Saves me money just fine!

Don’t understand why it got such low ratings. Yes it had some issues early this year I think with accessing the card and discounts, but this eventually got sorted out when I got in touch with the taste card team. They responded quickly as well I was very pleased! So far, I have been enjoying using it and saving some money with hubby and friends especially with (overpriced) coffee shop coffee. Some issues are loading the app sometimes, but then that’s WiFi/mobile connectivity issues. Thankful to NatWest for my tastecard!!! And thanks for the coffee club tastecard!!!

Waste of time

Was gifted a subscription to this app and it’s honestly been more hassle than it’s worth just ATTEMPTING to use it! Most discounts are 3 or 4%. The food discounts like 50% at takeaways have so many terms and conditions, it’s actually cheaper to not use it. You can’t use the tastecard in conjunction with the business’s own deals - you can’t use the discount on xyz days, times, areas. There’s high minimum spends. And the whole buying a gift card to use the discount doesn’t work at all. Every time I tried to buy the gift card it asked me to input my details again. I think it’s a great idea for an app but it is genuinely unusable.

Card not received

I’m not happy that I have paid my subscription but have not received my card. No explanation. Are they still sending out cards . I cannot seemingly update my app perhaps because my phone is quite old . So not happy that I can’t use tastecard. I’ve tried to ring but that pathway seems blocked too. What do I do ? Can anyone help with this !

Works well enough

Feel compelled to send in a review as there are many negative reviews. My personal experience is the card works very well. Never had an issue. Buy one get one free at my local pizza restaurant means my card has paid for itself after just one use and I get 25% off Nero 365 days of the year. I agree there could be better choice in terms of offers (hence 4*) but that is different to the card not working.

Does not work

The app does not work which renders tastecard useless as with out the app you can’t use your card , I can be standing in the restaurant and it won’t find any restaurants near me, my app will only show coffee shops and cinema and I’m NOT in the coffee club on the app , I’ve had a taste card for years but have now cancelled, but I’ve paid for a year that I can’t use at all so they have stolen my money , they don’t send a hard copy of the card anymore so I can’t just go into a restaurant either, DON’T get a taste card, it’s no longer worth it anyway even if it did work

App needs updating

You need to update the app for the newest iPhone software as the navigation services can’t be turned on, the app is looking in the wrong place since iPhone moved the settings and if you try to do it manually by entering the settings yourself, there is no option for it there. Otherwise I’m pleased with tastecard. I’ve had it since the beginning, it’s always worked exactly as the terms state, sometimes I have been caught out because I misread or misunderstood the terms, but they were always there and always accurate. One meal a year and I’ve earned my money back on the membership

Charlatans, don’t bother

Had a free trial from Railcard to see what they were offering - on the day before renewing for a year, I was unable to cancel the subscription through the app due to “technical reasons”. I had a screenshot of this, as I couldn’t get in touch with support straight away. The following day, emailed support, after being charged for the renewal - and due “to stop customers being caught without an active membership and missing out on savings”, despite having expressly stated that I was unable to cancel the free trial so not renew for a membership, I was unable to get a refund. Distasteful, is what it is. I hope other customers are treated better than this and get their money’s worth. Total scam.

Hi, tastecard is an ongoing subscription service. When members sign up with us, as part of the sign up journey we confirm the membership will automatically renew on the expiry date. We just need to hear from you before your renewal date if you don't wish to go ahead with the service. If our members struggle to access their account in order to cancel, then we would expect them to get in touch before the renewal date. TOTAL SCAM - AVOID AT ALL COSTS

If I could give zero stars, I would. Tastecard is an absolute scam. They promise huge savings on dining out, but in reality, most restaurants either don’t accept it or have ridiculous restrictions that make it useless. The few places that do accept it have worse deals than if you just used normal discounts.

Customer service? Non-existent. There’s no way to contact anyone when you have an issue, and trust me, you will have issues. They’ll keep charging you even if you try to cancel, and good luck getting a refund.

Save your money and avoid this joke of a company. You’re better off burning your cash than giving it to these scammers.

Please sort this app out?!?!

Got a tastecard and was using it fine then an app update a few weeks ago and I can no longer login??? I have an iPhone 12 Pro, not a 7 like some of the other reviews… so now my tastecard is fully ineffective. Cannot login at all, it glitches and nothing happens, tried everything, waited patiently for an app update to hopefully fix this issue. Not being able to use the discounts I’m entitled to with my tastecard in the places I’ve been getting discounts from when I first signed up and having to pay full price is so frustrating!!!! I’ve just updated the app now with some hope and it’s still not working, for goodness sake the developers of this app need to sort it out?!?!?!? What even is the point? Very infuriating.

The app has never really worked since I’ve had it and I’m completely unable to use my Tastecard. I have never been able to get past the ‘Total to Pay’ page for cinema tickets. It used to be that you could log in online to purchase e-codes since the app didn’t work. But someone made the poor decision to have everything in the app and nothing online, which is an interesting take since the app obviously doesn’t work!
Would love to save some money at the cinema but Tastecard definitely doesn’t make that possible.

