Connection issues
Shocked
Anywho…. When I set up the TMoble modem, which was simple, I had 100 times the download speed, and 30 times the upload speed. Side by side test. I scraped CenturyLink, and the speed hasn’t changed. The T-Mobile WiFi signal is much stronger too. It works better than my work AT&T FirstNet hot spot. We have been a customer for just over 2-months, wow, what a difference! Unbelievable! And thank you!!
Some issues
Much better than expected.
Be aware though. I work 2 miles from home and the service is not available there, as the connection for T-Mobile is not as strong there, so this service is great if it is great where you want to place it. Also, it is not meant to travel--the device makes you tell it where it is located, so it is not meant to be a "traveling hot spot," or at least that is what it seems.
Switched from ATT wifi to TMobile wifi
This app needs some work
Update 9/8/23: The app store indicates this app was updated 3 weeks ago, yet the “devices not found” issue persists. Just tried delete and reinstall again without success. Once you’re stuck on that devices screen, you cannot access any other. Deducting one more star.
Feel Cheated
Great price, great streaming
I am allowed to have 12 devices on this box. It easily connects with my cells (2 in home), TVs (2 in home), an IPAD, Laptop and no disruption to anything including Alexa & BT devices!!!! Here is my challenge to you – go and get a box and try it if it is available in your area. Simply plug it into a power source and connect to everything - risk free for 14 days and potentially save yourself a lot of money, depending on what Service you pay for now!!!! Thank you T-Mobile for ALWAYS delivering great services at a great price!!!!
DO NOT BUY
Service great, app is broken
I do everything it tells me to, exactly as it tells me to (I’m a tech savvy guy, so this is extremely basic stuff we are talking about) and yet on the final step, it just refuses to recognize the fact that we are connected to the correct network. It thinks we are not connected. No VPN is messing it up, I’ve reinstalled the app three times, I’ve tried manually connected, auto connecting, and even disconnecting and reconnected while on the final screen and the result is the same. There’s an icon to call support but what are they going to do, put me on with a member of the app development team? Nope, a bug is a bug so hopefully this gets forwarded to the team who can fix it.
Rating two stars instead of one because if it were actually operable it would be a pretty good app. Clean interface, easy to understand, lots of helpful hints. I just can’t get under the hood to manage my device (which still works fine, btw, using the default password and network SSID.)
T-Mobile internet
Internet
Great upgrade for this project
All of T-Mobile is down. Complete Junk Service!
Good App, but couldn’t connect to gateway, until…
Now as for the App, it is a Good App, but it was hard to figure out why It was not connecting my iPhone to the T-Mobile Home Internet Gateway.
I downloaded the App and followed the step by step instructions to setup my gateway and connect the App to it. Well, everything went well except that the App was not able to connect to the Gateway via Bluetooth nor Wireless Internet, even though the Internet was working great and my iPhone and other devices were connected to the Internet via that gateway. Since the App was not able to connect to the gateway, I was not able to configure anything, like changing the wireless network name, passwords or even see any connected devices. After many tries and looking closer at the Settings of the App on the iPhone, you know by going to Settings and Scrolling Down through all the Apps to T-Mobile Internet and clicking on it, I found out that the Option for Local Network was turned off, so I Turned It On, and that was the magic solution. I went back to the App and clicked on Already Setup? Login option, and voilà I am able to connect to the gateway and configure it.
Useless App
- i often have issues with low signal and loosing connection. When i launch the app still shows connection is ok which is not correct. When i launch Orbi app for my Netgear meshed network, it clearly shows no internet connection.
- The app has no ability to restart the gateway. Got to go to the basement to press physical switch off/on.
- The app tells me to put the gateway next to a window in a living room. Really!? What year we live in? These days use cases are more complicated than T mobile envisioned. I have 4 hubs for my garage opener, Lutron switches, Phillips bulbs etc all connected physically to the router which needs to be connected to the gateway. TONS of wires and power strips for 7 plugs. This cannot go to the living room!!
Internet is fine, the app is terrible
Could be a great app, if it was actually given some effort.
Needs a LOT of work
2.Doesn’t provide true status of gateway (whether operating normally or not) nor any logs that indicate what type of issues have occurred and when.
3.Connection status is useless. When working it says connected, but app will also report connected when gateway isn’t passing data to connected clients. Needs a third status indicator to reflect whether the gateway is actually ready AND passing traffic.
4.Doesn’t provide any in-app or on-device speed test to be able to test speed independently of any connected devices.
5.Gateway doesn’t support bridge mode; if gateway isn’t working, entire local network is disrupted while gateway is rebooted.
6.Can’t edit names of connected devices.
7.When restarting gateway, app prompts to join local wifi network; sometimes it joins, sometimes it fails. When it joins, the gateway immediately drops the client, forcing the app to prompt to rejoin. After 3x, it gives up. But if I then go into Settings, the phone joins on its own - and stays connected.
8.Phone connected to wifi, gateway connected to Internet; traffic being passed, but app can’t see gateway? It worked before the last update.
FIX. THIS. NOW.
If this service is available to you, JUMP ON IT NOW!!!
That has all changed. After almost 15 years with AT&T, T-Mobile has won me over, especially with their Home / Business Internet. The service even beats Spectrum Business Internet.
The T-Mobile Internet app is just the icing on the cake. Easy to navigate and change settings. I just changed the router SSID and password to my old spectrum login setting and everything fired right up. While setup took less than 10 minutes.
