Mostly Excellent, butโ€ฆ

The #1, regularly encountered nuisance with the vehicle charging logic is the lack of the ability to charge the vehicle only via excess solar, just as the Powerwalls are normally charged. For example, it would be fantastic if I could set it to charge the Powerwalls first, and then send excess solar to the car once theyโ€™re full, or vice versa. Currently, excess solar can only go to the Powerwalls or the grid. When charging the vehicle, it always draws more than the solar can provide, thus draining the Powerwalls unless I raise their minimum charge floor. Battery to battery charging is extremely inefficient, so I always have to fiddle with the Powerwalls settings to ensure the car only draws from the solar and grid (my daytime local grid power is solar). Please please please, implement a vehicle charging via excess solar option! Just treat the vehicle like an afterthought-Powerwall!

Not great for charging locations

App does not show Tesla chargers not owned by Tesla. For example, Spring Quarter in Atlanta near where I have plans to travel. Also doesnโ€™t show chargers at Atlantic Station in Atlanta or chargers near Home Depot in Hendersonville, NC near where I live.

Best car

Best car I have ever had . Makes driving fun again . Donโ€™t think I could transfer back to a avg vehicle again .

45% of my battery

Since yesterdayโ€™s update the Tesla app is used 45% of my battery and background processes. Check your update versions better before you release them!

Updated app is fubar

Nothing is working on the solar, battery indicators

7/18/26: I am thrilled with the ability of the Powerwall 3 to throttle the solar input! However, Iโ€™d like to see two additional enhancements to the app: Iโ€™d like it to show on the app when it is actually throttling down the solar output. As is, it isnโ€™t apparent if it is throttling, or if the sun is actually behind a cloud. If throttling is occurring, I might want to turn on additional loads. The other is that Iโ€™d like to be able to set an upper charge limit so that the batteries donโ€™t sit at 100% all day, but throttle when they reach 80% or 90% until later in the day when I might want the t to fill up before nightfall. As a bonus, make these schedule-able, such that it applies a set 85% ceiling until 4:00PM, for example, and then allows upto 100% after that.
9/26/25: PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE: ENHANCEMENT REQUEST: Give us alerts for when Powerwall state of charge reaches a specified %, upmost down, so we can take action. How hard can this be?
12/24/24: I love the app for use with the energy products, but it could benefit from some tweaking. As below, user defined alert notifications would allow us to protect our PowerWalls from overcharging and discharging. This is especially important in off-grid applications. Please, how hard can it be?
4/12/24 Iโ€™d like to see the capability to set alerts when the Powerwall state of charge goes above or below a stated percentage. If like to know when they get above a given SOC, and id like to know when they get below a defined SOC, so I can take steps if needed.if like these to be push notifications that I would get when not on the app. Iโ€™d like to see them easily accessed to reset, modify or cancel. Do we still need the app to show silhouettes of TWO houses, to take up valuable screen real estate? Wouldnโ€™t one get the point across?
9/22/22: ENHANCEMENT REQUEST #2: Please add ALARMS for such things as Upper and Lower SOC settings: I want to know if my Powerwalls drop to a 40% SOC, or are charged up to 80%; Grid is down; Solar output has dropped below a give threshold. All alarms should be available as Notifications available when the app is NOT running. ENHANCEMENT REQUEST #4: The PowerWall knows itโ€™s internal temperature. Iโ€™d like the app to report that, and any other useful information that would help support battery longevity. Previous: Enhancement Request: Iโ€™d like to see a Widget to display PowerWall SOC at a glance, without opening the app. The Widget should be configurable to allow display what parameter the user wants, such as car SOC, or PowerWall SOC, or Solar output, or House load, battery temperature, etc. Any one of these should be configurable by the user to display on a 1โ€ square Widget without opening the app. Somehow unfavorable reviews are still getting deleted. Wow!

I am very disappointed with the communication. I have been trying to cooperate and provide the information requested, but it has been difficult to get proper communication. Calls have been disconnected, and I have not received the support I need. I hope this issue can be resolved and that customers receive better service.

Good but can be better

I use the app for my car key, but I also track my Solar production and energy use. Sometimes I need to literally lift my phone up for my key to work. And when I charge my car, the information doesnโ€™t get captured against what the Solar produces or powerwall uses. This then gives me false data for my energy consumption and for power supplied back to the utility. All the elements and data are there, why arenโ€™t they talking to each other? The rates for the local utility are also off, you would think that Company that uses AI could easily find that information based on Home Location. Luckily there is a manual function, but that took a while.

The absolute best..

Buy a Tesla

Owning a Tesla and using the Tesla app has been an incredible experience. I never have to stop for gas, and routine maintenance is minimal compared with a traditional vehicle. The app makes it easy to control charging, climate, security, navigation, and many other vehicle features right from my phone. FSD v14 is a true game changer and makes the car feel years ahead of anything else on the road. The future of automotive technology is here.

Zero stars none

Wrong charging prices at all times. While selecting in app or vehicle; while driving and while charging; prices do not match at all.

Self Drvinv

Self driving is outstanding. Love to take road trips now

The best car ever

Probably the laziest car Iโ€™ve ever had donโ€™t have to do much at all just goes and fast

Worst Customer Service Experience Iโ€™ve Ever Had

Absolutely the worst customer service experience I have ever had.

All I asked was for Tesla to use the Tesla credit they issued me instead of charging my credit card for Supercharging. It should have been a simple request, especially considering the credit was provided by Tesla and the Superchargers are owned and operated by Tesla.

Instead, I was met with unhelpful and very rude representatives who refused to resolve the issue. Her supervisor, Staci, also refused to identify the representative I spoke to or offer any meaningful assistance. Rather than finding a solution, they simply told me there was nothing they could do.

Itโ€™s unbelievable that a company as advanced as Tesla cannot apply its own customer credit toward its own charging network. The lack of accountability, poor communication, and complete unwillingness to help made this one of the most frustrating customer service experiences Iโ€™ve ever had.

Customer service should be about solving problems, not creating more of them. I expected much better from Tesla, and this experience has seriously damaged my confidence in the company.

Home Gateway Scheduling is now a nightmare

I donโ€™t know what they have done recently but for the home battery side of the app (gateway), it is now nigh on impossible to easily change the utility plan schedule to cater for intelligent octopus. I need to regularly change this as despite the home side talking to the car, it regularly dumps the battery into the car thus forcing the house into peak rate electricity, not the savings I expect. I donโ€™t know how difficult it is to tell the battery system not to discharge into the car though the app, but Iโ€™m not holding my breath.

Car side of things ok - for now but they really need to sort the usability of the home battery and solar side.

Great car, App can use Improvement

The navigation function hasnโ€™t worked in the app for almost an entire year now. Service center has tried to troubleshoot it and nothing other than the developers are working on a fix. Still no fix

Waste of AI

The app is fine.
It lets me see control things without any major issues.
The device has connectivity to be notified of coming storms and react, but it only notices storms around her about one out of five times. So I end up manually adjusting the reserve.

Then they succumbed to the AI hype and added a pointless LLM generated summary. I have nothing against smart use of AI, but this is just another wasteful gimmick. Sad to see this sort of thing showing up in more and more dumb places. Some poor engineering manager probably got a mandate to use more AI and had to find some way to wedge it in.
A far better use of time would be if it showed me the total amount of capacity in the battery and a simple algorithm to estimate the time remaining if power went out now. Would help decide what to do when a storm is coming over night.

Makes me wish we had researched other brands more.

Best in the biz

Service chat through app is prompt and - for the most part - with hard-working humans.

Temp control and pet mode is awesome.
