I have two suggestions for improvement.
I’m Japanese, and I’m using this app to practice my English listening skills. I originally watched your videos on YouTube, but since the ads were distracting and I often found myself getting sidetracked by entertainment videos, I’ve switched to using this app instead.
The main things I like about the app are:
・Transcripts and subtitles are available in a decent number of languages
・I can search for videos by entering words related to my interests in the search bar
・There are absolutely no ads
I really appreciate these features.
However, there are two areas I’d like to see improved.
① I’d like to see more speed options
…When practicing listening, I read along with the audio while viewing the subtitles. At 0.75x, it feels too slow, and at 1x, it feels too fast, so I’d like to see options for 0.8x, 0.85x, 0.9x, and 0.95x.
② I’d like to be able to search separately for TED-Ed videos and TED videos.
…I prefer watching TED-Ed videos because it’s easier for me to understand English while watching the animations, but they aren’t separated in the search bar. Also, since there are fewer TED-Ed videos displayed in the “Recommended” section, I’d like a system that allows me to filter and view only TED-Ed videos.

Transcript Issue
Great app, but the “Read transcript” button doesn’t seem to work in this app. It works normally on the website version. I hope this bug can be fixed soon.

2026/04/03: I appreciate your thorough response, and understand the issues of having a small development team. As you said, hopefully, things will get better in the future, and the TV app will return to its former glory.
I’m not a fan of using AirPlay – especially in my own home – just to use a streaming service; I only use AirPlay if I’m at someone else’s home/office to share content. But, thank you for the suggestion.

AppleTV app crashing
I cannot search on the Apple TV app because the app keeps crashing extremely disappointing

I am a student. I often use this app as a tool for learning English, and I really appreciate it. There are many different topics, and I enjoy being able to watch videos in fields that interest me.
However, as someone who is studying English, it would be very helpful if it were possible to display both English and Japanese subtitles at the same time. If possible, I would greatly appreciate it if this feature could be added in a future update.

How am I supposed to enable/disable subtitles or change the playback speed? How is that genius behind the idea of menu buttons that disappear in half-a-second?
Glitchy
I love Ted talks, but the app is glitchy. I have constantly deleted saved and downloaded talks, for them to just re-appear in my list the next time I open the app. I even deleted and redownloaded the app and this still happens.
Problems
The app is not playing videos smoothly with frequent crashes. Some older videos just wouldn’t play. The home page is full of suggestions for outdated videos. Some of my saved videos have been lost.

Podcast commercials
The app itself is actually great
My issue is when i want to listen to a podcast the first 4-5 minutes is nothing but commercials. I can watch a video no problem no extra long commercials.

Fix algorithm
Great app, but it would be great if the shorts would be updated. Every single time I open it, I see the same videos in the same order. I would really appreciate it if they would fix this.
Good but
After watching two or three videos any more simply do not play the only way round this was to download it and then press play. This is tooo much work causing me to move away from Ted.
Apple TV Update
The Apple TV version of this app is in desperate need of some attention and basically useless and has been for a while.
