They are crooks
Horrible Lead Service
Terrible for business owners
Sierra electric
Extremely disappointed this is a scam
What is even more frustrating is trying to get a refund for leads that clearly did not result in a real opportunity. Thumbtack often gives excuses for denying refunds, while the Pro is left paying the cost.
As a small business owner, these charges add up quickly. We are already paying for our time, fuel, equipment, insurance, and other business expenses. Paying high prices for leads that go nowhere is simply not sustainable.
Thumbtack needs to do a better job protecting its Pros. If a customer does not respond, the lead is invalid, or there is no genuine opportunity to do the job, Pros should not automatically lose their money.
I hope Thumbtack starts listening to the Pros who are paying the bills and makes the lead and refund system much more fair and transparent.
Never been more upset
Great service and opportunities
Prays on ignorance
Refunds Disappear With No Explanation
If Thumbtack says a refund was credited to my account, I should be able to see the credit, see the balance, and see exactly how it was used. Instead, the billing system is confusing and lacks transparency. Support should also make it much easier to reach a real person when there is a billing issue.
Leads are too expensive and the support team doesn’t help the pros.

Professionals deserve better than this
I fully understand that paying for a lead does not guarantee a booked job. That is not the issue. The issue is charging professionals substantial amounts for leads that appear to have little to no genuine intent to communicate or hire.
When I contacted Thumbtack about the repeated pattern and asked for my recent paid leads to be reviewed, I was repeatedly redirected to a generic refund policy. I had to continue pushing just to have the issue escalated to a human representative.
Thumbtack gets paid regardless of whether the customer ever engages, while the professional absorbs the entire cost of a poor-quality lead. That business model needs far more accountability and better protections for the professionals funding the platform.
At this point, I do not believe the quality of the leads or the level of support justifies what professionals are being charged.
Ghost leads and terrible refund policy
Not fair for contractors
So expensive
Not impressed at all!!
Glitches
Not worth it! SCAM!
On top of that, Thumbtack puts you against multiple other skilled trade professionals for the same lead, so you’re paying just for the opportunity to fight tooth and nail over a job that’s already being lowballed. Half the time you feel pressured to take a terrible job just to try to make back the money you already wasted buying leads.
The customer service hasn’t made the experience any better either. The entire system feels designed to make Thumbtack money off contractors whether we actually get the job or not.
If you’re a skilled tradesperson who values your time, experience, and money, stay away. There are much better ways to spend your advertising budget.
