Great app

So far I am really enjoying this app, from the music, to stories to recipes, its quite nice. The pace for the stories and recipes are fantastic as well. I do think a little more history on some of the castle’s, or even more folklore or faerie stories would be a great addition to it as well.

No bagpipes? And Cannot unsubscribe.

There is no easy way to unsubscribe. When you try to delete your account, you’re told that that does not unsubscribe you from charges. And they tell you to go to manage subscriptions. But there is no way that I can see to find a link that says manage subscriptions.

I'm not sure that many people would welcome bagpipes to go to sleep to which is why there's isn't any in the app, there are some pieces of music that use them very faintly but its really not a relaxing sound. With regards to the subscriptions, we provide a link within the app itself, there are links on our website and also there is a welcome email sent with a link to manage your subscription. We also clearly state that deleting your account or app doesn't delete the subscription. We also have a very prompt support facility to help with any issues. I'm not sure we could have been more transparent or provide more access to ways to manage your subscription.

Keep AI out of mindfulness

So much AI slop on the cover art and thumbnails—think uncanny valley faces, jumbled text on a pint glass, and the same eerily smooth, childlike woman that shows up everywhere on pinterest now. It just felt so wrong for an app that’s meant to celebrate the authentic soulfulness and natural beauty found in Scotland. I found I couldn’t get past it, and made me mistrust everything else—is the music AI generated, for example? Beyond that, many of the narrations sound like they were recorded in an echoey room on a tinny mic. Love the idea of the app, and hope that more is invested into better audio and actual designers and artists as it grows, but hopping off at the end of my free trial for now.

Sorry you found the imagery used on the app and some sound quality an issue. We are a really small team of two with a very small budget but big vision. We wanted to keep the app as low cost as possible to ensure it was affordable to most people so we haven't had the budget for bespoke photography for over 300 pieces of content. We are looking for investment to continue to enhance the overall quality. Stylistically we also wanted to have uniform imagery with a dreamlike feel as the whole ethos of the brand is centred around sleep and relaxation. We understand authenticity is important and you can be assured that the app is build and run in Scotland by Scots so authenticity is very important to us.

Did you subscribe before the new app launch in June?

I subscribed to this app when it launched in September 2024. Since this new app launch in June 2025, my subscription is no longer recognized by the app, I had to download the app again, and the app continues to charge me monthly for a service I am unable to access—nothing relaxing about any of that! So, beware.

When the new app was launched in June we sent out a number of emails and push notifications letting everyone know about the change and the simple steps to convert your account over, which involved a click of a button essentially. We have thousands of users complete this successfully. We also have an easily accessible support email address available and usually respond within a couple of hours so we could also have helped with any issues you may have had. Such and incredible app that takes any listener through fantastic story telling of the history of Scotland. Beautiful stories and music! All well done and invites the listener to embrace the strength of all Scotland endures! Relaxing and peaceful! I love this app and highly recommend!

Connecting with my roots

I am an American of Scottish descent and have always been both proud and connected to my ancestry. The Tethered app has allowed me to deepen that connection and explore the culture through different Scottish based journeys (music, meditation, recipes, relaxation, and stories). Loving it and the annual subscription is so worth it!

Unacceptable Teaser

Really liked the one sleep meditation I got to try But 7 days to try some of the options blinked directly to “Purchase” in big letters after trying just one.
What a come-on. I’ll stick with my Aura subscription and the limited free options on Calm.

Hi, I'm not really clear from the review what the issue was. Just to clarify we offer a small selection of free content, one of each type to try and you can use these for as long as you want to. If you want to unlock the 300+ other pieces of content then we charge a subscription but offer a 7 day free trial first. During that 7 day trial you get access to all 300 pieces of content. If you cancel in those 7 days there is no charge which is standard practise for subscription based services. If you can contact us at support@tetheredapp.com we will help you

Nice but few male voices

Nice app, delightful content. I prefer male voices as sleep stories so this didn’t work for me.

This is the best app. It’s so soothing. I love the dreamscapes and folklore stories. I listen to them at work. It calms me, puts me in a happy, quiet, and peaceful place. I haven’t used the other features yet but I’m sure they are amazing as well. Highly recommend!

I’m afraid this isn’t accurate as we have a variety of content in both a male and female voice. The core stories are in a male voice and we have a range of dreamscape stories in a female voice. The majority of our content is in a female voice.

Be careful

I have been getting billed every month and I can’t cancel because the account page tells me I have no subscription or purchase history. Yet today they took more money. Have not gotten help. I don’t enjoy giving bad reviews… just want the withdrawals to stop.

I suspect this is because you have two accounts and you are logged in with the one that doesn't have a subscription, the subscription will have been set-up with the one you aren't logged in on. We don't have any record of any support tickets to us about the issue from your username so we haven't been able to help you resolve this issue. Its a very simple fix as this is likely the issue. Please contact us via the support area of the app or via support@tetheredapp.com and we can resolve it for you.

Screen time

Just downloaded this and in 30 seconds I have a request lol. In order to play stories, etc. my phone needs to remain active. Kind of defeats the purpose of meditation and relaxation when my screen has to be on. Looking forward to this fix. Thank you. Xx

Thanks for the feedback, this appears to be a unique case as we haven't had this issue reported before and we have just tested the app ourselves and it does play without the phone being active. Could you use the support function in the app and we will help you resolve this?

Still being charged after removing app.

The app itself is great. However, I canceled it and they keep charging me. Unable to contact them online because it requires you to check a box letting them know if you want to be on their email lists, yet this does not work..you can’t check the box. For this reason, I’m left feeling majorly disappointed with this app.

Very different - it's good!

I have heavy anxiety over at least 5 projects. It's all the time, every day. I woke up this morning in a panic and realized I didn't even know why. So I decided it was time to try an anxiety meditation.

I chose "Visualizing Stress as A storm". This is the one. I feel much better now and the storm scenario is definitely something I can relate to.

Her voice and accent were soothing but not gooey.

I always try new apps to listen to at bedtime. They just don't have what I'm looking for, although I'm not sure what that is.

Tethered is awesome though. The voices, the music, the cadence and the beautiful Scottish accent all combine into a marvelous listening experience. What a treat!