Taste card brilliant for restaurants NOT cinema

I’ve been using Taste card for years for restaurants and now coffee shops and it’s absolutely excellent. BUT I recently tried to use it for cinema tickets. You have to book your ticket via the cinema website. Tastecard gives you a measly £2 off the cost so you pay for your ticket via the taste card app THEN the cinema just makes you pay the remainder for the full cost if the ticket via their website??? It’s a total con and involves tons of faffing back and forth trying to sort it out. You make no saving whatsoever?? It’s a con unfortunately,

Our prices are fixed for each cinema location and ticket type, plus vary depending on where the cinema is and the prices they charge. Complaint new update on App

My tastecard update is not compatible to my existing iPhone because it’s an older iPhone SE and therefore Cannot use my tastecard App. Please can the programmers change this so I can use the existing old app or stop restricting old iPhones from using the new App. Someone else already complained but you did not read the complaint carefully and said it was about tastecard coffee shops and restaurants coming and going on the App which is not the problem.

Won’t work after update

I have had a tastecard for at least 10 years - I love getting my tasty discounts.. but recent I have been unable to log in so unable to use my membership benefits- after some investigation I discovered the new improved app update requires a minimum of IOS 16 .. my iPhone 7 Plus is not able to run this app so I no longer can use my tastecard! I can’t even use the membership number to get discounts as I don’t know it without logging on.. and I can’t log in! It baffles me that in making a criteria that you have to have an up to date phone they are totally missing the fact that if people can afford a top phone they probably don’t really need the discounts! Why should I get a new phone to be able to use my tastecard membership?
I have asked for a physical card .. we shall see if it materialises

Be weary of this company!

Be very weary with these guys for a start bank transaction doesnt come up as tastercard on statement, for me it came up as vue cinema which i never use so thought it was fraud till had it looked into and soon realised was my membership fee! Bank wasnt amused at this disguise either to say least! None of the things i go to use allow me to use on the day it always wants me to book in advance even when trying to use codes for sea life or takeout which not very usefull when u want food that day! App constantly logs me out and has no customer support option available so have had to google search the how to contact option!

We are sorry you are unhappy with your membership. When customers sign up they have to authorise the payment via their banking app, you also have to agree to the terms and conditions of our memberships. Our transactions appear on your statement as tastecard / vue cinema. We confirm in your confirmation email how long the initial term of the membership will be for and when and how much the next payment will be for. Unless you cancel the membership via our app or contact us to cancel before the renewal date the next payment will be taken. You can cancel the membership and your subscription will stop, leaving you with access until the next end date.

Impressed

I was having a problem getting my membership up and running on the app, and I have to say the lovely lady on customer service was absolutely on the ball and resolved my issues within a couple of emails, so well done! I am now enjoying my discounts and I wish all companies had such efficient staff!

Doesn’t work

Got this as a benefit from my workplace. The app simply doesn’t work. After logging in I am immediately logged out with the message ‘session expired’. I did manage to stay logged in on a tablet device but I couldn’t see how to actually redeem or use any others. With this level of unreliability I’m sure you could go out to eat for a 2for1 meal, be unable to access your account and then have to pay full price. Don’t really understand how the app can be so poor for something so simply as showing discounts and having a ‘card’ to redeem offers. Must be even more frustrating for people that have actually paid for this or been stung by a cheap trial that become a full expensive annual subscription that’s difficult to cancel. Waste of time

First time I tried to use the card it was rejected by vendor. Second time I tried to use the card it pestered me to log in again, I tried and it just said “session expired”, I tried again and it said “session expired”. Waste of time so far. Trying to cancel this service and the app doesnt log in properly. Tried the website and that failed too. I reset my password, tried to log in to the app (no feedback, no indication if logged in, nothing), tried website again and still fails to log in.
Update: Managed to cancel in the end. This app won’t be missed.

If you try again to delete and reinstall the app, to check this is what is on your phone. App doesn’t work - Scam beware!

This app doesn’t even work. As the previous user said they supposedly fixed the problems. If fixing means that you get automatically get signed out and can’t use this ridiculous card… then yeah. This company gives free trials and then auto-renews and makes it hard to cancel. They’re slick with it because they will claim that you have agreed to continue. They need to be investigated by the Government for their subscription model where it’s hard to cancel especially when their stuff doesn’t work. Now you’re stuck with a useless card that hardly any good restaurants actually take. It’s a big scam! Don’t get caught out! We need to go to the Government about this as a consumer this is very poor service. People need to be protected from scam artist subscription companies.

Utter waste of time and money

Most of the restaurants can’t be booked at weekends. Who wants to eat out in empty restaurants on a Monday night? Pizza 45-50% off but only if you spend a pig-friendly £30. Retail discounts? Can’t see any in the app. Days out? Kiddie stuff like Alton Towers or shows that probably aren’t selling. Cinema booking way too complicated, although I’m too scared to use it anyway after reading other reviews on here. A complete waste of time and money. Edit: I’m getting this “free” as an “employee benefit” and won’t be renewing it next year. A total waste of space in my wallet!

New app doesn’t work

When i saw the email regarding a new app, i was over the moon as this was long overdue. The previous app was terrible. Logged in this evening to find everywhere i clicked on the app, an error message comes up and is totally unusable. An evening planned has had to be cancelled due to this. What is even worse is the fact you can’t use the website as a back up to access offers! Logged a ticket and advised they will respond in 5 working days 😂. Will update with a response when i receive one.

UPDATE - the app situation was resolved later in the evening and in all fairness tastecard support did respond the same evening too. App does look a lot better but yet to use.
