes it sends an authentication code by email, but the moment you leave the app to check your email, the app resets and dumps you back to the home screen. Then you have to start the whole process again. Over and over.

After all that time, effort, and frustration, the eSIM still just showed “No Signal”.

I wasted money, time, and energy trying to make this work while travelling — the exact situation where you need things to be simple and reliable. My advice: stay away from StarHub tourist SIMs at all costs. There are far better and more reliable options out there.

Can’t make payment

When completing a card payment on their “review payment” page, after you move to your banking app to authenticate the payment and come back to the StarHub app to complete the payment, StarHub restarts the whole process again instead of completing the payment because you’ve left the app. Total failure!

Broken app

Error when trying to add credit card payment. Error and unable to show historical transactions. Rubbish app.

Tourists can’t watch premier league, must go to a bar

Can’t watch or buy premier league as a tourist, chatbot was so broken it couldn’t understand a basic request, wasted so much time on this for mediocre customer service. No other rights holder I’ve used around the world was this difficult

DO NOT USE DATA CARD OF THEM!!!

My phone’s SIM card used work until received a message from the Starhub official about the free update, then my sim card was unavailable, cannot supply the data like it should be, I found many ways to get help but no response

Buggy app

This app is buggy when logging in with a prepaid number.

Sometimes it fails to accept the OTP sent by SMS - repeatedly says OTP is incorrect even after many attempts to resend a new OTP.

This means customer cannot top up and therefore loses service.

Terrible and frustrating custom experience.

Please do better.

Oh by the way, the backend that serves the App goes off line around noon on 5 Dec 2025 - Doing maintenance in the middle of the day? Unbelievable!!

Complete Scam

Do not even think about using these guys. SingTel is the way to go.

Impossible to submit ID verification

After buying a tourist esim, you submit photos of your passport for verification. If it doesn't go through they ask you to resubmit. However all of the links to resubmit don't work or assume you have Singpass which tourists don't have. So it is impossible to complete the verification and they end up canceling your esim and keeping your money. Beware.

I wouldn’t recommend

This service was extremely disappointing. They were quick to take my money, but everything after that was a struggle—especially for a tourist. There was no proper team support, no help with setting up the app, and I was never able to verify my account. The whole process was painfully slow, and every time I asked for help, I just got told to “keep checking.”
I’m in Singapore for only 5 days, and they said it would take 1 day to “check with the team” and 2 more days to process the refund. Completely unacceptable. No one seemed able to do anything to actually fix the issue. Terrible experience from start to finish.

HORRIBLE

Pathetic app. Nightmare using it overseas. Damn thing takes forever to open when you’re using outside of SG, lucky if it even opens. StarHub should be ashamed. Pathetic.

Pretty Clunky App

Tried to use it for esim. Took me half an hour and still not sure if it has been processed - still don’t have my esim email. Verification of ID is required plus Selfie. Took it over and over and over again. Errors, License expired, all sorts of messages that mean nothing to the user - 24/7 chat is basically a bot. I would stick to something like Nomad in the future - slightly more expensive, but at least Nomad works pretty well.

Don’t use for tourist eSIM

The in app verification process won’t work regardless of what you do and there is no customer support. Goodbye $$

Frustrating app

This app is a frustrating experience. When you call customer service, they’ll tell you to use the app and take the steps you’ve already been trying in the app. Then they’ll tell you to delete the app and reinstall it. Then you can start over again. Many loops. I’m definitely leaving SH when my contract is up.

Unreliable company

I bought a tourist eSIM and encountered many issues while using it, along with poor experiences from both online and in-store customer service. Long story short: beware of their misleading information, and do not top up if you already feel your money hasn’t been well spent.

One staff member even asked me to top up another $10 just to test their service, but when things went wrong, they refused to refund me. He claimed that the online and in-store teams are actually independent contractors with no affiliation — which was incredibly frustrating.

Useless app

This app does not open. It has not opened for months. I have deleted and re-downloaded the app multiple times. Why can’t StarHub fix this?
